My Nissan is much faster, more subtle and infinitely more dependable than your average boy racer-type GTi/SRi, any other 2 letters and an 'i'.
Mine's is an automatic; rear wheel drive with 197 bhp. It does 0-60 in about 7 seconds and has a top speed off over 140mph. Being an automatic it is a little bit sluggish to start off (for the first ten feet), then when you put the foot down, it really kicks in with a ... more

For those who don't know what it looks like - I probably can't help you too much. There aren't many on the roads you see? It's a 2 door coupe with very understated lines (I am also talking about the Mark II here - post 1994 as there are alot of older Mark Is going about), very low with 16 inch alloys and a small spoiler on the back. It's in the Honda Integra/ Fiat Coupe class.
Some might call it bland but I ignore these people. Sure, it is not an all out sports car and doesn't have the majestic lines of something much more expensive but so what?? My Nissan is much faster, more subtle and infinitely more dependable than your average boy racer-type GTi/SRi, any other 2 letters and an 'i'.
Mine's is an automatic; rear wheel drive with 197 bhp. It does 0-60 in about 7 seconds and has a top speed off over 140mph. Being an automatic it is a little bit sluggish to start off (for the first ten feet), then when you put the foot down, it really kicks in with a heck of alot of grunt. The road holding is quite superb as it is so low to the ground.
Insurance is high but not that much more than my previous car which was a Fiesta!!!! (Elephant.co.uk for a very good quote) and fuel consumption is hardly brilliant (ok - pretty bad - but you have to make a few sacrifices (25mpg if you're lucky)). Leather seats are standard on the Touring option as is a 10 cd changer. It has power steering, electric windows, ABS, a 2.0litre turbocharged engine, thermometer, electric mirrors and no room in the back for the mother-in-law!
This car, I think, oozes a certain style and grace. It is fast enough to blow anyone off the road if you are that kind of driver (I'm not but it's nice to know I can if I want/need to) and it has a certain rarity value as there are very few on the roads. it's also so a Nissan so pretty reliable in general and the actual servicing costs are not too bad considering.
Not great in the snow or heavy rain but I didn't really notice the wind yesterday (and it was very very windy yesterday). Did I mention it has air conditioning? Well - it has. In fact it has everything you really need in a car, including a proper spare tyre!
If you want a sporty car without going too flash then this is the motor for you. With prices falling by the day almost (you can get an M-R reg for between £4,000 and £6000), this is an excellent buy.
Advantages: Handsome, quick and understated. Disadvantages: Slippery when wet, Interior rattles.
I bought my '98 Nissan 200SX touring just under 2 months ago. I replaced a nice safe front wheel drive Celica for a 200bhp, gut wrenching, rear wheel drive go-kart. The 200 is a handsome big
coupe with great grip and pull, with enough go to see away with the sales rep. sitting closer to the back bumper than I can get to my girlfriend on an average Saturday night. The steering is responsive and quick keeping the car going exactly where you want it. ... ...his hat off and goes back inside. Rain, never before have I feared it, but now I'm terrified. All the lovely grip I was talking about simply vanishes and the car always wants to be facing 180 degrees from the desired direction of travel. I stand up and take my hat off to the person who can drive the 200 at a normal pace in the wet and still be able to wear the same underware for the rest of the day.
The equipment levels are resonable with a 10 CD ...

If so, the Nissan 200SX is for you.
I bought my 1995 200SX in March and haven't looked bac since.
Although it's the non touring version (ie. Doesn't come with leather and 10 CD changer as standard) a CD autochanger had been added by the previous owner, so apart from the lack of leather against your bum there's no difference.
With 78,000 on the clock, it still drove like a new car, and even now, with 89,000, it puts most new cars to shame ... ...Complaints, well only a couple. In the wet it can be a bit of a handful if you don't respect it. With 200 BHP going to the back wheels though, you have to expect it to be a bit lively. Secondly, if you're planning on taking the lads out for the day, make sure you warn them that it'll be a bit intimate in the back ! With the drivers see fully back (which you'll need if you're 6 ft) there is the grand total on 1 inch of legroom for the passenger behind ...

Advantages: Beautiful aerodynamic lines, powerful turbo engine, reliable, fast and quiet Disadvantages: A little heavy on fuel, an ideal 2 + 2 but cramped in the rear
...first experience of driving a Nissan was in Florida in 1992 when I hired a 240SX and was so impressed with its performance that I forgot the lower speed limits and found myself doing 73mph in a 55mph area!
Having paid my fine and enjoyed my holiday, I was determined to buy a similar model on my return to the UK.
Unable to afford a new car, I found a 1989 model which had done around 30,000 miles and in excellent condition. Being something of an ... ...but the Nissan exceeded all my expectations and in my opinion was superior in nearly every way. I paid £10,000 for the Nissan and it has been excellent value for money. It is fast and cruises smoothly and effortlessly on motorways, but in town it tends to be heavy on petrol consumption. My wife and I use it for long distance driving, for which it is ideal - comfortable and relaxing. We manage, with a squeeze, to get two large cases in the boot, but ...

I have owned my 1998 200sx (S14a) for around 2 months now and it is one of the best cars I have ever had the pleasure of driving. I recently completed a 450 mile drive with 1 stop and arrived at my destination stress free with no aches or pains. Very relaxed car on motorways with only 2800rpm giving you 70mph with very little noise to disturb you.
As standard the car is quick, hitting 60 in about 6.5 seconds if you know what you're doing. With no money you should still be able to make a difference using the FBU. Ask the owners club about this one.
The power is let down a bit by suspension that makes corners feel like you're driving a battle ship. Lots of pitch and roll! This can be remedied by uprating anti-roll bars at a cost of around £200 for both front and rear so ...

I'm writing this because all the reviews are on new cars. And there are a few of us out there who cant afford the costs. I bought a 1989 200sx 2 weeks ago. And what a joy to drive. I just cannot tell you how I felt when I saw this car. Remember your first love? Classic coupe shape, excellent condition. We bought it 2nd hand for £2700 1 week ago on Wednesday a couple of days later we took it on its first drive, well my husband did. What a car he came ... ...It handled like a dream, wods of power and when the turbo kicked in it took off like a jet plane in silent mode. Fast and Smooth. Sticks to the road like glue and handles like a dream. The only downside is that 5 mins after I got in it the Turbo blew. Warning, if you hear a slight metalic noise, stop the car. We didnt and ended up with blue smoke poring out of the exhaust. That said, we get the car back tomorrow and I think it is going to be the ...

Advantages: A Quirkey Unique model that is hard to find a fault with. Disadvantages: Been an owner too long and hard to think of something I dont like..
That was my thought on my first drive of the Nissan 100nx.
Granted the car had some of the usual faults, Heater controls .. cured by a quick solder, loss of power, good service cured this..
so what to say of the car .. Well this was part of a New Generation of motors for Nissan, these included the 200sx, 300zx and of course the 100nx.
the Nx was designed in California and bridged two familys of Nissan motors
that being the Sunny and the Cherry family.
So much has the Nx invaded our family I have 4 sitting out side my home
why 4 I hear you ask well rather than see them make their way to a scrappie they are being restored and be used on a regular basis in time.
My current Daily is a 94 model GA16DE, this motor gives me a 40 mpg and on its last test was 0.02 on emissions not too shabby for a car of its age.
the car is easy to service ...

Advantages: Plenty of space both in the car and the boot Disadvantages: Too cold and windy in the back at high speeds
With my husband fast approaching 40 and having to young children (4 & 6), we decided that it was time to shed some of the mumsy and dadsy image we had aquired with the children, and upgrade our image.
So, we decided to get ourselves a sporty type of car.
Off to the showrooms we went, with the kids in tow. First we tried the Nissan200SX, no leg room in the back for children, let alone adults, next we tried the Renault Megan convertible, again no leg room and so it went on, until we saw the Peugot 306 convertible.
"Nice looking car" I said. So, with car seat we put the children in. It was a fit! Off we went for a test drive. "Put the roof down dad" came the cries from the back. Having driven around in a manual diesel Discovery for the last 6 years, we had forgotton what a pleasure driving could be. We felt very lazy ...
