Good first car but a bit underpowered

Advantages: Economical, reliable, handles well, cheap, reasonably comfortable, good roadholding
Disadvantages: Dosen't look great, basic kit, underpowered, not very fun compared to other small cars

...Though I do not recommend this as this wastes fuel, your clutch and your tyres. In conclusion, if you are considering a Nissan Micra then I recommend you go for it. There are many quality cheap examples available so look around. Beware of ex-driving school cars and rare subframe rust. ...

Well, it's different!

Advantages: It's different, it puts a smile on your face; resale value, economical
Disadvantages: Parts can be expensive & hard to find, white interior will get dirty quick

...its younger market’. Nissan were a very conservative run company producing well made & reliable cars but aside from a handful of models they would hardly get the adrenaline pumping. Young Japanese buyers would rather buy Honda or Toyota as they were more focused on the ‘youth’ market & ‘cool’ to be seen in. THE PIKE FACTORY With the help of some young & inspiring engineers Nissan produced three highly individual models that were to be produced ...
...produced another niche model for Nissan in 1985 called the Be-1. Their first new project car was called the Pao (say it POW!), a rather boxed shaped utilitarian looking three door hatchback which looks like it had been influenced by the old war time VWs. It featured a grille that wouldn’t look out of place on a 1950s electric fire, external door hinges, loads of painted metal inside & it had a back to basics look about it. Only 10.000 were produced ...

Nissan Primera GT

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Spacious, Handlling, Well Spec'd
Disadvantages: Clutch, Driveshafts - wot to buy next !

On my second Nissan Primera GT - 5dr. Very cheap to buy and run. Driven hard and still 34mpg - not bad for 2.0l engine with 150bhp. Sytling OK if kept clean. Interior has everything and easy to fit DIN MP3 head unit. Great space, comfortable and excellent ride. Handling good but longish wheelbase can mean a bit tail happy. Reliability superb - I service my own myself and easy to change fluids , plugs and filters. Chain drive so no cambelt replacement. ...
...from Mr Clutch. NS drivershaft can snap (corrosion due to water trapped inside rubber balancer on shaft) - £250 to replace from Mr Clutch (get £50 cashback if you can give them and old 'non-snapped' shaft - they send back for reconditioning). Can be heavy on brake pads or is it me ? Lost 'feel' on brakes but Garage loosened up sliders on calipers. Rear calipers can seize around 100k. Replaced exhaust at 110k - £160. Rust under boot spoiler common ...

50 years & counting

...is the review of the Nissan Skyline GTR but there is an interesting story that goes with it dating back over 50 years. After the Second World War Japan's industries were left decimated & car makers were forced to produce commercial vehicles as no one had any money to buy cars. In the late 1940s Japan slipped into a recession with high inflation, there was high taxes linked to motor cars. Of the commercial vehicles that were produced they weren't ...
...companies. One of them was Nissan who built the British Austin A55 under license from Austin; it looked identical & was sold with Nissan badges. The parts were sent to Japan in 'knock down kits' & assembled with the guidance of British engineers. Within two years Nissan were making their own parts & paying Austin for the privilege, it was rumoured that the quality of the parts far exceeded the British ones. Nevertheless it kick started Nissan's ...

The X-trail...has the X-factor !

Advantages: Practical, well built, more than capable off-road for most
Disadvantages: Engines are noisy when pushed

...car being reviewed is the Nissan X-trail, Sports expedition model which includes a list of extras a: Satnav, rear view parking camera, climate control aircon, and a switch for the transmission, which allows the driver to choose between 4WD, 2WD, or 4WD with lock differential. The X-trail will also automatically switch between 2WD and 4WD when it detects a wheel slipping. Plus the added easy to open glass sunroof, made the car feel even more spacious. ...
