We can with this Nissan!

Advantages: Excellent build quality, great handling, comfortable, efficient, reliable
Disadvantages: Dull as ditchwater, Model will be replaced in 2006.

Sorry, did I just miss that? It's very much a blink-and-miss it car. Take the new Vauxhall Astra. Then curve it round a bit more. Still missed it? It's likely, as this model from Nissan has hardly set the world alight with ...
...the bumper, and the cahoosive Nissan badge on the front. Oh, and Lexus-style clear-lens lights front and back (2003 facelift).

I have the five-door version, bought purely because the three-door versions that I've seen suffer from 'long-door-syndrome' (ie, they're very hard to exit graciously from in tight spaces). Our five are very nice solid doors, with chrome door handles inside and out. Yes, outside. On a silver car (like mine) ... more

No Danger To Wet Paper Bags!

Advantages: Reliability. Low insurance costs. Well equipped. Low price. Overall a good value family car.
Disadvantages: Very poor performance. Poor fuel economy.

~ ~ Nissan motor cars have long been renowned for their reliability and longevity. In other words, they rarely break down or need expensive replacement parts, and they run on and on for literally hundreds of thousands of miles without complaint. I can verify from personal experience that the above statement is the truth. In my day I've owned a Nissan Sunny, no less than FIVE Nissan Bluebirds, a Nissan Primera, and two Nissan Maxima QX's. None have ...
...and my wife's old 1992 Nissan Primera 1.8-litre, which was an import from the Japanese market. ~ ~ So when it came time last January (2007) to replace my wife's old Primera guess what car manufacturer was high up our shopping priority list? I got busy on eBay and Autotrader (my preferred motoring shopping sites) and in no time our old trusty Primera had found a new home, and a new (well, relatively new) gleaming Nissan Almera 1.5-litre was standing ...

More of a Breeze than a Hurricane

Advantages: Well-equipped, should be reliable
Disadvantages: Drives like a cart horse

...dubious pleasure of driving a Nissan Almera 1.5 Hurricane as my courtesy car. I was quite pleased to receive this car as my prior courtesy car experiences had been a Citroen Saxo and Nissan Micra – both a tad on the small side for my 6ft 4in frame. Plus this Almera had five doors – a definite help in getting the child seat in and out and it was only two months old with just under 3,000 miles on the clock. The Almera range includes E, S, SE, Sport, ...
...front looks like a stretched Nissan Micra – with even longer headlights. The whole thing is well rounded rather than sleek. The model I had came with alloy wheels which added a little bit of sportiness to the appearance – but that is just about the only thing sporty about this car. Overall, the styling is just dull – if you had told me this car was designed in Korea – I would have believed you. Getting Comfortable Once inside, I was quite pleasantly ...

To get you from A to B...

Advantages: Comfortable, affordable, reliable
Disadvantages: Very 'middle of the road'

...to the 'Idiots guide to Nissan Almera'. In other words, I'll use basic language and get straight to the point... The Nissan Almera 1.5 series seems to be a firm favourite with those companies with a tendency to dish out company cars. Yes, my current one is indeed company owned which is rather nice as it's rather a good car. Annoyingly, my one is only 3-door but there are certainly 5-door models available. The Almera is designed for small families- ...
...Additionally, so far, all the Nissan organisations, garages and staff I have liaised with have been extremely helpful, polite and efficient- far better at customer service than those arrogant fellows at Ford seem to be. Overall, I am proud to drive a Nissan Almera- a car that does nothing more than cars essentially should- get you from A to B. ...

This car goes on forever

Advantages: The most reliable car I have ever owned.
Disadvantages: Sexy, it is not!

...of Fords and Vauxhalls. The Nissan Almera was the first foreign car I ever purchased and 5 years later it is still with me and going strong. The real strength of this model is its reliability, nothing ever goes wrong with it and maintainance bills are negligible. In the time I have owned and driven the Almera over 30k a year on the Uk's congested roads it has never let me down. The only slight niggle was a power steering leak two years ago that did ...
...my local dealer and complained about the red fluid leaking out and they promptly tightened the necessary unions and refilled the system without charging me. The Almera will never top charts for speed and performance but it will always get you there in relative comfort. If you've got one of those weekends when you have to take the trash to the local dump or help someone move house then everything conveniently drops down to give you an impressive ...

Good Average Car (1.5 S)

Advantages: Tough, Reliable, Comfortable, excellent composed chassis
Disadvantages: Lively ride, dull steering and ride

I had an Almera as a company car in which i covered 15,000 miles after owning a Pug 309 GTI. Lets say these are two completely diferent cars. I found the Almera fairly dull to drive, but largely similar in character to a few other models. One model which comes to mind is the last Rover 400/45. Most people will find it easy to drive and get along with. The chassis balance is lovely and the road holding safe and grippy although the damping and spring ...
...makes it feel 'soft'. It is comfortable over a long journey, although overly lively on A/B roads even gven the soft suspension. The 1.5 engine I found under powered at low revs and overtaking performance is limited and reserved for higher revs - which most people wont use. This aspect is frustrating - the diesel apparently performs alot better in the performance aspects - the 1.8 is apparently just as bad as the 1.5. The gear shift is wooly. Nothing ...
