Nissan Primera 2.0 16v Saloon

Now as some of you know, I tend to change my car quite often. However, the latest change was somewhat forced upon me. My beloved R reg 1.6 Si Primera finally bit the dust when it had an argument with the rear end of a large lorry. Gone but not forgotten, the primera is no more. However.... When I first saw the new Primera 2.0 Sport sitting in our driveway for a weekend test drive, I didn't like what I saw. Before we bought our VW Passat in 1997 we had a look at the old-shape estate for a weekend. I was too young to drive that one, but is similarities to a hearse did not endear me to it. Let's get the obvious out of the way - if you are looking for charachter and good looks then look away now! But if like me you are appreciate vale for money, reliability, and practicality then keep reading! (In fact I won't waste your time commenting on the exterior looks - decide for yourself on that one!) I owned an 1995 Nissan Primera 2.0 SRi for about 18 months. Magazine opinion is that it is a worthy but extremely dull car. The vox pox would however not seem to agree with this view. Over the ownership period I received many compliments about what a nice car it was, from all sections of the community. I put this down to the fact that it was a light metallic blue, had alloys and front and rear spoilers and side skirts as standard. Dull colours don't do the shape any favours. Remember those old advertisements in all the magazines a few years back. The picture of a strong, heavily muscled man holding up a huge globe, and the exhortation about not being a wimp. Take the course and no one will ever kick sand in your face at the beach again. Well this car, the aging Nissan Bluebird, is the "Charles Atlas" of automobiles.
