Advantages: A Car that likes hard work! Disadvantages: Can be a hazard to your life sometimes
I have been using the Nissan pick up for around 3 months now and have had lots of time to test it off and on road. Due to my job I needed a vehicle that could take me to building sites situated in hills where there are not yet any roads. Also I needed space to carry many tools and supplies for the sites. The pick up was bought by my company (for this reason I will not be able to comment on prices).
When I first drove it I realized ... ...so much noise that you think it might explode sometimes. The power is all very well though I found the control did not meet my expectation most of the time.
For starters you can switch between 2 wheel, 4 high and 4 low modes. Naturally when going and coming to the building sites I use the 2 wheel mode until I get to the ruff off road parts. Having bought the vehicle at the start of the summer season and the country of my summer job ... more

The pick up was bought by my company (for this reason I will not be able to comment on prices).
When I first drove it I realized just how much power was in this vehicle. It makes so much noise that you think it might explode sometimes. The power is all very well though I found the control did not meet my expectation most of the time.
For starters you can switch between 2 wheel, 4 high and 4 low modes. Naturally when going and coming to the building sites I use the 2 wheel mode until I get to the ruff off road parts. Having bought the vehicle at the start of the summer season and the country of my summer job being Turkey I was in very hot weather all the time. So at first I didn't realize anything wrong when the vehicle slipped a bit when going a bit fast around corners. That is until I happened to turn in to a road with a wet surface. In an instant all the control was gone! The back end of the vehicle flew out and made me nearly go in to a wall. After this experience I was scared of this control problem. Little did I know it was to happen again on a mountain road with a fall of 30+ meters. Although managing to live through these incidents I was VERY worried. After testing it out I found that if you are not on a straight long road its better to use your 4-wheel drive even if it isn't off road. This give an instant grip letting you chuck your self in to corners like any good jeep or 4x4. After some experience I found that little thing like always keeping your fuel tank full and not letting it go under half give you better control. The problem so I have been told is that due to the nature of the vehicle being a pick up the back is very light until your cargo has been placed in the back. Although I can understand why they might have done the back so light, in my situation it does not work to my advantage as the cargo I carry rarely reaches a big weight worthy of this light rear end. I have found out that as a solution people have had weights installed in to the vehicles rear end weighing it down. This might be an interesting solution.
My next problem with the vehicle was the steering. It is near impossible to do a 180-degree turn within 5 meters width! Any car or even most of the 11-seated minibuses the company owns has no problem while leaving the office car park. But with the pick up I can only get out with a turn and a reverse and turn again.
Suspension The suspension is something that is guaranteed to rot your bottom away. It is so hard that I can feel every bump I go through. I would have thought that better suspension would have been installed in a 4x4.
4x4 The 4x4 system though when you get on the dirt track is just excellent. It really is worth the money when you plow up hill with muddy dirt tracks with no sort of hesitation at all.
All in all I think it is a beast that cannot be tamed. If you are going to be doing off road and need to carry big cargo then don't hesitate really but if you just want a 4x4 and a bit of fun maybe a jeep would be better. Also I would like to add as a final comment that the new version for 2005 is said to be dealing with many of these issues so that might be worth looking in to.
Advantages: Very capable off roader and a great load carrier Disadvantages: Fuel consumption
...have to say that the Nissan Navara is a very capable off roader and a great load carrier.
All of the vehicles in this class suffer from a tendency to be too light in the back end for them to handle like ordinary cars - but they aren't ordinary cars, so why expect them to handle like one? The Navara is actually the best handling pick up of the lot. It's reasonable to maintain, not as thirsty on fuel as some of the competition and more versatile.
... ...lot of time in my pick-up and I have to say that it is generally comfortable and practical and is the best towing vehicle I have ever owned. In fact, the only real downsides are the very basic equipment levels on low to mid range models and the number of early models that required timing chain tensioner replacement (albeit usually under warranty).
If you're looking for a pre-owned example, watch out as a lot of these vehicles are owned by farmers ...

...from the east and my nissan navara 2.5 di is a great run around and work horse. she does have the tendency to get thirsty when in a rush but the outstanding red that mine is in gives her some devilishness. i love herand i hope the feeling is mutual. i have over loaded her before and she didnt moan or groan but just got on with the job. i dont mind driving her when its wet or when its bone dry. im quite happy going on long journeys. ok, she may not ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Nissan Pick Up"
Advantages: Roomy, smooth to drive, fuel consumption, reliable Disadvantages: Looks
This is a review of the Nissan Note 1.4 with manual transmission & not the 1.6 auto as listed.
My first acquaintance with the Nissan Note was on a rental car hire parking lot last week, it was my transport for three days. If we all purchased a car for looks alone I doubt if anyone would even consider this car. I know looks are a subjective matter but no matter which angle I looked at this vehicle is was just????.well, ugly.
With its long wheelbase & box shape & those striking ?bug eye? headlamps it was never going to win a beauty contest.
And then there is the name, how many well paid advisors / marketing people came up with the name. Note? Did they pick the names out of a hat? Honestly, I would have thought a company the size of Nissan could have come up with something a little more enticing.
However, this is a car ...
Advantages: Baby sports convertable Disadvantages: dont be too tall, or have a family
Ok, so we aren't talking about a ferrari here, but if you want heads to turn for little money, then its hard to beat an NX. They are very economical little cars, giving probably 50mpg on a long run, but if its just about economy..... buy a Micra! Cheap insurance, reasonable cheap for parts (its basically a re-bodied nissan sunny), and yes cheap to buy with Japanese reliability. You can easily pick one up for a few hundred quid, and you will have miles of fun, roof off, stereo turned up.......enjoy! Afterall, for less than a thousand pounds you can have a convertable for the summer. People consider them a poor mans sports car, and yes they are cheap to own, so what! I cant afford a ferrari lol ...

Advantages: Beautiful, full of character, cheap to run, easy to drive- a pleasure! Disadvantages: Girlie- not so good for men!! Can be expensive if not bought as a deal.
(particularly troublesome when you have just pulled out onto a main road) and then all of a sudden with no warning she would rev up and fly off (again a worry when you're stuck in traffic or weaving in and out of parked cars). I took her in to the dealers again and they found the fault immediately- however the part had to be imported.
My little car sat on the forecourt for about 6 weeks whilst they waited for the part to arrive. During this time Nissan paid for me to have a hire car. When I went to pick her up the had been washed and cleaned throughout, and the nissan people were very friendly- everyone I passed said "Oh she's yours is she? I bet you'll be glad to get her home!!" and I was!
She's a little character, and a beautiful little car, I love driving her- she can do relaxing country lanes and speedy motorways with ease and I wouldn ...
