My child had nits pretty much constantly for over a year. It was terrible...and I was doing what I thought was everything I could to get rid of them. I combed his hair at least 3 times a week... more

Nitty Gritty Comb About a year and a half ago I spotted the Nitty Gritty comb in my local pharmacy. The design of the comb immediately caught my attention because of its long metal teeth and the spiralled grooves which ran down the length of each tooth on the comb. Having three children in the house who have each had their fair share of nits in the past I decided to buy it incise we had another outbreak. The comb is a lot more expensive than your usual nit comb; but from my own experience this comb is definitely worth paying extra for because it is the best nit comb I have ever used. The Nitty ... more

Advantages Advantages Effective and unique design, durable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Initial outlay is higher than for traditional nit combs

There are several things you dread when you become a parent. Nappy rash, threadworm, and head lice are probably the three I feared the most, and whilst my daughter managed to escape threadworm and only got nappy rash when she was teething, sadly she has fallen victim to head lice. I must have been a very fortunate child as I never encountered these parasites in childhood, possibly due to the fact my mother insisted I kept my hair short, something I bitterly resented after being mistaken several times for a boy. This resentment led to me being quite happy to let my daughter wear her hair long ... more

My daughter first became infested with the dreaded headlice when she was just two and started attending nursery. Over the years I have probably used every lotion, potion and comb on the market to keep the bugs at bay with varying degrees of success. The problem is that I manage to get her clear but she gets reinfested at school again. One day I went to my local chemist and asked for some advice and the assistant advised me to buy the nitty gritty comb. I nearly passed out when she told me that it cost £9.99 but luckily in my area of Scotland pharmacists are available to prescribe for minor ... more

Apologies in advance if you find yourself scratching involuntarily while reading this review. Our daughters brought home some unwelcome little "guests" from nursery a few weeks ago. Headlice, nits, call them what you will, it was my first ever encounter with this affliction and I was horrified, repulsed appalled and embarrassed....I hot- footed it down to the local chemist who informed my that they were rife round the local primary school, where many of our daughters' classmates have siblings and I came home with their prescription. I applied the first treatment as instructed. It didn't seem ... more

Nitty gritty Nit Free Comb A coouple of weeks ago, i felt compelled to try almost every product on the market when I found some of the dreaded head lice in little Miss’s hair. While I was treating it with one of the products, someone suggested this comb, so i decided to give it a go in the weeks interim between one application of the spray and the next... a kind of mid week fix! The comb proclaims itself to be the winner of the Daily telegraph family Friendly Award and comes with a lifetime guarantee. When I take the comb out of the plastic packaging (scissors required) there is a short ... more
