Nivea moisturises and soothes your skin, which is pretty important when you consider that shaving is probably tearing off a couple of layers of your skin anyway!

I'm a bit of a sensitive type. A "fairly helpful" rating on one of my ops has me inconsolable for days. I burst into tears at the sight of Rolf Harris presenting "Animal Hospital". I haven't even dared watch "Bambi" for fear of the consequences.

Nivea After Shave balm retails for around £4-5 for a 100ml bottle, but you should be able to get it a bit cheaper because I believe it's being discontinued. I picked some up in Boots midweek for £2 (ooh, what a bargain!).
PACKAGING
Fans of pointless excess packaging will be pleased to note that Nivea comes complete with a cardboard box in order to fill up those all too empty landfill sites. The packaging looks pretty plain and could quite easily be for any Nivea moisturising cream. The balm itself is packaged in a small, squarish glass container. Because you have to pour the balm out I thought I might have problems with pouring out half the bottle in one go, but the quite-thick consistency of the balm means that this is not a problem.
INGREDIENTS
Now, I know what you've been dying to ask since the beginning of the op: "Does Nivea After Shave Balm contain hamamelis and bisabolol?" And the answer to your question is yes yes YES! For the one or two of you who don't know what hamamelis is, it's any shrub of the genus Hamamelis, for instance witch hazel. I won't insult your intelligence by telling you what bisabolol is.
The balm is also "enriched with Provitamin B5 and Vitamin E". It's alcohol free and according to the packaging it's "fragrance neutral", but it does have a fragrance. I'm not Jilly Goolden so I can't really give a good description of what it smells like - the Nivea marketing people would probably say it smells like manly things like waves crashing on rocks or a thunderstorm in a rainforest.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
In a word, yes. The balm is nice and light and absorbs into your skin quickly - it doesn't feel greasy and the smell isn't overpowering. My skin feels a lot smoother as a result, and doesn't sting as much as I make my daily 6am walk through Arctic winds to the coal pit.
A 100ml bottle lasts a good few months, and I do feel the benefit of it most in winter when icy winds can dry out your skin. It's also good if you wake up one morning with a hangover and one rusty razor and end up hacking your face to bits, or even if your skin is just feeling a bit dry.
Also available in the same range from Nivea are shaving foam, shaving gel, shaving cream and after shave lotion. More information is available at www.niveaformen.com.
Advantages: gentle on skin, no strong smell Disadvantages: none
...an “After Shave Balm” from Nivea for Men, which claimed to be for sensitive skin. I thought wow, so I tried it out and to my amazement it actually stopped the irritation n my skin after I shaved, which I though was dead good.
Having tried out this free sample pack I was converted I went out the next day and bought a bottle of the stuff. Although quite expensive, well what I thought was quite expensive (but as aftershaves go it is probably ... ...**
Well here is what Nivea claim about the product (the blurb from the bottle):

Enriched with Hamamelis, Bisabolol, Pro-vitamin B5 and Vitamin E, your skins natural protection system ...

...They also recommend using Nivea shaving gel or foam.
Two months into owning the product I have had a bit of experience using it. I use it after shaving and the supple feeling is there in my skin. Its a great product to splash on quickly before you go out giving you a discrete manly scent and your skin also feels supple for a while. The box says that it is fragrance neutral but theres definately some kind of fragrance there. Funny I read the box ... ...says fragrance neutral yet the ingredients state that there is Parfum(fragrance)and there is definately a scent. I dont like companies giving misleading information or information that can easily be interpretted as something else. No doubt they will have some explanation as to why it says something about it being fragrance neutral maybe they mean the PH paper test or something daft. Im only speaking for those who may be led into believing one thing ...

...in 1911. Since this time, NIVEA has become known throughout the world as a leader for its skin-care products.
The word NIVEA is derived from the Latin word “nivius” which means “Snow White”.
I am going to take a look at the NIVEA Men range, and in particular – NIVEA Men Sensitive Balm After Shave.

Nivea for MEN sensitive after shave balm, well it is exactly what it says on the…….bottle. It costs about £4.29 (depending where you purchase it from) The box is white with a mainly blue colour square box, in the box it says “NIVEA for MEN” in white and silver lettering, below this it states it’s sensitive, vitamin enriched and alcohol free. On the rear of the box it says exactly what the product does. Quickly absorbed, alcohol free and fragrance ... ...not cut myself wet shaving Nivea for men doesn’t sting if applied to broken or cut skin (although not recommended), if you have the same problem as me it is safer to buy an electric shaver :-}

...can all do without, and Nivea for Men sensitive after shave balm helps relieve these symptoms. It is alcohol free and vitamin enriched.
I first came across this product around two years ago when I recieved a free sample in a magazine. As I had always suffered from discomfort following shaving, I gave it a try. It certainly worked for me, and I have been a loyal purchaser ever since.
**Packaging**
Comes in a glass white bottle, with a plastic screw ... ...my bathroom is tiled and with having butterfingers, I have managed to drop the bottle and subsequently smash it to pieces! Also, when the bottle is becoming empty it is difficult to squeeze the last drops out.
**Price**
My last bottle costs me £5.50 for 100ml from my local chemist. Prices may vary, depending on where purchased. A 100ml bottle lasts me around 1 month. (I have to shave daily, obviously, this won't apply to everyone.)
