Don’t ask me where it came from! All I know is that I didn’t personally buy it. At a guess, I’d say it was another “slip into the basket while daddy isn’t looking” jobs by my wee lass! (She costs me a blooming fortune, so she does!)

Nivea claim that this shower oil is suitable for all skin types, and in particular anyone with dry skin, and that it contains “55% caring oil”. I don’t know exactly what “caring oil” actually consists of; in fact, I haven’t a damned clue what “caring oil” consists of. ~ ~ We now have a new bathroom in the mad cabbie household, which has left the old bank balance severely dented. (If not quite busted!) The re-vamp required a drastic cleanout of the old premises before the builders moved in, and while stripping the old bathroom cabinet I came across the product I’m going to review here. “Nivea Pampering Shower Oil”. Don’t ask me where it came from! All I know is that I didn’t personally buy it. At a guess, I’d say it was another “slip into the basket while daddy isn’t looking” jobs by my wee lass! (She costs me a blooming fortune, so she does!)
~ ~ Anyways, after being deprived of my daily shower for over a fortnight, (what’s that horrible smell??) I decided I could most definitely do with a little pampering, and this stuff seemed like just what the doctor ordered to get all ingrained muck and grime out of my sorely abused torso. (Builders tend to be really mucky pups!) Nivea claim that this shower oil is suitable for all skin types, and in particular anyone with dry skin, and that it contains “55% caring oil”. I don’t know exactly what “caring oil” actually consists of; in fact, I haven’t a damned clue what “caring oil” consists of. But Nivea assure me (on the bottle) that it’s an innovative new formula, so I suppose I have no choice but to settle for that (inadequate) explanation. So it was into my spanking new shower cubicle (luvverly!) to give it a try out.
~ ~ This “pampering shower oil” comes in a clear plastic, 200ml bottle, with a blue flip top. So it’s easy to see how much you have left, and easy enough to dispense. The oil itself is a kind of clear, medium brown/orange colour, which reminded me of Castrol GTX Motor Oil. You know, that’s the stuff you put into your car engine to keep it running smoothly. Once I’d dispensed a wee bit into my little mitt, I was reminded even MORE of Castrol GTX Motor Oil, as this shower oil is very slippery and greasy to the touch. After having a little sniff, I was almost convinced it actually WAS motor oil, and that it had somehow slipped into the old bathroom cabinet by mistake. But what the hell, I’m nothing if not adventurous, so onto the old bodywork it went.
~ ~ But wait a minute! I thought that you were supposed to get lovely soapsuds with shower oil? Well, don’t hold your breath if you like lots of nice soapy bubbles, because believe me you’re not going to get them with this product. I was by now almost totally convinced that somebody was having me on, and that this actually was motor oil, as the texture was so greasy and oily. It would be grand as a substitute product for greasing the joints and moving parts of my taxi, but as a product for cleaning and invigorating the old driver it’s an absolute washout! And that’s precisely what I did next; proceeded to “wash out” this disgusting excuse for a shower oil from my torso, by reaching for my regular “Harvard” shower gel from Marks and Sparks. Even at that it took me the best part of a quarter of an hour and almost half a bottle to get the last remaining residue off my skin!

Maybe they have some sort of deal going with BMW in Germany to take all their leftover motor oil off their hands at a bargain price or something! If you’re still interested in trying out this product after the slating I’ve given it here in this review, then it costs €2.49 here in the Republic of Ireland. At least that was the price on the sticker on the bottle. I’m not sufficiently interested to bother looking up a UK price on the Web. I’ll leave that to yourself if you want to chance using this awful muck! Absolutely *NOT* recommended by the mad cabbie.
Advantages: makes your skin soft, smells jummy Disadvantages: you might loose a few drops squirting it out
Nivea Bath care pampering shower oil
Wow! Was the first thing I thought, this was a product that really works for my skin! I have dry skin at places, and this just made it soft and smooth just like that! Sorry to say that it´s even better than Dove shower cream which I´ve used before! So I thought I had to ask Ciao to add this product, so more people will know about this fantastic shower oil!
First thing I noticed when looking this product up, ... ...only "shower oil", I believe it has to do with fitting the Swedish, Norweigan and Finnish translation onto the bottle, would look a bit much with all that text. Something us Swedes enjoy doing in bath, practice our Finnish! :)
About the bottle: It´s a see-through bottle with blue top, and on the front it says "Nivea bath care" in white letters on a blue background, the rest of the text comes underneath in dark blue, and lets you know it contains ...

Advantages: soft skin, good price, 2-in-1 product Disadvantages: hate the smell, very runny
...smelt - and I’m sorry Nivea -well, pork. A definite porky scent. I say scent because thankfully it’s not overpowering, and doesn’t linger after your shower, but it’s definitely there. Bizarre, yes? Maybe I’ve just grown up around perfumed pigs.
So all in all, a big thumbs up, as long as you can stick the scent. Who knows – maybe it’ll whet your appetite for breakfast?! ...

Advantages: Leaves my dry, sensitive skin feeling fresh, clean and moisturised. Disadvantages: Not a product for everyone.
I have dry, sensitive skin and I find other shower gels very abrasive. Most shower-gels are packed with lather inducing chemicals which suck the moisture from my skin and usually give me rash or skin irritation. I guess you could call this more inert??? If you are expecting a large amount of sudsy bubbles then this is not for you. It lathers slightly but nowhere near as much as the average shower gel. I would recommend this product! However, it does ... ...made a lot of difference to my skin. If you have even slightly oily skin it's probably not your cup of tea. The smell is not unpleasant but again it's not flowery or herby like a lot of shower gels. Personally I like it. The after-smell it leaves is different from how it smells straight from the bottle but it's still very fresh and clean. Most of all it doesn't leave my skin flaky or dry. It feels smooth, moisturised and clean. ...
