Are your lips shaking at the thought of their plumpness shrivelling up into a prune?
Well, cheer them up and buy them a lip sunscreen. It's only a few quid!
Lips seem to be one of the main places people forget to apply a sun protector. Many of us slather on lipbalms or lipsticks, but when it comes to protecting them from the sun, most of us don't bother.
And why should you, you're busy already? Well, for one your lips are very delicate and don't have any protection against the sun. As the lips are not often covered up, they are constantly under attack from UVA and UVB rays, which means the delicate lip area could burn and get chapped, and even worse- longterm damage could be done. What kind of long term damage? Well, those in favour of a full pout, beware! Too much sun exposure can break down collagen in your lips (Natural protein which makes lips plump), which could consequently make your lips thinner and fine lines could form. Nice.
Even worse, although UVb rays decrease noticeably after summer has finished, UVA has decided to stick with us all year round at pretty much the same level. And which one is the UVA rays, you ask? UVA is the one which is mostly responsible for long-term damage. Oh, joy.
This is why I decided to buy a lip protectant at the beginning of this summer, and think I will keep one with me all the time now, whatever season. This Nivea product comes in a yellow container similar to a chunky lipstick. It is bright yellow is colour, and has the Nivea Lip Care logo, and states this product is SPF 25 (sun protection factor 25), which means it offers 25 times the protection your lips have naturally. The container does not have a lid, but a thin plastic cap which opens up as you slide down the handle, and if you slide it down completely the lipsalve stick comes up. Kind of cool.
It smells and tastes lovely- like vanilla and sweeties, but not in a sickly, off-putting way. However, I hate the colour. The balm is pastel yellow in colour, and this is not so much a problem except the colour it leaves on your lips if you're too heavy-handed in your application. As the salve is quite thick in texture and doesn't absorb so well unless you rub it in, it can leave a whitish stain to your lips, which on my pinkish lips makes them go purple if I go overboard! A strange, bright lilac/purple colour. Doesn't exactly scream glamour, but fear not. As long as you don't overdo it, you should be fine. I usually apply some lipgloss on top of this product, so this hides the colour anyway if I have applied a bit too enthusiastically.
And does it protect? I think so. I can't exactly tell now, as although I haven't got burnt or chapped lips, the real test will be whether it keeps my lips nice and wrinkle-free in my more mature years. However, I trust Nivea, so I don't doubt this salve contains the high SPF they promise.
I do recommend this product, as it is cheap and has a higher SPF than many lip protectants I have come across. However, if I find a better product which is less thick in texture and will absorb better, I may change products. If I do, I'll of course review that too, so you can tell whether it is better or worse. However, for now I think I'll just stick to my Nivea Sun lipsalve, or until it runs out, which will take months even on daily use!

Advantages: Cheap, multi purpose Disadvantages: vanilla smell might not be to some people's taste
...the sun screen in Boots, Nivea Lip Care seemed to jump out at me, and at the time it was only 99p, so into the basket it went, and I thought nothing more about it until I was packing my bag and I slipped it into my handbag.
I was in Australia to enjoy myself, and previous experiences in warm countries has taught me that getting sun burnt is not fun, so I was being extremely cautious with always putting on sunscreen and protecting myself from the ... ...little yellow lipstick tube, and has protection from UV rays. Like most of these lip - sticks, it has a sun protection factor and I was impressed at how high this one was - SPF 25.
It has a pleasant smell to it - vanilla, and has no real taste if you happen to lick your lips while wearing it.
Because of it’s small size it can fit easily into your pocket or handbag.
So why would you need to wear this?
Well personally, I found that the sun ...

...made by Nivea, its called Nivea lip care with a sun protection factor of 25. What’s this got to do with my joker smile you may ask, well when all this happened it was during the hot weather and she explained that the lip treatments I had been using where just making the matter worse and instead of healing my skin they was burning my skin.
The lip product itself comes in a yellow tube and instead of twisting the bottom of the tube to make the lip ... ...with the blue and white Nivea log on the side.
The price of this lip balm is £2.15, but it really does work I was amazed at the price too, but also by the quickness that this worked. Also another good thing is that the lip balm seems to last forever I have had it over a month now and it still looks brand new. I purchased the Nivea lip balm from Boots pharmacy and I am very satisfied with the job it has done for me.
It didn’t burn on open or cracked ...

...sores. So when I saw Nivea Lipcare Sun on special offer, I bought one.
Packaging
The tube itself is yellow with the nivea logo on it and it comes in a little cardboard thing listing the ingredients and what it does. The tube I have is like a lipstick tube but I believe that has now changed and it is in a push-up tube. The actual balm sort of smells like vanilla, it is a very pleasant smell and nice to have on your lips. The tube weighs 4.8g.

Advantages: SPF 25. Sunny looking tube. Disadvantages: Doesn't moisturise as well as others. Leaves white residue.
I am addicted to lipbalm. I apply it about 6 times a day and before I go to bed. I cannot stand having dry lips - they just flake and get really sore. Because of this I am always buying lipbalm and on a sunny day (rare around these parts) my suncare alert siren went off in my head and I thought I'd try this. I religiously apply sunscreen to my face as I have very pale skin and I've heard that sun damage is the most aging thing for your skin. So I ... ...never had any trouble with my lips burning.
The tube it comes in is bright yellow and proudly boasts a SPF of 25. The tube itself makes me think of summer.
However, when I used it it left my lips feeling not particuarly moisturised (not compared to some of Nivea's other lipbalms anyway) and it left a white residue- even though I only apply lipbalm lightly. Now, this may be fine if you're off to a beach somewhere but as I like to wear lipbalm in ...

For me, it certainly does everything that the 'bumph' about it states which is all too often not true of many products.
It moisturises my skin, absorbs easily and doesn't leave nasty greasy patches or take five minutes or more to work in!

A rare occurrence for me to actually be singing the praises of a Nivea product given all the disappointment that I have had with their Nivea Visage range. But there you have it, this is a 'must try' product for anyone who wants to give their skin a bit of a boost in the moisture stakes!! ...

Like many people, when the weather changes my lips are the first to suffer. They get very dry, cracked and sore round the edges. It ends up looking like i have put a ring of red lipstick around the outside of my lips, they are so red and sore.
I have tried various lipsyls, chapsticks etc but normally find they either taste bad, taste too nice(so doesn't stay on my lips long as I lick it off), or they just don't do the job properly.
So far the best lipcare products I had found were a couple of nivea ones (green or the sun protection) and blistex.
Both of these, however, were still not great.
Then a friend told me about vaseline lip therapy. I have to say I didn't really want to try the original version as I had tried putting normal vaseline on my lips before and found it not very pleasant tasting, so instead I went ...
