Nivea Visage Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Plus Night Cream

That Nivea smell that other Nivea products also have is definitely there. I can't describe what it smells like, but it is a very subtle, yet comforting scent and I have become very accustomed to it over the years. Consistency-wise, the cream is thick and cream-coloured and can be smoothed into the skin quite easily.

I've never been one to spend a lot of money or time on my face. I rarely wear make-up and I'm very dubious about products that cost a fortune. One thing I have always stuck to though is cleanse, tone, moisturise and now I'm getting closer and closer to 40, I really think the benefits are showing Not that I don't have wrinkles, but they aren't too noticeable. Or is it just that I don't have children? Hmm. Anyway, I don't stick to any particular brand - I tend to go for the cheapest option in Boots - but as Nivea is often one of the cheaper brands, I do quite often buy this one.

The container
Once taken out of the packaging (so much paper and plastic - is it really necessary?), the actual cream is contained in a little blue pot. I am personally a big fan of pots of cream as opposed to a tube - it is far easier to ensure that every last little bit is scooped out of a pot than squeezed out of a tube.

Smell and appearance
That Nivea smell that other Nivea products also have is definitely there. I can't describe what it smells like, but it is a very subtle, yet comforting scent and I have become very accustomed to it over the years. Consistency-wise, the cream is thick and cream-coloured and can be smoothed into the skin quite easily.

Use
I rub the cream into my skin after cleansing and toning and just before I go to bed. Only a little is needed - a small scoop at the end of a finger-tip is usually enough for my face and I then make sure that I rub some into my neck and chest - I'm trying to stave off that loose skin look as long as I can. I do rub it in well, but it is quite greasy and I often find my face sticking to my pillow until it has sunk in properly.

One advantage of this cream over some others that I have used is that you can rub it in under the eyes without eyes stinging and running. I do try to use a separate eye cream, but am usually too lazy to be bothered!

The results
The morning after I have used this cream, my skin always feels taut and looks plump and bright. Even once I have exfoliated in the shower, it still feels moisturised and certainly in the summer, I don't feel the need to use a day moisturiser.

Conclusion
So, what it is like compared to other brands? To be completely honest, I like this product and I do think it keeps wrinkles at bay, but I have used other products that do pretty much the same and for this reason, I wouldn't choose Nivea over any other anti-wrinkle cream if there was a cheaper version. Boots and Superdrugs always seem to have sales on and I am more than happy to save a couple of quid if I can.

Having said that, there are no particular disadvantages to the product either. It is a bit sticky and greasy (my boyfriend always complains), but most night moisturisers are and frankly it doesn't bother me all that much. I do tend to find that I need to clean my skin quite carefully the next morning, because dust and other crap tends to stick to the cream, but this isn't such a big deal either.

I have a friend now well into her 50s who has sworn by Nivea products all her life and I have to say she has the most amazing, translucent looking skin with very few wrinkles - she looks a good ten years younger than she is. Of course, it is hard to tell whether it is down to Nivea or just the fact she looks after her skin (I suspect probably the latter). Whatever, if my skin looks as good as hers in another ten years or so, I'll be more than happy and it would certainly seem to prove that spending a huge amount of money on moisturisers is not necessary.

As a further aside, don't ever think you're too young to start using anti-wrinkle creams. If you do, you'll have them before you know it and it will be too late.

I am going to highly recommend this product, primarily because of the price. It really is very reasonable - the price always seems to vary, but I've never spent more than £7 and the amount (50mls) lasts for about three months. I also like the product, although as I've already said, I'm not too picky about it if there are cheaper brands available at the time of buying.
