Uses Of Nizoral ~~~~~~~~~~~ Nizoral can be used in the treatment of dandruff, dry scaly skin on the scalp or other parts of the body. For example: Psoriacal Eczema, Seborrhoeic Dermatitis (flaking dry skin), Tinea Versicolor, also known as "Pityriasis Versicolor" (brown or white small irregular patches that might show up after being in the sun), fungal infections.
It is primarily, an effective anti fungal treatment against the snowing dandruff or flaky skin from the scalp. However, it can be used to treat the other skin complaints very effectively also.

The Packaging ~~~~~~~~~~ The bottle of shampoo, comes in a striped box, coloured yellow, white, brown around it's sides. The back of the box has clearly printed details of the ingredients as listed below. There is also a warning: "FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY".
The front of the box is also clearly printed. It has Nizoral Shampoo at the top, with the amount of shampoo stated there, being 120 ml (millilitres).
The UK contact address is clearly given on both sides of the box, which is listed at the end of this opinion.
On one side of the box, are the usual warnings: Keep all medicines out of reach of children. For topical use, see package insert or as directed by the doctor. Avoid contact with eyes. Store at 25° or below.
The lid of the box, has the batch number above the expiry date. Also a warning to shake the bottle well before use.
The bottle itself repeats those bits of information above, with the inclusion of the instructions for use.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are sachets available containing just 7.5 ml (millilitres) of Nizoral. The pharmacist should be able to obtain boxes containing six sachets.
How To Use Nizoral Shampoo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Firstly, wet your hair with warm water, not too hot. Squeeze a small amount of Nizoral from the bottle (this has a flip top, with an "easy lift with the thumb" type of lid), into the palm of your hand. Be careful not to squeeze too much out, although the hole isn't big, you don't require too much of this stuff. Depending on your hair length, I would say an amount of about the size of a two pence piece, or a little more for long hair.
Apply this, massaging it well into your hair, making a good lather. Use your fingertips to massage it well onto your scalp.
Leave for three to five minutes, then rinse out thoroughly.
You only need to use this twice a week for two to four weeks, until your condition is under control.
Once controlled, it is recommended to use it once every one to two weeks.
For very thick or long hair, you can use your normal shampoo before using Nizoral.
If you are, or have been using any steroid lotion or cream, you must reduce using that over two to three weeks, whilst beginning to use the Nizoral. This should stop your condition flaring up during the changeover period.
DO NOT use Nizoral more often than directed.
It is said in the information, Nizoral is completely safe to use if you are pregnant.
If you get any Nizoral in your eyes, wash it out gently using cold water.
If you accidentally swallow a small amount of Nizoral, this is normally harmless, but with all external use medicines, inform your doctor immediately.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For other skin conditions, it is recommended seeing your doctor in the first instance. This is to make sure your condition can be treated safely in using this as a body wash.
To treat the affected areas of skin, use once a day for up to five days. DO NOT use Nizoral more often than directed.
If you are, or have been using any steroid lotion or cream, you must reduce using that over two to three weeks, whilst beginning to use the Nizoral. This should stop your condition flaring up during the changeover period.
It is said in the information, Nizoral is completely safe to use if you are pregnant.

How Nizoral Works ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everyone's skin, naturally has the occurrence of a type of fungus, a yeast by the name of Pityrosporum. In people with dandruff, or the other skin conditions mentioned, there are more Pityrosporum than usual. Nizoral works as an anti fungal that destroys them, whilst at the same time, cleansing the hair or skin.

Results After Recommended Usage Of Nizoral. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With just the first hair wash using Nizoral, I noticed an immediate difference. My flaky scalp, which I was told was due to Psoriacal Eczema, had helped reduce the amount of it's severity. My hair also felt very clean, a little shiny whilst also smelling quite pleasant.
After the second wash during the first week, it was very much improved. There were hardly any traces of snowy flakes of skin.
Having the Psoriacal Eczema, I would sometimes find my forehead with the same skin problem. I was told that this happens when washing your hair normally, it rinses the complaint down onto your face. Since having used the Nizoral in conjunction with a normal shampoo, I have no more of the eczema. It definitely works very well for me. I'm not allergic to any of the ingredients, so that helped. Also, I would often find the eczema very itchy, which would then make the skin problem worse, if I scratched the itch. That problem also disappeared.
My eczema problem wasn't as severe as I know most cases are, but it really did treat my condition exceptionally well.
§~§~§~§~§~§~§~§
Some Unlikely Side Effects. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One slight side effect which is common in using Nizoral is a skin redness. This disappeared almost as soon as my hair was dry.
Other side effects might be a slight burning sensation on the skin (I didn't experience this). Itching on exposed areas (nor this). Discolouration of hair if grey hair is present (n/a as yet). Some very slight hairloss (I have a full head of hair still, no problem at all).
If you feel you are suffering any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist, but STOP USING Nizoral immediately.

This can be a very expensive shampoo, at around £8.00p per 120 ml (millilitres). Although it is available on prescription, should your condition warrant it. But it lasts for ages as you only need to use it twice a week at first, then less often after that. This makes it worth every penny, so it is strongly recommended by me.
It beats any other anti dandruff shampoo I've ever used or any medicated shampoo I've used before also. With the added bonus of no clinical smell that some of those have. My hair feels better, cleaner, with no snow! Now I can wear darker colours if I want. I could have done with this at school, where we had to wear navy blue uniforms. Oh yes, it's also a good idea to check if it's safe for children to use. So again, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Ahhh... its that lovely time of year again... when the cold weather is supposed to hit the road and the warm goodness of the sun is supposed to peak through the clouds and heat up the Northern Hemisphere... and during this time of supposed changing weather... is when the most tragic of all of human plights comes into play...
DANDRUFF!!!!!
Oh the horrors... the shame ... ...and ripples of shock through stricken bystanders... the time of the year when the bandanas and hats are out to hide the hair and ponytails are masked by strange doo-rags...
Yes ... the flaky season has begun... My name is Lori... Hi... ***looks around nervously***.... ummm.... ***coughs***... and I'm a dandruff sufferer ... ***hides my head in my giant hooded parka***

Advantages: Exceelent for dry scalp Disadvantages: expensive
I have decided to write an opinion about Nizorelle shampoo this evening simply because I sent away for a free sample from the web site and received it this morning. I only sent away for it because it is handy to have, I used it years ago, but I can still vouch for it as the product has not changed. When I was younger, I used to get problems with my scalp, basically it was due to dry scalp, but it was so painful as it would build up and I would wake ... ...to bleed, it was just a huge mess...I hated it, and there was not much I could do about it. I used to wash my hair all the time scrubbing it, in hope that one day it would magically disappear.......well that magical day did come.....
I went to my Doctor and told him my problem, he instantly suggested Nizorelle. So I went along to the chemist to collect my prescription. I took my bottle of Nizorelle home with me and gave it a go....and wow was I ...

Advantages: It clears dandruff Disadvantages: It is expensive
I am a dyed in the wool Head and Shoulders woman. As an aging goth with many balck items of cloting it is essential for me to kep my scalp in check and really despite my occasional forays into freebie sample world I stick to the old H & S.
Recently however i bought a 100ml bottle of Nizorell dandruff shampoo control for dry hair (it is also available for greasy and normal hair). I bought it in Boots for £2.49 (H&S is £2.99 for 400mls) but I had ... ...so I thought I'd try it.
For the record it works and it smells quite pleasant too unlike the really medicated shampoos like Alphosyl. It is thick and custard like in consistency and gives the impression of conditioning as well as cleaning. I used my usual conditioner afterwards as I am the wild woman of Borneo (hair wise) and my hair felt and looked shiny and healthy.
After using it for 2 weeks my scalp has calmed down and the strobe lighting does ...

Advantages: controls dandruff well, smells good and very little needed at a time. Disadvantages: quite costly, not good if you have dyed hair.
I’ve used Nizoral shampoo before, but never Nizorelle, however, I’m tempted to do so now. Recently a friend pointed me towards the Johnson & Johnson website because she had noticed that they were offering free trial bottles of this product, and knowing my love of freebies of any sort, she thought I might be interested. I sent off for my freebie, expecting a sachet, but when it arrived it was a miniature bottle, containing 25ml, enough shampoo for ... ...It, like its sister product Nizoral is aimed at controlling dandruff and dry itchy scalps. Nizorelle is the weaker of the two products, and the cheaper of them also, and luckily for me it would appear to be strong enough to do the job. It is available for hair types normal, greasy and dry. The sample sent to me states that it is for normal hair, and although my hair type would probably be labelled greasy, I also found that this shampoo didn’t leave ...

Advantages: It really works and leaves hair in fantastic condition Disadvantages: none, its even worth the price
...cases of dandruff there is Nizoral which has a higher concentrate of the anti-dandruff ingredient, this comes in 60ml bottles. Nizorelle comes in 100ml bottles and is priced at £4.99.
Nizorelle has a great smell it seems very sweet and summery to me. It also has nice colour to it which some I have used in the past have not. The texture is a good balance, not too thick but not thin enough to run straight off your hands. It thickens up when massaged ... ...product is recommended to use twice a week (but still use your normal shampoo between these). It also states to leave on the hair for 3 minuets. I would recommend building this time up until your head gets used to the ingredients, just to avoid any stinging if you have really sensitive skin.
I have also found that if you are in a rush you can get away with not conditioning your hair after using this shampoo and still get the comb through it. This ...

Advantages: Very effective and leaves no nasty smell Disadvantages: Expensive
...Nizoral is labelled as a dandruff shampoo, which normally means a flaky scalp, but it can also mean greasy scales, scabs, or in my case weeping skin – how lovely!
Dandruff (or seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp) is thought to be caused by either the proliferation of a normal skin inhabitant, a yeast called Malassezia furfur or the over-sensitivity of the skin to a fungus called Pityrosporum ovale. Dandruff is not contagious, nor related to diet, but stress and being run down can make it worse if you are prone to it.
I have never actually suffered from the normal flaky dandruff that makes you avoid wearing black. Instead every now and then my scalp sort of bubbles a clear liquid which dries to a yellowy scab – it reminds me of tree sap. I get very conscious that people might notice this and it is also sore...

Advantages: Gets rid of dandruff. Guaranteed. Disadvantages: Possibly the price?
...Nizoralshampoo to me is the Emperor of the anti-dandruff shampoos.
I have used this now for three years. I am 46 and have suffered from dandruff for over 25 years. During those years I have used various anti-dandruff shampoos of various strengths and duration. All have worked temporarily; some for a long time others for a few months. My dandruff has always returned, it seems to get immune to the shampoo, and builds up a resistance.
I have checked this and apparently dandruff is the result of yeast, grease, or fungus, or all of them. This results in the flakes and bits of dead skin. So if it is a fungus then like bacteria I suppose it would build up resistance to the shampoo in use at the time.
In my case if I let it get out of hand then it is like a snowstorm. I hate it. I always get the impression people think you are dirty...

Advantages: clears up the snowfall Disadvantages: its a bit medicinal
...the nits i was fearing)I usually have a lovely glossy mane to be proud of, but my head got really itchy, and rather than dandruff being in my hair it was bits of scab!!(sorry if anyone feels sick)Underneath my innocent looking barnet lurked quite a horrible skin condition. (I just thank the lord it wasnt on my face)
Anyway, the wonderful nurse auntie handed over a very medicinal looking white bottle with loads of prescription style writing on it in brown and red, which she told me would clear up my problem in no time!!
The back of the bottle told me to lather the nizoral into my hair like normal shampoo and leave for 3-5 minutes. I duly did. It lathered well, and was a nice pink colour. To say it is a medicinal shampoo i was pleasantly suprised by the smell, which, while it wasnt chanel no5, was not offensive to the senses.
After...
