Yes yet another kohl eyeliner pencil review from me!I don't know about you but I own absolutely loads of them in a variety of different formulations, shapes, sizes and colours. It's the one thing I'm constantly losing in my bedroom so I tend to keep buying them and then what you know? I find another one so at the moment I have loads on the go!
Being a fan of No7's other products, I found their eye pencils years ago and it's one I have repurchased over and over again. I know it's wonderful and easy to use so I just keep going back for more. What's more the price has come down?! Why I have no idea and it's quite unusual for that to happen eh!The Packaging....
Very long pencil. The colour of the pencil is exactly the same colour as the one you have purchased. At one end under a long gold lid is the actual pencil and on the other end a long clear plastic lid is situated on it and under that is a pointy tipped black sponge like a 'rubber' applicator. On the pencil itself in gold writing I'm told that it is indeed No7 'Amazing Eyes Pencil' and the number and colour of my product which in my case is number 30 and Aubergine. Under that I'm told 'Long wearing and silky smooth pencil for colour and definition. Smudge tip included to help make your eyes look amazing, whatever your style'. I'm then told it is hypo allergenic and given the boots website address (www.boots.com).Now firstly before I forget to say the only colour available now is black according to the website. Now I have owned this colour a while so it may not be available but I'm pretty sure recently I have seen a brown and a grey colour available to purchase in my Boot's store.
Using It...This is an exceptionally high quality item there is no other way of putting it. From the packaging to sharpening it to using it, it's just perfect and as Boot's say 'amazing'.
So yes the packaging is very nice looking, you may have gathered that! Now this is a pencil that needs sharpening. Not often though unless you want a sharp point. Now personally I hate having to sharpen pencils, I find it hard work. This however is worth it and it isn't difficult at all. The wood around the base of the colour that you are meant to remove is smooth and not like old school pencils before we got them funky looking yellow and black striped one's! The only difficulty is finding your pencil sharpener if your anything like me and do make sure you have a decent one as not to damage your pencil.Like I say you can sharpen it to a point if you wish though this is more difficult to apply of course. Me? I prefer mine to be a little blunter than that so as not to poke my eye out as I'm so clumsy.
The formulation itself is soft and very slightly moist though it doesn't appear moist when applied. This 'moistness' makes it very easy to glide across the rims of your eyes making sure your not dragging the pencil and the soft skin round your eyes. You don't have to wait around for it to dry or set or anything like that and if you accidentally touch your eyeliner when applied it doesn't spread over your face as it's none transferable. As I stated earlier there is a soft rubber on the end of this product so you have a choice. You can go for very defined eyes and not use it or you can smudge away. This for me gives a much softer look and is easy to do and of course all you need to do is dot the eyeliner colour in places on the rim of your eye and sort of use the rubber to smudge it all together. it kind of gives a very punky look I think.
Now I apply mine in the morning and it lasts till I remove it and to remove it just use your normal make up removal technique as this has no special requirements.I find no matter how much or little I use it doesn't feel heavy on my eyes, it's long lasting till I choose to remove it and its none irritating. I personally use eyeliner over the top rim of my eye and then instead of on my bottom rim of my eye I put it just under as for years putting eyeliner on the bottom of my eye (next to my eye if you get me) has made my eyes grimy, sore and bloodshot because particles have flaked and collected in the corner of my eyes. I can quite safely say my sensitive eyes don't mind me using this up close and personal and when I use it in the corners of my eyes it doesn't make me weep, thus giving a weak watery look to my eye make up. I can't tell you how many times I have applied perfect eye make up to suddenly get tears flowing over my eye liner pencil and I've tried to dry the tears and reapply said eyeliner to not not be able to!
This is a really versatile, long wearing bit of kit that doesn't need sharpening every 5 minutes and doesn't dry out if left with the lid on properly in your make up bag (will last years). It's simple to use and wear and highly recommended from me. It's a top quality but cheap product for the amount you get! A good place for any woman to start with No7 products to.This is suitable for any woman and I'd definitely advise young clubbers and people who enjoy a good night out to get this for it's durability and older people who want something easy to apply!
