I am reviewing SPF 45 not SPF 8 as in the picture, Ciao will not/cannot accept new product proposals at the moment so this seems to be the only way of doing this. I know some of you will gleefully 'jump' on this as being in the wrong place, go ahead, feel free. Surprisingly Ciao also do not ask at the bottom if it is SPF 45, they only go up to SPF 30, c'mon Ciao, sort it out, people are leaving in droves.

Never heard of No-Ad products? Not surprising as they do not advertise, yet have been going sucessfully in the U.S since 1960, you can get more info on the company, what they do, what they believe in and so on here: http://www.no-ad.com/

No-Ad factor 45 is as simple as you might think, a factor 45 sun tan lotion, or to be correct 'Sun Protective Lotion'. As sun tan lotions go it is perfectly adequate, containing pretty much all the same ingredients as 'leading brands' such as Aloe Vera and Cocoa Butter, but costing a lot less. You can buy this on Amazon today in 500ml size for as little as £5.79. Think about that, a 150ml bottle of Ambre Solaire is £12 from Boots or about £40 for an equivalent amount, Piz Buin, £9.75 per 100 ml, or £48.75 for the same amount as the No-Ad.

You may well have to buy this on Amazon which is why I mentioned it, I have not seen it in any stores so far this year, and I'm pretty sure that I got it from ASDA last year.

The bottle that the sun tan lotion comes in is bright blue (not Orange as the picture) with a yellow top, it has an easy, press down function to allow the cream to come out, simple. It looks cheap, and it is.

The lotion itself is very thick and creamy, not at all greasy, and spreads across the skin very easily. The smell is a bit nondescript but that's okay.

The bottle advises one that the product is waterproof up to 80 minutes, personally I think that is stretching it a bit, I would re apply every 30 - 40 minutes. The bottle does however state, quite sensibly that one should re apply frequently, and 'stay out of the midday sun', clearly not aimed at the British market.

Seriously, I have used this for the last three summers and found it to be great, I like no thrills stuff that is good quality.

Let's be clear about this, if you are a designer junkie and need to be seen with the 'right' lotion, this is not for you, if you are incredibly rich, this is not for you, if you like to go to the store at least 3 times per summer for suntan lotion top ups this is not for you.

It IS for you if you do not want to pay through the nose for a product, want it to last all summer and don't want to pander to the advertising giants and if you do not want to spend money on fancy packaging.

I bought some of this a few years ago, I'm sure I got it from Superdrug. I found it just as good as the more expensive stuff.
