The Nokia 1110 is an entry-level phone designed with simplicity which offers a great opportunity for people on budget. This phone is considered by many an excellent buy, with superb battery life and an extremely easy to use menu. This phone is ideal for everyone and specifically for the older generations because of its simplicity of its menu. Of course we cannot exclude anyone from using it as it is a lovely phone and instead of its low price which makes you thing that is of low quality, on the contrast is a multifunctional phone.
This specific phone was purchased by my mother a few months ago, totally based on her need to have a phone but also in the simplicity it offers. In the beginning I really wasn't fan at all of her buying decision but much later I found out how attractive a phone like this could be.
THE PHONE
THE Nokia 1110 is a very good phone in a number of ways: good battery life, changeable covers, ability to use handsfree speaker and uprated ringtones and games.
The screen is a bit small, but the inverted black & white display is easy to read. The menu and the navigation control is very easy and simple to use; one of the main factors that make this phone so attractive. This simplicity is based mostly on the existence of a icon driven phonebook. The keypad of the phone is very nicely designed in a square design with good sized key buttons. Additionally there is a 4-way scroll key which makes the use even simpler. Everything on this phone demonstrates pure simplicity. Other distinctive characteristics are the overall design and the lightness of the phoneas well as the satisfactory battery life. Of course this phone is not anything like the ''supper phones'' which exist in the market, but is ideal for a first time user even if he/she is a child or an older person.
This was a summary of my review on Nokia 1110 and before I continue on a more detailed basis I feel the need to include the full range of features the phone has.
Features of the Nokia 1100 include:
Inverted black and white display with amber backlight (96 x 68 pixels) Messaging: SMS, picture messaging, Instant Messaging Storage for up to 60 text messages Integrated handsfree speaker 20-voice polyphonic ringtones with MP3 grade sound Three built-in games (Snake Xenzia, Dice Games, Pocket Carrom) Changeable Xpress-on colour covers Speaking alarm and clock Icon-based phonebook (200 entries) with simplified menu navigation Clock, stopwatch, ringtone composer Dual band Size: 104 x 44 x 17 mm Weight: 80g Talktime: up to 5 hours Battery standby: up to 380 hours As you may see, this phone has everything a first time user or an inexperienced one needs. This is the main reason Nokia 1110 mainly targeted to first time and older in age users. Remarkably a very good choice! The package of the offer includes: Handset Battery Charger Manual
IN MORE DETAIL…
Nokia 1110 is considered by its critics as a low-end phone which differs from its previous predecessor Nokia 1100 in many different aspects such as the body design, inversion screen and the simplified menu. Besides all these this phone is equipped with 20-tones polyphony.
The model was announces by Nokia the same time with Nokia 1600, and is much plainer version of the 1600. The size of the phone is not big (104x44x17mm) while the weight is 80 grams, which makes it very easy to carry almost in any pocket of your clothing. The body of the phone is characterized by a distinctive smoothness and is made totally of plastic. The design and materials
THE SCREEN
The screen is a small inversion monochrome which features in the front of the panel. It is 96x68 pixels (27x21mm) and has a yellow backlight. The inversion screen unfortunately has some problems such as the difficulty you sometimes face while trying to read in much lightened places or under the sun.
LOUDSPEAKERS
Loudspeakers are one of the strong points of the phone as one is placed on the bottom of the left panel and the other one can be found on the top. This is especially designed like that to minimize the chances of loosing a call.
As it was mentioned above this is a phone mostly targeted to people who might have problems using phones with a plethora of features. That is why many will not feel attracted towards Nokia1110 since the majority of us got used to work with mostly smart phones with many functions and not inversion screens. THE KEYPAD
A feature that eases navigation is the design of the keypad (made entirely of silicone) and the big 4D Navigation button. The keypad includes keys which are separated with deep hollows. The number keys are large and very comfortable in use. There is a slight change you will make a mistake while you typing. The keypad and number buttons are backlight in a white colour. The only drawback of this choice of colours in the number keys is the hard time you will sometimes find in reading the characters on them.
THE BATTERY
The most back part of Nokia 1110 is taken by a cover which includes a Li-Ion Battery (BL-5C). Nokia insists that the battery has a 5 hour of talks lasting period and 380 hours of standby. This may be considered a drawback by most of you but the good aspect is that an overall recharge will only take 60 minutes. Menu
The menu is the amazing thing about this phone. It does not remind anything of Nokia's Menu Design and the company says is the most easy to use. Of course you might have simplicity but on the other hand the menu is not at all interesting as is a horizontal row of icons, with only one shown at once. The company argues that this type of menu will be used and in future low-end phones.
The two buttons that are responsible for turning the phone on/off or for selecting a profile are of course unchangeably the Call and Cancel Buttons.
Fast Navigation using numbers is not available but fast access menu can be used by assigning the right functional key. The 4Navigation scroll can help you instantly access functions such as message writing, contacts and demo-mode. All these can be assigned differently on the scroll pad according to your preferences.
The phone book is also a very accessible and easy component of Nokia1110 to use. Phone memory can hold about 200 contacts. And each can have a name (up to 14 characters) and only one number assigned.
The search as in all existing phones is the same and is possible by the first letters of the name. Also fast dialing for about 8 numbers is present-the only thing you have to do is assign a number in each name-Preferably your favorites. The phonebook is modest. However, an undemanding user with little contact base will find it acceptable.
The phone memory allows you to store around 60 messages. The message menu contains many and different functions to use such the choice of font size (large or average) while you typing the message. Other features include multiple messaging and use of many smilies and text templates
Nokia Smart Messaging is supported, to send a graphic message in this format; you have to enter a corresponding section with a set of 32 preset pictures.
Furthermore a call log of 30 received, missed and outgoing calls exist within the menu of 1110.
Call setting menu is also available, giving another great function to this phone. You can easily select a melody/ring tone for an incoming call, a message and other actions. Besides, there are 6 profiles completely adjusted by a user.
Other setting concerning the phone and the network are here: such as the time setting. Unfortunately there is no much choice of alarm clock tones available in the phone and only one is present to the phone. This only one alarm can be set both for one and for selected days as well.
Other functions include the plain reminders in the phone. You are offered to enter text (up to 35 characters), set sound alert on, arrange time and date.
Some games are also available in the game…very important aspect of every phone and any user to kill his time but at the same time the battery life.Three games are available in the phone, they are Pocket Carrom , Dice Games, and Snake Xenzia .
Finally a plain melody editor, a plain calculator, a unit converter, a countdown timer, a stop watch and speaking clock again are placed here making the phone even more desirable among others.
Impressions
The phone is a perfect choice for everyone who simply wants a simple phone. It includes everything that you may need in everyday life and your communication habits. I can assure you that it offers an exclusive opportunity for those who are not very familiar with mobile phones (like my mother) or for those first time ever users, where they can use as a 'phone tutor' so they can easily in the future to use some more advanced in functions phone.
The phone is of proven quality and does not have many problems. But unfortunately there are some, such as: the volume of the loudspeaker is not strong enough even if the two speakers are placed in such places in order to avoid that, simply the volume is not enough. On the other hand the microphone sensitivity is of good quality. MP3 as a call melody is always desirable by everyone but unfortunately Nokia only allows use of installed only melodies for these functions. Vibration feature although existed in the phone's features is average and a call can be missed easily.
An interesting fact is Nokia 1110 costs approximately (£££)50, which is £10-£12 higher than its predecessor Nokia 1101 and about £10-£12 USD cheaper than Nokia 1600.
Advantages: Great basic phone with long battery life Disadvantages: No bells and whistles
...mobile phones I loved my Nokia 3210. Since then I have never really had a phone that I got along with in quite the same way. Just like you're first kiss, you never forget your first mobile phone.
I have been getting continually bored with phone after phone that has enough features to run a small country, but they never seem to work like they were supposed to, and for 99% of the time all I was doing was talking or texting.
So, enough was enough, ... ...you can type in those Nokia ringtones if you don't like the ones already on the phone. The sound is nice and polyphonic so you don't need to be ashamed when it rings.
Overall the design is just right as far as size goes. It fits nicely into the palm of your hand and doesn't feel like a brick in the pocket. It has a re-assuring weightiness with it. It is light without it being too light, at the same time you know you have it in your pocket without ...

Advantages: Cheap, good all-round performer in most things. Disadvantages: The screen when used in sunlight.
This cheap, and superficially cheap-looking phone, is actually quite nice bit of kit. Within its limitations it works very well in all aspects except one - its screen. As someone who is familiar with far more expensive and complex phones I loved its simplicity. Despite what it looks like it is pleasant to use and I can even forgive the slightly rubbery feel to the keys. But in the end, despite the excellent reception, good sound quality, robustness ... ...screen when I used it outside. Inside was no problem at all (although personally would have preferred a normal rather than negative monochrome screen). But outside, especially in bright sunlight, I just couldn't see a thing. However, even given the screen problem, it does have one saving grace. My eighty-two year old mother - who has difficulty with keys and seeing screens - loves it to bits. She only uses a mobile phone indoors (regarding outdoor ...

Advantages: Value for budget Disadvantages: Doesn't age well
Having owned 6 Nokia mobile phones in nearly as many years I would rate any of them well compared to what I see of other brands. This was probably one of my first and has suited the purpose very well. A great starter phone if you actually want a phone and not a toy. The display is straight-forward and easy to use. Ideal for keeping in your pocket for emergencies or getting your child or teenager started if they can handle the critisism of not having ... ...with this one you probably shouldn't have a mobile phone! On the more critical side, budget items come with a twist! It is not the most durable of phones the keypad wears quickly and it can't take a huge amount of dropping. Though as with most Nokia's it is easy to get a replacement cover. More of a concern is the battery, which you need to get into a routine with on a daily basis otherwise your emergency phone will be out of service when you most ...

Advantages: very basic, perfect entry level phone Disadvantages: A little too basic if you like a lot of gadgets
I bought this phone for my 75 year old Nanna as she wanted a simple mobile phone that just made and received calls.
Obviously in this day and age that is very hard to find, so I have to say hats off to Nokia for keeping their simple, low cost handsets on the market.
The handset comes in three colours, black, white and blue and has xpress on covers to change its appearance. It is a simple candy bar shape and is very comfortable to hold and use.
It is a dual band, which is low compared to the latest tri and quad banders, but is enough for many very basic users.
The phones menus are easy to navigate and quick to use. It has an LCD screen which does scratch easily if not cared for. It has an icon based phonebook which is very simple to use and stores all contact information nicely.
Features wise it has SMS ...

Advantages: cheap, easy, strong, light Disadvantages: not coloured, not even WAP~
This phone saved me from many expenditures. I loved colour-screen phones but they were getting damaged very easily. I don\'t know the reason. I spent too much money getting new phones so the last time i decided to find a cheap model just to make/receive calls and messages. The seller at the shop suggested this one and i accepted and thanks God it helps me everyday! Very cheap phone, about £30, not colour-screen phone but because i dont use either Bluetooth or any other wireless connections, i dont care. It is a strong mobile as when accidentally some water fall on it, nothing happened at all). In fact, previous phones i had (3G etc), just a small drop could damage them for ever. Menu is easy as all the old models of Nokia and battery lasts more than enough. Not heavy, very light and this is also a plus (+). I would suggest this model ...

Advantages: Light, Cheap at around £30, long battery life, strong Disadvantages: Not Tri-band so you can't use it in america etc
For all those people who don't want all those gadgets and features which can sometimes confuse people when using a phone, then the nokia1110i is the perfect phone for you.
This light weight, non colour phone basically just features texts and calls and is extremely easy to use. For all the simplicity of the phone it does has some modern features such as the classic snake games and polyphonic ring tones.
Its look is rather nice, fitting perfectly into your pocket and is guarenteed to last a long time being robust and strong which can't be said for some of todays phones. Also it's battery life when using it constantly for calls also seems to last a good length of time, i've let it go for a week without any problems
However for international travellers you won't be able to use it out of Europe due to it only being Dual Band ...
