I got this phone on my contract simply because i knew it being an incredilby cheap phone, i would get a good deal on my contract. And thats what it is, an incredibly cheap phone. I mean, these are availble now at £40 brand new, and thats quite good for a brand new phone.
Packaging
Well, there is n't much really in the box really. The box itself is quite plain, standard nokia with a little window to see the phone. Works well as the Nokia branding to be honest. Inside the box, you get
1 x Phone 1 x Battery 1 x Charger 1 x Manual
Thats it really. Nothing spectacular. Thats what i'm beginning to think about this phone, no nonsense and purely basic.
Initial Outlook
This phone is actually rather small. Its rather light too, lighter than my current phone to be honest! It comes in a grey and black two tone colour which doesn't look as dull as the colours suggest. Turning on the phone, there is only a 4096 colour screen, which makes the display rather grainy. There are the standard 0,1-9, * and # buttons, a 4 way navigaion button, an endcall/power button and a menu/select button. Even though the buttons are rather large, they seem a bit squished onto the phone. There aren't any particular spacings between the buttons other than the centre of the buttons slightly raised. In your hand, the phone doesn't feel chunky, but more solidly built. It feels good in your hand, like it can withstand quite a lot of bashings. Good old Nokia durability I say.
Applications
You have to remember that this phone is a very basic phone. You get the standard nokia applications which are: Alarm Clock Reminders Calculator Converter Calendar Countdown Timer Stopwatch
There aren't any particular highlights with what you get on the phone other than a "spreadsheet" application. Everything listed there does what it says really. The "spreadsheet" is quite a nifty little application, as it can record how much you spend on what each month, such as food, transport, entertainment etc and then gives you a total. You can add and delete rows too. The accounts are managed either daily or monthly, depending on what you select, but this application is only as good as the user. Will you spend time inputting into the phone what you spend on what everytime you buy something?
You get three games with this phone though, Bounce, Mobile Soccer and Nature Park. Bounce and Nature park are quite addictive puzzle game. Mobile Soccer isn't too bad, but the controls are awfully fiddly.
Connectivity
You are completely limited on connectivity with this phone. Absolutely nothing is bundled what so ever. No Bluetooth. No infrared. No GPRS. No wap. Thats right, no wap! Madness i tell you but hey, this phone doesn't have it. It's only dual band too so no trips to america with this phone.
Messaging
One thing i've always applauded Nokia for is the responsiveness of inputting text and numbers. Like all other nokias, this phone does it well. It can send and receive sms and ems, but with no wap or GPRS support, there is no MMS either.
Customisability
Custimisation is completely limited with this phone. Without the ability to download anything extra, you are strictly limited to what is on the phone already. Which isn't much really. There is a "themes" option which lets you change the display themes, a combination of menu and background colours or wallpaper and menu colours, and ringing profiles for incoming phone calls. There are thirty themes to choose from, and 34 ringing tones. There is a composer application which lets you create and add your own made up ringing tone. You are allowed five of these.
Battery
Battery life is excellent with this phone. It lasts for absolutely ages. Well, i've had it for a week and a half without charging and a few five, ten minute calls every now and then.
Call Quality
Call quality is also excellent for this phone (Network reception dependent though!) Its very crisp and clear and rather loud. However, there is no loudspeaker option.
Conclusion
There isn't very much to this phone really. Its a good quality cheap phone that will satisfy the most basic user. There are no fancy gimmicks with this phone, just a straight up well built Nokia. This really isn't good for me, but
Advantages: Logical Nokia Menu System, It's a mobile phone - no more, no less! Disadvantages: Very few in my opinion
...of wear and tear (the Nokia 3510i) and was very explicit about the fact that I didn’t want cameras, videos, multi-media messaging, GPRS and that ALL I wanted was a phone.
They told me that they had a phone that fitted the bill perfectly and that was the Nokia 2600, a basic phone with basic functions that I could have free as an upgrade providing I agreed to a further 18 month contract with them on the same tariff. Given that they had agreed to provide ... ...In keeping with all Nokia models, the 2600 uses the logical Nokia menu system that consists of a series of key headings, which are fairly self explanatory.
Messages
Contacts (Phone Book)
Call Register
Settings
Alarm Clock
Reminders
Games
Extras
Under each menu heading there is a series of sub headings which I won’t go into great detail about as these are pretty standard, e.g. add and searching for Contacts, setting ring tones and wallpapers, ...

Advantages: long battery life, easy to use Nokia features, compact, lightweight Disadvantages: no built-in camera, poor range of colours, no real ringtones
...only ever ventured away from Nokia phones once in my relatively short experience of owning mobile phones. I started with the brick like 5110, moved onto the short and dinky 8310, then the flashy and stylish 3100 and at the end of 2004 I took delivery of Plain Jane Super brain, the 2600, which has recently been consigned to the kitchen draw following a further upgrade.
When I originally took delivery of the 2600 it had only just been released by ... ...this phone and my new Nokia 6020. In a nutshell, the lack of colours does not affect the quality of the phone in any way.
One of the major factors that left me impressed with the 2600 aside from the range of features and the ease of use associated with any Nokia mobile phone was the battery life. The 2600 is powered by BL-5C Lithium battery with official Nokia statistics stating that it should remain charged for 250 hours on standby and should provide ...

Advantages: Price, Easy to Use, Looks Sophisticated Disadvantages: None, considering the price
Nokia 2600 - I am prone to dropping my mobile phone. I'm not usually that clumsy, I just can't seem to look after my phones. The one I had before this Nokia 2600 was also a nokia. My boyfriend had given me his old one as he is on a contract and got an upgrade. The old one had a camera, colour screen, radio etc etc. When I eventually broke that one too I asked myself what I actually needed in a phone, and was it worth spending a small fortune on a ... ...The Nokia 2600 isn't a camera, a radio, an MP3 or video player, it is simply a phone, but what a great phone. It makes phone calls and allows you to text. What more could you want. Nokia is a brand I know well and a company that I can trust. Their phones are durable (unless continually dropped) and reliable. I decided to stick with Nokia. I went into a few shops to see what cheap phones they had that wouldnt weigh a ton. To my delight there were ...

Advantages: Basic, easy to use Disadvantages: No internet access, multimedia messaging also overpriced
Nokia have always been great at producing good, reasonably priced low end phones, for example the 3210 / 3310 / 3330 phones are amongst the most popular phones ever so why have they released this?
The 2600 is a basic phone with the classic Nokia menu system, which cannot be faulted as it is probably the most logical, easy to use menu system any phone manufacturer uses. It is a no frills phone, it can be used to call, send texts, play a few games ... ...those just wanting a basic Nokia phone can buy the 1100 or the 3510i for around £40-£50 less, both of which have more useful features than this phone. The phone has a 4096 colour screen, but no multimedia messaging, infrared, Bluetooth, WAP or GPRS on it, making it virtually impossible to download any content such as wallpapers etc therefore making the use of a colour screen seem pretty pointless.
Anybody willing to spend over £100 on a phone can ...

Advantages: Slim, Cute and Cheap Disadvantages: Battery backup unsatisfactory
...After Nokia released the models 2760 and 2630 is the Nokia2600 classic. These models are an attempt to capture the market with features like blue tooth , video,GPRS and mp3 support and is also on the lower price range.
The 2600 classic is the newer and more modified version of the earlier 2600. This version has more facilities and functions and is much slimmer. It has got quite an attractive look with an extra panel that comes along with the pack, which I think is great. The LCD is bigger than the previous one and comes along with a headset that features an FM radio too. The battery is however unsatisfactory. You need to charge up to two times a day if you listen to music or play games. It doesn't have a music player but can play mp3 and amr formats. It has only 10 MB inbuilt memory and doesn't have expandable memory. You can...

Advantages: Slim body, Heavy battery life, Attractive design Disadvantages: No disadvantages
...Nokia classic 2600 is a combination of slim design, attractive look and pure value for money. I find it one of the slimmest phones and loaded with reasonable features like.
->Bluetooth
->VGA camera (640x480 pixels)
->10 mb internal memory (No External card support)
->video recording
->Display 128 x 160 pixels(Very bright display)
->Talk Time Up to 6 h(Brilliant talk time)
- Stereo FM radio
- Java MIDP 2.0
-very attractive key pad
Don't go to its slim body. The battery is very brilliant and after all nokia is known for its battery life.
One more thing I want to add that still the camera is a VGA camera but the picture quality is great.
Yes, since the model has a very slim body so you can face some problem in inserting the sim and opening the back cover but it is acceptable.
The mobile looks very attractive. When I...

I have ever took a picture with my girlfriend, and she was so happy after seen the picture. It was better choiche for you who also don't have enough money to buy more expensive phones.
