An easy-to-use camera combined with Bluetooth technology allows images to be easily sent, shared, stored and printed. Convenient productivity tools such as email, MMS, calendar and... more
Due to a recent family crisis I knew it was time to invest in a better mobile phone in order to be able to stay in touch with my family and friends. A basic mobile phone is what I prefer as I have a good digital camera and a good MP3 player and prefer to keep the 3 separate! As this family crisis was very unexpected and swallowed up a lot of rainy day money, spare money was also very tight and I knew I had to stick to a strict budget when looking for my new phone.
I browsed around a few of my local mobile phone shops but as I am an 02 customer they did seem to offer me the best all round deals. They only had a couple Pay As You Go mobile phones within my price range (as cheap as possible!) and at £29.99 I decided to go for the Nokia 2630, a basic but stylish looking phone at a very reasonable price. I was also given the opportunity to trade in my old phone, which would take another £5 from the total price, of course, I took them up on the offer!

The Packaging
The phone was very neatly packed in a small and very compact cardboard box along with the small charger, hands-free headset and instruction booklet. When I first turned the phone on there was enough charge for me to use the phone for a couple of hours, which was quite useful, as I wasn't going straight home.
My Experience With The Phone
My first impressions were "love at first sight". I loved the sleek and stylish look of the phone from the instant I saw it. Its very shiny, black and slim design makes it quite eye-catching and, I feel, a very feminine phone.
The back of the phone is a matt black finish, while the front of the phone is a lovely glossy black with a band of silver around the edge and the navigation keys to the centre of the phone are also in silver.
The number keys are glossy black with blue digits printed on them and are flush with the phone but are still very easy to press, I thought it might be a bit tricky to press each key individually with them all being flush, but I certainly haven't had any problems with this. Although perhaps someone with larger fingers might.
Navigation using the menu is also foolproof, as is usually the case with Nokia phones. You just press the centre menu button and navigate your way to where you want to go using the arrow keys.
I've never had a phone with Bluetooth before and was quite impressed with this feature, as I was able to send up-to-date pictures of Erin's improvement in hospital daily to my friends and family back home.
The VGA camera is easily accessed by a quick action button on the side of the phone, it doesn't take the best of quality photos but then I didn't want the phone for the camera. It takes decent enough photos to use as your screen saver or to send to other phones.
The 4 navigation arrow keys each have a quick action function as well, one also takes you directly to the camera, one to your text messaging function, one to your phone book and one to your calendar. You can also access the FM radio by pressing and holding the star key and the silent mode by pressing and holding the hash key.
I never turn my phone off and usually use it at least a couple of times a day for calls and texts and have only ever needed to give it a charge once a week. It takes about 40 minutes to fully charge the battery.
All in all I have found this a really great little phone. It is lightweight, slim and attractive looking, easy to use with great reception and sound quality. A great way to keep in touch with friends and family at those all important times in your life. It has a great little radio and a camera too, what more could you want from a phone!
I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone out there who is just looking for a phone as a means of communication, it has everything you could possibly need.
My only complaints would be (petty as they may seem) remembering to lock the keypad, my last 2 phones were flip phones and I just can't seem to remember to lock the keypad and I keep phoning people I don't want to phone!!! But then that's not the fault of the phone, that's my fault. And trying to keep the ear prints and fingerprints off of the beautiful glossy front, but then that would mean stopping using the phone.
...not as good as a Nokia I had about 6 years ago in terms of battery life though, which is disappointing. The keypad is reasonably easy to use, if a little stiff. Overall Impression-
This phone is good if you just want the basics but want a smart-looking phone for a reasonable price. The entire spec of the phone can be found here: http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4405744. ...

Advantages: Cheap and actually for the price looks ok Disadvantages: May be too feature poor for some
...navigational button and the normal Nokia features. The colour screen is large enough, colour, and easy to read - I measured the display at 30mm by 40mm - I couldn't find this information anywhere so I am not sure what the manufacturer's claimed display size is. For the technically minded it is 128 x 160 pixels; to me this means nothing but what is more important to me is that the screen is fine for viewing e.g. the picture of a friend's newborn. ... ...(I personally like the intuitive Nokia menus) and reception is fine in my rather far from a mast home. Actually reception is better than with my previous more expensive phone. Battery life, which was the only feature I found out about before purchase is absolutely fine. My phone is switched on much of the time and I don't have to charge it more than about once a week or so, though if you used it more than me or used the other features I would imagine ...

Advantages: well built, cheap to buy, camera ain't too bad Disadvantages: fiddly direction key, and impossible to get the battery in/out without breaking ur fingernails
...few weeks back after my Nokia N-Gage started playing silly sods (probably just needs a new battery, hopefully) + VODAFONE somehow lost my number with them... which I'm guessing was something to do with not having used it to phone/text anyone for x-number of months 'cos all my contacts were seemingly too busy doing other stuff to want me calling / texting them.... I even contacted VODAFONE customer service about my giving me my number back, and the ... ...brighter than on my posher Nokia N-Gage smartphone... indoors it's just about possible to light up a room, while outdoors it works just enough to find the keyhole in the dark + just about see the steps up to the flat enough to not go flying arse over tits in the dark when I forget to turn on the outside light before I go out. The phone is extremely thin & compact, being not much thicker than a pen.... and feels extremely well screwed together. Overall ...

Nokia 2630
****
Here is a budget phone from nokia and its providing good value for money, here is a brief discuss about this phone, announced in May 2007 to capture budget market.

First of all wide range of network coverage for all around the world as GSM 900 / 1800 GSM 850 / 1900. And this phone has excellent feature that is its size.. a good slim and handy phone with size of 105 x 45 x 9.9 mm, 45, where 9.9mm is its thickness and you can ... ...700Mah capacity of battery and nokia are claiming to provide 6 hours of talk time, but reality is that it can be fully discharge after 3 hours of continuous talking or playing music on Fm. FM run time is something less than its talk time.

Overall conclusion..
If you are planning to buy a cheap phone for only the purpose of conversation than it will be better choice and this phone can be improved with providing card slot and removing its VGA ...

...of these "Jewels in the Nokia crown". I am also a bit of a closet technophobe, and even I have got to grips with it.
You can get a leather case for them from about four Pounds. Mine is used without a leather case, proving it is easy enough to slip in your pocket, purse, or wherever you like. It is the easiest phone to operate since the Nokia 3310 in my opinion. It is so light you could use it as a key ring! The phones are very cheap, and being Nokia, ... ...internet, I have no ecperience of this. The list of features are not that impressive to many on here with £300 phones, but having said that, I would put my little jewel up against the vast majority of modern phones. If we award points for good things, and deduct for bad, we are on to a winner here. Take for instance the fact that it is not a slider phone, anyone using a slider on say a building site environment, will tell you they are not practical ...

Advantages: Slim, Stereo FM Disadvantages: 2MP camera, taditional classic design
..., means overall construction is handy and pockatable. And how can we ignore its weight... ohh sure it having 91gm of total weight, if we think about my previous review of nokia2630, that is also slim design and having weight of 61gm, but 91gm is not so bad because featured phone can go up to this type of weight but still it is handy and pockatable.
***
Network coverage of this phone have all GSM frequency capable like GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 GSM 850 / 1800 / 1900, and that is all available GSM frequency all over the world so the phone is able to rock in all directions.
Now the another main feature is its screen size and resolution 240 x 320 pixels, in inches it is 2.0 inches diagonally, or counted in mm as 31 x 41 mm with 16 million of colors. Now the maximum medium budget phone has this kind of screen and that is not bad at all. 16 million...

Advantages: Slim, Cute and Cheap Disadvantages: Battery backup unsatisfactory
...After Nokia released the models 2760 and 2630 is the Nokia 2600 classic. These models are an attempt to capture the market with features like blue tooth , video,GPRS and mp3 support and is also on the lower price range.
The 2600 classic is the newer and more modified version of the earlier 2600. This version has more facilities and functions and is much slimmer. It has got quite an attractive look with an extra panel that comes along with the pack, which I think is great. The LCD is bigger than the previous one and comes along with a headset that features an FM radio too. The battery is however unsatisfactory. You need to charge up to two times a day if you listen to music or play games. It doesn't have a music player but can play mp3 and amr formats. It has only 10 MB inbuilt memory and doesn't have expandable memory. You can...

Advantages: Slim, light and easy to navigate Disadvantages: Having an Orange contract which connection/signal is always a problem
...AND BATTERYAside from its lightness, it contains a higher internal memory capacity than Samsungs G600 and U700 and of course comparable to Blackberry's Pearl models. It is better than Nokia's models 2630 and 2760 (11MB) or the slide 6500 which is only 20MB. It is advisable to acquire additional external memory card (microSD up to 2GB). The 60MB internal memory is enough to hold a reasonable number of photos and songs, including video clips. If I want to take more images and videos, then I normally use my digital camera for higher resolution.
The life span of the battery is reasonable. Technically, it is designed to have a talking time of 4 hours, but in my experience I don't reach that length of time of chatting, otherwise I will exceed my allowable monthly calls of 225 minutes (around 2.5 hours) if I will test this capability. For simple...
