I now have his phone, and am very well pleased with it. It is sort of nice, like an old friend, the feeling you get after a lot of ups and downs with someone special. The thing is, I have only had it for a few days! I am not the easiest person to please, and for me to say this is special, is a real compliment. I now have a relationship with one of these "Jewels in the Nokia crown". I am also a bit of a closet technophobe, and even I have got to grips with it.
You can get a leather case for them from about four Pounds. Mine is used without a leather case, proving it is easy enough to slip in your pocket, purse, or wherever you like. It is the easiest phone to operate since the Nokia 3310 in my opinion. It is so light you could use it as a key ring! The phones are very cheap, and being Nokia, you can apparently unlock them using codes from on the internet, I have no ecperience of this.
The list of features are not that impressive to many on here with £300 phones, but having said that, I would put my little jewel up against the vast majority of modern phones. If we award points for good things, and deduct for bad, we are on to a winner here. Take for instance the fact that it is not a slider phone, anyone using a slider on say a building site environment, will tell you they are not practical for anywhere there is a speck of dust. I am not saying ant phone is best suited on site, just that some phones like sliders are completely unsuitable.
As for it being slim, that is an understatement, the thickness is a tad under TEN mm! More points there then. The keys are spaced out a treat, making texting a doddle. The large screen is a TFT one with 65.000 colours, better than lots of more expensive handsets. It comes with a VGA camera, for stills as well as video, this is fitted with a 4 x zoom lens, unlike most phones, more points yet again!
It is of course compatible with Bluetooth devices like PCs, and hands free kits, although there is a hands free feature already fitted, you simply put it on loudspeaker mode and leave the phone on your seat, desk, or whatever. For the younger users mostly, it has games, and it also supports Java. The built in radio is pretty good, but does require the headphones to be plugged in, as this acts as the aerial. The phone also supports modern features like MP3 & polyphonic ringtones, WAP etc, so you can access the net, send e-mails etc.
There is an internal supply of memory, this is 11 Mbs, and has been criticised in the past as being too limited, unfortunately there is no memory slot, so this can not be expanded. (Points lost there) Mine is on the Orange network, which I am well pleased with.
Anther criticism I have heard, is the battery time, it is actually an amazing 312 hours of standby time, and if you were to talk to some "Scatty Blonde" you would be stuck for SIX HOURS! Even the address book holds a Thousand names! I could also boast that this little jewel weighs just 66 grammes, lighter than the majority I suspect.
All in all, I think this is a brilliant budget phone, It is made from Aluminium, even the battery cover, so is more rugged than it looks. My little Jewel's brilliant. If my phone kept getting broken or stolen, I would choose to have my lovely Jewels again and again and again!

My lovely Nokia (complete with Mr. Tickle screensaver) has gone back to Finland to be repaired. It has been there for weeks. If they phone to tell me that it had to be sent away to live on a farm with lots of other puppies and that they're sending me a replacement, I shall be upset. xx

I am looking forward to going back to Nokia - I know exactly what you mean by that "old friend" remark, I have a fancy LG with which I have had a hate / hate relationship since first trading my last Nokia in against it! Richard.
