I got a Nokia 3200 back in October 2003 when they were first out. My first thought was: Where are all the buttons?! Until it was pointed out to me that each button has two numbers on it to make the phone look different.
The 3200 is not that smallest phone on the market, I would say it is a practical size, it wouldn't be easy to lose but its not a big Dom Jolly fellow either!! It has a clear plastic cover in which you can insert different "slides" which I find to be a bit of a disadvantage because it is not easily replaced when scratched. It may also be looked at as an advantage though as you can change the look of your phone regularly. It comes with 3 ready made slides and a bag of blank ones for you to design as you wish. You will also find coordinating screensavers saved in the phone to match the slides provided. I'll just run through the menu options to give you an idea of the phone.
Messaging: The phone can be used for sms and mms, unfortunately, I have not been able to use the mms as yet due to the lack of instructions provided by nokia. I believe that the phone does not come ready to use mms, the settings have to be installed. Text messaging from the phone is easy, it has predictive text messaging although it can be switched off for those who prefer the long way.
Call Register: Standard call register available, last dialled, received and missed calls.
Contacts: You can save numbers to both the phone and the sim card. When a number is saved to the phone it is possible to have more than one number under the same name, i.e. house, mobile and work number under one entry.
Settings: Settings are fairly basic, must admit I was slightly disappointed at the lack of ring tones stored in the phone. Although there is room to download more.
Gallery: This is the part of the phone where you can store most things you've downloaded. Your photo's, tones and recordings are all filed here.
Media: This is the fun part! Here you will find your camera which boasts a night vision facility for darker areas. The radio which, unfortunately, requires a headset to operate and the voice recorder which I have found you can have a lot of fun with. It allows you to record anything you like and you are able to save it as a ring tone.
Organiser: Very useful tools. Contains calculator, calendar and alarm clock. Pretty straight forward, I don't think I need to explain.
Applications: This is where the games are. There is Virtual me which is similar to the sort of game you might use a dance mat for on a computer except you only have to press the keys to the beat. And Bounce, which is a ball that you have to direct through levels being careful not to burst it. I was disappionted that snake was not on this phone at purchase. There is a facility to download more games.
Services: The web basically, not much explaining needed.
Go to: A shortcut to the most used features of the phone.
My services: Not entirely sure what this is for as I have never used it!!
The 3200 keeps its charge for around 4 days with average use. It boasts a loudspeaker which I find to be ideal for when you are busy with something else while on the phone. It also has a very bright torch intigrated into the bottom which is really handy for finding the keyhole late at night, finding my bed after I've switched the light off, and a variety of other thing too, I'm sure.
Overall View: Good value for money. Trendy looking phone but there is room for improvement.
