My first ever mobile phone was a Mercury One2One, I bought this phone about 8 years ago which at the time was on demand. How things have changed since then, mobile phones are no longer your simple bulky handsets with restricted features ~ Instead they have become more sophisticated looking and more advanced than ever before, equipped with all the modern features one needs to communicate around the globe.
Since then I’ve had two other mobile phones ~ The Nokia 3210 and the one I have at the moment is the Nokia 3310. I’ve been using the Nokia 3310 for almost a year now and I now know why this mobile phone has become so popular and continues to do so.
========== • ~ Looks & style ~ • ================
There are not many phones out there that can beat the Nokia 3310 on looks & style ~ This small compact easy to use mobile phone looks good and feels good. It’s slim-line shape fits nicely in the palm of your hand when making a call, a perfect size phone where your hand and fingers can get a good feel of the phone when speaking ~ not like those tiny mobiles where you have to use
two fingers to hold the phone, unable to get a good grip. The Nokia 3310 is also much lighter than the 3210 giving it that extra edge over its previous models.
The keypad displayed on the phone is clear and easy to use ~ The silver number keys feel smooth on the finger when dialing, the keys being not too big or small just the right size. Other visible function keys on the Nokia 3310 is the power key button which is made out of rubber and can be found on top of the phone. You also have the selection key, cancel key, scroll key and at the base of the phone you have two small sockets ~ the battery charger socket and the personal handsfree socket. All keys are clearly displayed which adds to the looks and style of the phone.
One of the things I like about the Nokia 3310 mobile phone is the display screen ~ a clear and large display screen dominates the face of the phone. Due to its nice size you can have loads of symbols showing on the screen all at once and still have no problems identifying them. When switching the power the display screen will show two bars, one is the reception bar and the other is battery life bar – both of these bars will always be displayed on your phone. You also have the option of displaying the time, screen savers, key lock etc……….
~~~ Overall Verdict on looks 10/10 ~~~
======================= • ~ What lies behind the Nokia 3310 ~ •
=======================
• ~ Phonebook ~ My phone allows me store up to 90 names and numbers on my SIM card. Storing names and numbers of friends and family is very simple. Press the menu button that will take you to the phonebook option you then press select and voila you’re in – the rest is self explanatory. Making a call using your phonebook is even easier, just search for the person you want to call in your phonebook then press the call button. When receiving calls the name of the person you added to your phone book will show up on the display screen. Names and numbers can also be erased and edited.
• ~ Answer Phone ~ If for some reason you don’t answer an incoming call or your phone is switched off then you can always leave a message on the answer phone. Listening to your messages on the Nokia 3310 couldn’t be any easier ~ a symbol is displayed on your screen notifying you that you have a message. You can also personalize your answer phone greeting or you can use the standard greeting.
• ~ Text messages ~ Nowadays text messaging is more popular than phone calls. It’s a fun and easy way to keep in touch with friends, family and business colleagues. The Nokia 3310 has some great features to make sending messages quicker and easier ~ you can use up to 459 characters when sending a text message which is more than enough characters. You can also send picture messages but do make sure the person receiving them has a compatible phone if not the picture will not come out. The following Nokia`s can receive picture messages ~ Nokia 8850 – 8210 – 6210 – 3210 and of course the Nokia 3310. When a message arrives (depending on your settings) you will hear a ringing tone or beep and a symbol of an envelope will appear on your display screen with the words “ 1 message received”.
• ~ Screen Savers ~ You can personalize your main display by choosing a screen saver ~ The Nokia 3310 has a wide selection of screen savers to pick from. No more boring plain screens but happy faces, hearts or even a beach screen saver can give your mobile that extra added touch.
• ~ Games ~ Games on a mobile, whatever next - The 3310 come with four games that you can play any time. The following games are Snake II – Space Impact – Bantumi and Pairs II
• ~ Voice Dialling ~ The Nokia 3310 comes equipped with voice recognition ~ this means you can now call a number simply by saying the name of the person you want to call. This will only work if you create voice tags to the names and numbers you have in your phonebook.
• ~ Ringing Tones ~ The Nokia 3310 has 35 ringing tones, an array of different musical tunes each unique in its own way. There is also space to receive another seven additional ring tones that you can compose yourself or download them.
• ~ X-press- On Covers ~ With the Nokia 3310 you can buy several different coloured front and back cover panels. They are easy to fit, a smart idea if you are bored with the colour of your phone and you want to change the look.
• ~ Talk/Standby Time ~ The phone’s battery has 4.5 hours talk time and 5.5 days standby time. When the battery is running low the words “Low Battery” will be displayed.
• ~ Handsfree ~ When I bought the Nokia 3310 I was given a handfree kit; the headset connects to the bottom of the phone and the earpiece in your ear –leaving your hands free to do other things.
==================== • ~ Other features/accessories ~ •
====================•~ Alarm Clock •~ Calculator •~ Keypad lock ~ Avoid making calls by mistake •~ Call waiting •~ Leather Case. •~ Phone Vibrates.
• ~ Nokia 3310 pay as you go will set you back £100.
The Nokia 3310 is a very good mobile phone ~ A modern handset that is equipped with all the modern features one needs. I have been using this mobile for almost a year now and have not encountered any problems. It serves me well and what I like most about this phone is the simplicity of use ~ under all that modern technology the Nokia 3310 really is easy to use, all the menu functions are clear and easy to follow that even a novice can tackle. The Nokia 3310 is value for money and I have no hesitation in recommending this mobile as a worthwhile purchase.
The Nokia 3310 is a classic Mobile, which also has the benefit of being customisable with more
Xpress on covers. This phone has an internal antenna, so it has curved lines and a low profile. Dual band capability means you can use your phone abroad, and battery life can be up to one week! The 3310 has a real-time clock, which will time-stamp all your calls and you can also use it as an alarm, as a stop watch and for reminders. T9 predictive text enables you to type messages faster and picture messaging is also supported. SIM toolkit gives you quick access to extra information menus and a vibrating alert enables you to answer calls and messages discreetly. A number of speed dialling options are available, including voice dialling for up to 8 numbers. You can store main contact numbers on the SIM card. There are 35 ring tones to choose from and space for 7 more, which you can either create using the built-in composer or receive as a message. Profiles for phone behaviour can be customised, or downloaded, and any picture messages can be used as a screensaver when the phone is not in use. Special features include chat messaging, Concatenated messages, and smilie templates. Call charges on Orange Pre-pay packages - several to choose from inc free text and call packs
Advantages: Small,easy to carried and kept in the pocket,lots of future and user friendly. Disadvantages: Small screen 1.8 inch 176 x 220, no memory expansion, camera cmos 0.3 megapixel and loose navigation key
