This was the first cell phone I ever owned with a colour screen. It was also my first (and LAST) cell phone made by Nokia.
I Was Impressed With Its Features
I was looking for a cell phone initially on behalf of a friend with cerebral palsy who wanted a phone easy to read, hold and use. At 105gm, and about the size of a candy bar, it was very comfortable to hold, and the keys had sufficient separation to look like they would be easy to press individually. The 1½" x 1" (or 1¾" diagonal) screen was clear, with signal strength clearly shown up one side and battery strength the other.
The choice of available colour wallpaper pictures was attractive, and
Unwanted pictures could be deleted to increase memory (but beware: once deleted, you cannot restore).
You can store 500 numbers in the directory, including multiple numbers on the same name.
The menu has large print plus icon on 13 full-screen 'pages' (Phonebook, Messages, Call Register, Tones, Profiles, Settings, Gallery, Games, Organiser, Applications, Extras, Services, Interactive) each of which has sub-menus.
Organiser includes calendar (with ability to add notes and alerts) and alarm clock.
Text messages are easy to create either from a template (pre-set), an archived message (pre-saved for regular re-use), or totally new; using standard or assisted (T9) text.
Side and top amber panels flash when call/text received or while playing certain games.
Although the main use would be to make and receive calls and text messages, the polyphonic ring tones, with ability to have a vibrating alert and silent option (with flashing lights) seemed really useful.
When l made calls, reception was clear and call quality was good (although this is often more to do with network coverage than handset function), and it was reasonably easy to both use numbers stored to make calls and to type in a new number to make a call.
So What Went Wrong?
For some reason, no matter how hard I tried, I just could not get used to the way the phone worked. Every time the phone rang, I tried to answer it. With arthritic fingers, it was difficult to press the correct key in time to receive the call. I tried setting the phone as "any key answer" like I had on my Siemens C35i and MT50 phones ~ I was HALF-WAY there; but now it gave me a choice of "Accept" or "Reject" and I just couldn't press the correct sequence in time. Time after time I lost the call.
The settings were not as easy to personalise as my former Siemens models had been. I couldn't seem to get used to trying to find the information I wanted, and it wasn't where I expected to find it. I got fed-up watching the folders opening and closing every time I read a message before I could read the next one; it was just so slow. I kept being offered options I hadn't considered or didn't understand when I entered numbers; only to be told "stop" when I tried them because it was inappropriate for the number entered. Charging took overnight, which I found too long as I liked the quick-charge of my Siemens phones. The phone just was not "fun" to use as a telephone. I was happy to use it in tandem with my Siemens MT50contract phone, as the contract phone only held a limited number of contacts, and only one number per name, but not as the main point of contact.
One thing l nearly forgot to mention ~ my friend didn't like the "feel" of the keys; however, as l liked the MASSIVE directory l kept the phone. . . . ALSO, although the phone has GPRS and Java, it doesn't have more modern features like camera, radio, MP3 player, Bluetooth, memory card upgrade; it is, really, a very basic phone for making calls and sending text messages . . . and a brilliant portable electronic telephone directory.
Conclusions
I put my pay-as-you-goSIM card in the phone to keep it "active" to use as an ORGANISER TELEPHONE DIRECTORY. It had an amazing capacity to store information, and I really liked the gallery picture of a rainbow (rainbow.jpg) which I renamed "God Always Cares!" and used as my Wallpaper. I charged it about once a week to ten days, and used it to make daytime emergency calls outside my contract phone's allowance. I had to use it again as my regular phone for a short while when I drowned my MT50 until I got my replacement . . . but, that's another story! The MT50 was a phone l could trust and l didn't mean to drown her sister!
I already have too many mobile phones but great review! Very helpful.

Had one of these too and actually found that the spacing on the buttons made it pretty easy to use. Now relegated to outdoor use only because its loud, shows up and bounces The screen seems very small by today's standards now. Still a Nokia fan!! Well constructed review.
