Well, lets start. I bought the 5100, from the e-shop, nice price £158 pounds, offline. (themobileprepublic.com) As a resent, this was a perfect gift, because the person it was bought for was a mechanic. I thought buying more stylish and sleek business style phone would be highly inappropriate. Imagine, it’d lie in the car of somewhere “safe” instead of being used, in case it scratches. Mechanics, what else to say.
Well, back to the phone. Nice price, and decent specs. Listen: FM RADIO, GPRS enabled wap ( you only pay for what you download , and no more “per-minute” fees while you are surfing wap. Check with your phone’s settings and service provider maybe very cheap. If you are an intensive NET user and have accounts with MSN and/or Yahoo, there are some messengers you can download for your phones, like QSM messenger – anyhow check the midlets.net website. For yahoo, well, its is really smart it allows users to log onto the WAP – MESSENGER, best one is the US version (time is wrong, if used here, in UK) try www.wap.yahoo.com or other way round, in any case, post here, and I will paste the exact addresses if necessary.
So, ah! As I said, back to the phone. Resolution is quite good, like 6610 or 7210/7250, the phone is apparently the 4’th series. So you get 4096 colours. It’s enough for a good pic/photo of anyone to be set as wallpaper. Trust me on this. You don’t need 16-bit screens on phones to do this. I have also had this phone as a replacement of mine for few months. It is very durable, the cover is really truly, shock/dust and water resistant. When you slide covers off the phone, you’ll reveal the metal inside of the phone, this phone is carefully thought through. Hard case, I dropped it, on pavement, asphalt, carpet, from stairs, not on purpose of course. It withstands it perfectly, nothing even creeks, ok. But, however, because it is so “protected” I found it hard using it’s keyboard to text or chat on yahoo messenger (on wap). You need to press like 2 times harder than say 6610. But I used it quite a lot. With the O2 car, where you get 300 free sms messages a month when you charge the £10, - wow there was a great test. It’s a good phone, however you should not be getting it, unless you’re like a builder or mechanic or something, or someone who worries about the phone and don’t want to be buying a new phone every year, because old one breaks. Nokia- reliable. But this phone is “quiet”, builders don’t have time to “chat” using the number pad, well, if they are, they have strong fingers…lol
Anyhow, Screen is great, Phone’s “safe”. Now, Polyphonic ring tones. The 4’th series, these phone, including 6610, 6100, 7210, 7250. There is only 4-notes it can play. Not 16 like some Samsungs, not mp3s. It plays specific midi formatted files with 4 note compositions. Its enough there are a lot of websites on WAP, where you get them free, 1000’s, trust me loads. Ok. This is mine http://www.tagtag.com/yarowap - still has ring tones, and wallpaper, etc. Not updated, maybe later.

Tha flashlight was very useful during winter. And i dont even dont have to go about the battery life, come on its nokia - holds for ages, i charged it only few times a week (3 time -4 times depends on usage)
Bought the Nokia 5100 in order to have a sturdy cell phone with IrDA and HSD.
Cover:
The Nokia 5100 is made of the same sheet metal and plastic as any other phone underneath the cover, so we won't find any special sturdiness here. The cover itself is made in rubber, which makes the keys quite hard to use (when e.g. writing SMS messages). The plugs for headset and poweramp in the bottom is protected by a rubber flap which will probably fall off ... ...information.
Extras:
The Nokia 5100 is shipped with a power amp and a headset with a built-in radio. The charger is unfortuneately of different standard than the ones used on 3210. The headset is made in a quality that just don't last and allready one wire is broken. The radio was good, though.
Two mini-jacks and a radio built-in the phone would be a much better solution.
The Nokia 5100 has a lamp built in which is supricingly useful. Only minus ...

Nokia 5100
-----------------
I was looking for a present for my sons 18th birthday and, as he wanted a new mobile, we sat down at the computer and searched through the phones that were available.
What he was looking for
Surprisingly enough, he wasn’t interested in cameras, video recorders or MP3 players. He wanted something tough that he could use to text and phone his mates.
What we found
Well we found this sporty looking phone with a protective ... ...at a time in the Nokia 5100:

Advantages: Modern Design, Xpress on covers, Sturdy shockproof design Disadvantages: Keypad, rubber covering, on/off button
...this is not your usual Nokia phone. It's something quite unique. The first shockproof, colour screen mobile phone to be released in the UK boasts a number of features you would not find on a regular mobile phone. To start off with, a rather impressive LED flashlight, which takes no additional battery usage, meaning it can be used for up to 15 hours non-stop as well as the added extra of being able to use the normal features of the phone at the same ... ...you would expect from every Nokia phone, the 5100 being no different. Disadvantages:
1) A very stubborn on/off button, when used with the official Nokia Covers. You need to really push and hold firmly for a few seconds, which can cause minor discomfort and irritation to the fingertips. However, many unofficial covers, while being of a slightly lower quality, have a far easier to use on/off button, as well as being around half the price, sometimes ...

Advantages: Polyphonic, Colour Screen, Torch and much much more Disadvantages: on/off switch, its size
I have owned the Nokia 5100 for nearly a year now, I got mine as an upgrade from the 5210 at Phones 4U.
When I first saw this phone I couldn’t really see why I would want it because its not the nicest of looking phones when put next too some of the phones on the market, but I wasn’t going to let my first opinion make my decision I did actually want to get to know what this phone could offer me that my current phone couldn’t.

FM Stereo Radio – The phone comes with a headset, which is needed to listen to the built in radio. The quality of the reception for the radio is really quite good also.
Flashlight – This may not give out the best light and replace a torch but if there’s nothing else to hand it would do the trick, and it uses very little battery.
Games – There ...

Advantages: durable, latest 5 series model Disadvantages: keypad not easy to use + screen problems
recorder, flashlight, FM radio, thermometer, decibel meter (?), and a good personal organiser with an extensive calendar and notes option.
Sadly, the display is still only 4096 colours and is small at 128 x 128 pixels. The STN technology used means that the display is difficult to see when outdoors - a real problem when you consider the target market for this phone. Nokia really lags the competition when it comes to display technology. Polyphonic ringtones are also basic.
The camera provided is of average quality and the video recorder rather poor quality. The memory available is limited and so video clips are short. The poor quality of the display means that pictures and videos are small and hard to see.
The keypad, like that of the Nokia5100 is not very easy to use. The keys are located close together and are not very responsive ...

Advantages: looks and screen Disadvantages: reception!!!
Well, at the beginning I really liked the Nokia 6100. It looks quite good and the screen didn't put me off either. But after a few days I noticed that the mobile phone kept loosing reception. Before you ask, no it's not because of a bad network quality as I had good reception with other mobile phones. I thought maybe the phone is faulty and requested a new one. But still the same problem. The Nokia5100 has a similar problem but not to this extent. Just for this one point I wouldn't recommend this phone.
Other points: you can store up to 150 text messages on the phone. I think it's quite poor that there is only one game on this mobile phone. Don't know if this is the same on every one. You can send and receive MMS but it's not possible to attach a cam. The polyphonic ringtones are ok and they are surely better than the "normal ...

Advantages: Great phone Disadvantages: 3210 is taking the edge
The Nokia nk402 is one of the 5100 series featuring the NAVI key concept. This multi-functional key, combined with a clever menu system, does away with several keys (such as SEND, END) after a bit of practise it is so easy to use the NAVI key.
You have the option of changing its front cover to suit your mood or outfit. With many covers available in all sorts of colours and patterns. Although these covers aren?t cheap, one is at least £10 and can be as much as £25 for an elaborate pattern- surely a gimmick!
The phone features a full- graphic screen, three games (snake being one which is highly addictive!), an alarm clock, phone number book, calculator and a short stub of an aerial. Weighing in at 167g and has talk time of 180 minutes as well as being available on pre pay it is a highly recommended versatile phone. Now it is ...
