As you can tell from the title, in my opinion this phone is very much in a niche market. The styling, the robustness, and the overall look suggest to me this is most likely to be seen in the baggy pockets of the skateboarders in your local town centre!
That's not to say that this phone wont appeal to others. I've just purchased one of these for my girlfriend who wanted a colour phone with all the toys, but didn't want to spend a fortune. So 25 later, and signed up to a fantastic tariff, she owned this wicked mobile! I myself own a 6100, and was amazed to find that the 5100 does EVERYTHING mine does, and more. Let me take you through some of the features offered: Full colour screen, polyphonic ringtones, WAP compatible, games (also downloadable, along with tones and graphics), calendar and 'to do' list, completely customisable even down to the menu colours, radio... the list goes on! But this is all pretty run of the mill stuff these days. But hold on... it's got a thermometer, a decibell meter, a calorie counter, and a torch... YES, a torch! During a little experiment I left the torch on for four hours and the battery indicator had hardly moved. It's not exactly a halogen beem, but it's great for seeing the lock when you come home a bit drunk! As for the styling, it's very much love it or hate it, but it does grow on you. As for the hardwearing shell (which is incredibly easy to remove) take this into account. My other half got into her car leaving the phone on the roof (we've all done it!) and drove off. The phone bounced about 5 times and came to rest without so much as a scratch. Pretty impressive stuff.
So, I've not said anything detrimental yet. That's because there's nothing to say. The phone is fantastic, especially for 25! If I HAD to be critical I could only comment on the overall size... or the 'brick factor' as I call it.
But if you're after a very cool, easy to use (the trusty Nokia interface) and gadget-laden phone, without the need for it too be the size of a ten pence piece, then the 5100 could be for you. Try it... you'll love it!

Advantages: Almost waterproof, "droppable", a tough simple phone, nice battery life Disadvantages: Thermometer not accurate, expensive exterior covers that become less effective with age
