Among phones, and especially, PDAs, appears a new trend in matter of design. Many more brands, Nokia being one of them, produces phones more and more "sensible" to touch.

The number of buttons is minimized as much as possible, and their place is replaced by bigger and bigger TFT touch screens. Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is another proof that men don't want just a phone but a technological jewel. The menus with very suggestive icons are also found in this phone. This version operates on Symbian, 9.4 version. The "others" prefer Windows Mobile.

The data transfer is a part of standard settings. It might have been weird if we wouldn't said about Nokia XpressMusic the following statements :

- 3G
- Wi-Fi
- Gps
- 3.15 mp camera, Carl Zeiss.

Where do we know this phone? The Dark Knight. Yes, this great phone appears when Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) pulls it out of his pocket. Until then there were just rumors that Nokia will release finally a phone with a touch screen of the third generation (after Nokia 7710 and Nokia 6708). The official release date of this phone, also known as Nokia Tube, was 2 octobre.

Even if Nokia is leader on the phone market, they didn't hurry to produce a brand new touch screen. When Apple sold 1 million phones in two months, officials from Nokia affirmed with a little arrogance - "It's very nice for Apple to have sold 1.000.000 phones, but this is the number of phones we sold a few days ago."

Let's get back to our wonder-phone. Nokia proposes a terminal with numerous advanced multimedia functions, which are applicable, in the same time, with Internet navigation and business features. For the web, it has HSDPA technology and Wi-Fi connectivity. For business, it has Symbian S60 (or version 9.4), updated so it can support the touch screen.

This device has also Gps (A-Gps and pre-installed Nokia Maps).

The multimedia side has changed a lot. First of all, the touch screen, 3.2 inch and 360 x 640 resolution. Nokia 5800 XpressMusic brings up an innovation that will make more likeable the experience audio-photo-video-web : The Media Bar menu, optimized for touch interaction which gives you instant access to favorite files and web addresses. The same goes for Contact Bars - it allows you to select four friends from the agenda and place them on the screen. From there, you will access the archive with last calls, messages, received images and also information from personal blogs.

The visualization modes, portrait and landscape are made in an automat way, thanks to the accelerometer.

The camera has (only, for such a phone) 3.2 MP, but the Carl Zeiss lens makes these number not count so much. The quality of video recording is very good, VGA resolution 30 frames/second.

Nokia 5800XpressMusic is promoted like a musical phone, so, on his audio part, you can find a lot of dedicated functions. It has stereo, a jack of 3.5 mm, support Stereo Bluetooth, 8 Giga MicroSD, player with equalizer and other advanced settings. At the end of 2008, his price may stabilize around 300 euro. Until then, watch again the movie and wait for that moment.

Last night, I watched “Jai Ho (You are My Destiny),” PCD’s new music video wherein they apply lyrics to a song from the Oscar-award winning movie Slumdog Millionaire’s soundtrack. At about 10 seconds, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is seen in a random Doll’s hand.
