Advantages: Camera, mp3 player, fm radio, and the list goes on! Disadvantages: memory card can be fiddly
My Nokia 3330 was starting to irritate me - it didn't have a very long standby time and the memory was appalling, so I went off in search of a new phone and quickly decided that I wanted to get a camera phone. However, choosing it was a major task. I want to include the selection process of my phone in my op, as to me it forms part of the overall review.
~~~Phone Selection~~~
I'm not exactly a mobile phone buff, and I found going into mobile phone ... ...wanted to go back to Nokia with their next phone. I found this all very confusing and decided to brave the mobile phone shops!! My first shop was Carphone Warehouse and they have a very handy monthly magazine that describes phones and tariffs. On reading this magazine and examining the phones on offer, I discovered that they had made the Nokia 6230 their phone of the year and had given one to each of their managers as they were so impressed with ...
Advantages: Good quality camera, stylish phone, MP3 Player, Memory Card Disadvantages: Limited availability at launch, Awkward Covers, Overburdened buttons and menus, Some software bugs
...apparent demise on my old Nokia 7250 after an unfortunate encounter with a toilet, I needed to source a replacement.
Having crappy insurance cover, which didn’t cover “water damage”, meant that a new phone was called for. My 7250 was just about out of contract, so I was basically free to choose a jolly nice new toy from any of the networks (I don’t bother taking my number with me). A quick squiz around mobileshop.com revealed a smart looking bit ... ...phone comes with the standard Nokia charger, 32MB memory card, headphone thingies, user manual and a software disc. The process of fitting the memory card was quick and easy as it just slot into place (as soon as I had it the correct way up) and the sim card and battery soon followed. I then had a bit of a struggle snapping the covers into place (and I’ll be buggered if I can remove them again) to complete the phone.
Turning it on for the first ...
Advantages: Small, light, robust Disadvantages: An olde model, hard to get hold of
...made me definitely want another Nokia after this model
About the 6230i Features
It has lots of different features including *1.3 mega-pixel camera with 3 x digital zoom, I found this camera brilliant for a phone camera and took many pictures with it, it had a night mode which helped make pictures a better quality in the dark all those these weren't brilliant. Pictures were easy to send via Bluetooth or send across to a computer.
It also has ... ...to use on a small Nokia screen with quite small buttons but ideal for looking up the odd thing whilst out and your phone is the handy thing to use for this
*Tri-band, I have never used this but it would be good if you were going anywhere within Europe
*Push to Talk, never used this but it's a subscribed thing a bit like a walkie talkie I have heard that this doesn't work that well but haven't used this feature myself to find out.
*Visual Radio, ...
Advantages: Overall look and style of the phone, its many features such as bluetooth and video/still camera. Disadvantages: Still camera pictures tend to come out blurred and unclear.
...my personal experience of the Nokia 6230, in a nutshell. The good bits
I have to say, since I bought this phone around 2 weeks ago I haven’t yet stopped playing with its many features. On a scale of 1 to 10 this phone definitely rates 11 for the extra stuff it has. Including:
• Video & Still Camera – perfect for catching your mates at their more embarrassing moments!
• Bluetooth – like infrared but easier to connect & send due to reliability of ... ...again, isn’t it on all Nokia phones? Everything is where you would expect to find it and the preset shortcuts are the common features that most people use. The size is just right so you can still push the keys and fit it in your pocket. Not bad going, eh?
The Nokia 6230 has no problems what-so-ever with usual features like text messaging, calling in/out, loudspeaker etc. The Bad Bits
To be honest, there isn’t much about this phone to write about ...
...going to have the new nokia flip phone but found out it was not as technologically advanced as the 6230, so although its not as aesthetically pleasing it is one mother of a phone.
Sim free this phone will set you back a whopping 349.99GBP so its definitely worth getting a contract and don’t forget to get insurance, I would recommend the carphone warehouse’s lifeline at around 2.00GBP a week depending on the level of cover required.
I love opening a nokia box, as you never know what surprises you will find. Included in the box you get the phone (obviously), battery, sim card, user manual, a 32mb memory card, a software CD, a charger and a strange and impractical handsfree kit which will get you all tangled up in a second, but you do need this to access the radio
I don't actually own this mobile but my boyfriend does. I tend to use it a lot when I run out of my free minutes and texts (he's on a higher tariff than me), I also like to 'play' with it a lot, such as with games, music etc so I think I qualify to... more
OK so I've had enough with the many problems caused by my Nokia 8310 which is getting pretty old really -- so I thought why not buy a new phone to replace it. Having my Nokia 8310 on Tesco Mobile (cheapest network around!!), I thought I should buy a new more
