This is basically one of the coolest mobiles I have owned. Like most of the Nokia branded mobiles, it is simple to use and does not have to many complications like the modern mobiles of today.
I know that I have owned more than eight different mobiles in the last seven years which is quite a low and is not good for the environment. This Nokia 6230i just happened to be in the midst of these mobiles and it is a shame that it left me before I was fully satisfied which is more of a shame really. I actually bought this mobile on the beginning of the year 2006. Quite a shame that I dropped the mobile in juice and it stopped working. That is why I bought my Sony Ericsson K750i.
This mobile is not heavy at all; it only weighs about 95 grams and the looks of it are cool. One of the things I like about this mobile is that you can change the facial cover, memory stick and it has both Bluetooth and Infrared connection.
The keys of the mobile are very soft to the touch and so as to the press. The keys are quite easy to note as they have big black prints on them. The lay out of the keys on this Nokia 6230i makes it easy to navigate through out the whole mobile. Everything is quite simple to use, therefore if you are a first time buyer this might be the mobile for you.
The battery life of this mobile is quite good actually. I once talked to my mate more than four hours before the battery ran out. Therefore the talk time of the mobile is just over four hours which could even be five hours if the battery was fully charged. It also has over 200 hours of stand by time which is very good for those who don't use their mobiles a lot.
----------MEMORY----------
When I bought this mobile it had a 32 MB MMC memory stick with it and already has a 32MB internal memory. 32MB holds about eight MP3 songs. The memory can however be extended by buying a 256MB or 512MB, MMC memory stick from many electrical shops.
----------PRICE & PACKAGING----------
The Nokia 6230i comes in a small pictured box. In the box you will have you mobile, the battery, mobile charger, the manual (also in other languages), Software to run into you PC, USB connection, head set, sim card and your memory card. Last year when I bought this mobile it cost me £120 from Argos. I actually remember that it was on special offer as I bought it at the beginning of the year period were all the sales are fuming in every shop.
----------GAMES----------
This Nokia 6230i comes with three games for you to enjoy. Sadly the Nokia 6230i does not come with Nokia classic snake game which has been there forever. It was not much of a disappointment to me really because they just had to move on from the old generation of games to the new generation, though some other Nokia modern mobiles still have the Snake game. The games included with the mobile are the Backgammon game which I actually learnt how to play with my previous Nokia mobile. The 3D golf game is one of the games which I find boring really; maybe it is mainly because I never accepted golf in my fun sports list. I have played the Golf game and the graphics are quite good really, the game is mainly based on how to maintain the striking power on the golf ball. However, if you are a golf fan you would enjoy the game more than I did. Street Racer is the third game that comes with This Nokia mobile. The game is of two cars racing together and you have to control one of them. It is quite hard to win n the game for the reason that when you play against the computer in never crushes on other cars on every journey which gives it an advantage because whenever I play the game I crush at least two times onto other cars or swerve out of the main road which slows my vehicle down. The game is easy to play as you only have to use the right and left navigation keys.
With the game settings you can however chose to turn on or off the sounds, change the game level (easy, medium, difficult) and to turn on the shakes (vibrate). If you want more games you can download loads of Java games from your network provider WAP r the internet. You might have to pay for most of the games unless stated 'free'
----------MEDIA----------
This mobile has a lovely 1.3 mega Pixel camera. It might not sound a lot but the picture quality is actually quite good. You can either set the picture to High resolution (bigger and sharp image) or low Resolution (small and low pixel image). The camera is fairly easy to access; you can go on the main menu and chose camera or you could use the right navigation key to access the camera from the main page. I used to find this very useful really because it saved me time. When I was fiddling with the mobile I actually realized that you could change to access the camera from the right navigation key to the left, up or down navigation. Therefore you can access the camera which ever key you. With the camera it comes with editing clip arts and picture frames which make your picture look cool or funny. I found it very easy to print my pictures by taking my MMC memory stick to a picture processing shop; I mainly used to go to boots for some reasons.
Using the 1.3 Mega pixel resolution you can also take video with the mobile. You can edit your videos via the mobile if you want or you can use more advanced editing via your computer if you want. Whilst taking the video you of course have two choices, either to take a high quality video which takes up more space or to take a low quality video which uses less memory but has bad quality picture. The video will be recorded in a 3GP format which can be played via windows media player if you transfer the video to your computer.
----------CALLS---------- -You can divert your calls to other numbers or your voicemail if you want. -You can call up to five people at the same time. I always used to call three of me friends at the same time; it's quite a cool feature to be honest. - You can choose to hide your number when calling other mobiles. - It has call timer, (calculates how long the call has lasted) and keeps it in record. -It stores up to 20 last dialled, missed calls and received calls.
----------MESSAGING----------
---With the Nokia 6230i you can send SMS which is the normal text messaging with letter or symbol characters. When writing an SMS you could use the integrated dictionary ---You can send MMS which includes all you media (pictures, voice recording, videos and MP3 songs). This tends to take at least a minute to send to other mobiles as the files tend to be of big size in terms of memory. The mobile automatically resize the image if it is too big to send. ---You can e-mail your friends via the mobile and you can also read you e-mails on the go.
----------CONNECTIVITY----------
With this mobile there are various ways of connecting to other sources such as mobiles, internet or your computer. You can connect to other mobiles when transferring data, pictures, videos or music by using infrared or Bluetooth. Bluetooth could however be the easiest and fastest way of transferring the data. With infrared the two mobiles have to be very close to each other and have to be turned. With Bluetooth you can be ten metres away and still transfer the data quicker. Bluetooth is also easy to transfer to computers though I find it easier to transfer to the computer via the USB connection. The Nokia 6230i comes with the USB connection. If you want to use this to synchronize documents to your computer it is best you use a USB 2.0 port on your computer as it makes the transfers quicker. This mobile has WAP and GPRS therefore you can connect to the internet and browse thousands of mobile beta pages (websites suitable o be viewed on mobile screens). I used to mainly use the internet to talk on msn with my fellow mates or just browse for games and latest news in the world. The mobile also has PoC (Push to talk) which lets you use the mobile as a walkie talkie. I never actually had the chance to use this feature, but I'm sure it's a good one.
----------APPLICATIONS----------
---Converter This mobile has a converter which converts money (selected currencies), weight (pounds, stones, KGs), length (KM, centimetres, Inches) and temperature (degrees, Fahrenheit). I did found this feature useful a couple of times when I had to convert pounds to stones as I do not really know how much a stone is, in pounds. --- The mobile has a dictionary which translates basic words to languages like French, Dutch, Spanish and Italian. It also has an English dictionary.
----------EXTRA FEATURES----------
---FM Radio this mobile comes with an integrated FM radio which is quite cool to listen to if you want to hear the news or if you are bored from listening to your old songs. You could put the radio to loudspeaker or use the headset. You can save some of your radio channels onto the mobile so that you won't have to look for them every time you want to listen to the radio. ---Like any other mobile, this Nokia 6230i also comes with a calendar which lets you set reminders e.g. anniversaries, meetings and things to do during the whole day. The calendar feature of this mobile is actually a bit different from other mobiles I have owned as it lets you view the calendar in weekly format. ---The mobile has a world clock which lets you navigate the earth as globe and when you click on an area it tells you the GMT time of that country comparing to the London time. If you are going to a holiday which is out f the country this could be a useful to use as it tells you how many hours you are going to change your watch. I used the feature when I was going to France and yes it was all good, didn't have to ask a dozen people to find out the French time. ---The mobile has an integrated speaker which means if someone calls, you can put them on loud speaker if you do not have your headset or if you just can't be bothered to hold the mobile. ---With Nokia 6230i of course you can change your display picture, screen savers and ring tones. You can use your mp3 songs as ring tones or you can download them from the internet. With screen savers and main display picture you can both use the pictures and screen savers which come with the mobile or you can use your own personal pictures. ---The mobile has a Tri-Band meaning you can use it in many countries including European, American and some African countries. ----------NOTE ---Run the software provided if you want extra features such as picture and video editing tools to your computer. If your computer was made before the year 2000 you might also have to run the software so that you computer recognise the mobile when it has been connected. If you have lost your manual you can still find it o the software. This mobile is not touch screen like some nowadays mobile ---Do not I repeat 'DO NOT' let the mobile get in contact with any fluids. I dropped mine in juice and now it is no more If you drop it in juice and you do not have insurance on the mobile it will probably cost you more to fix it than buying a new one. That is exactly what happened to me so I bought my K750i. Do not forget that water damages are not included in the manufacture's warranty. ---The automatic answer only works if you have your headphones plugged into your mobile. ---The speed dial only keeps nine contacts. ---Like modern mobile this mobile is not a touch screen I'm afraid, so if you are looking for touch screen mobiles this isn't the one for you. It does have the five way navigation key though. ---The mobile has 65k colours. ---With the voice recorder you can only record up to an hour. ---If you can't read English you can change the phone language to other languages e.g. French, German, Spanish, Netherlands, turkey, Russia etc. ---You can change the mobile phone cover to fancy designs. ---If you have owned a Nokia 6230 then this mobile will be very familiar as they are quite the same really. ---The mobile comes in different networks e.g. orange, virgin, T-mobile, O2, 3, Vodafone etc.
Yes i would recommend this mobile to anyone who is looking for a simple mobile with all the modern technology.
Advantages: Small, light, robust Disadvantages: An olde model, hard to get hold of
...made me definitely want another Nokia after this model
==About the 6230i Features==
It has lots of different features including *1.3 mega-pixel camera with 3 x digital zoom, I found this camera brilliant for a phone camera and took many pictures with it, it had a night mode which helped make pictures a better quality in the dark all those these weren't brilliant. Pictures were easy to send via Bluetooth or send across to a computer.
It also has ... ...to use on a small Nokia screen with quite small buttons but ideal for looking up the odd thing whilst out and your phone is the handy thing to use for this
*Tri-band, I have never used this but it would be good if you were going anywhere within Europe
*Push to Talk, never used this but it's a subscribed thing a bit like a walkie talkie I have heard that this doesn't work that well but haven't used this feature myself to find out.
*Visual Radio, ...

Advantages: Monoblock (not a flip phone), easy to use, compact Disadvantages: Echo-y sound, disappointing battery life
I've only ever owned Nokia mobile phones, three different models - 3210e, 8210i and the 6610i. I've found them to be robust, easy to use and typically, just the right size to be able to carry about. I've only ever had one problem with one of the phones, too. Just before Christmas 2005, my Nokia 6610i died. I had a major disagreement with my network operator, Orange because the phone was only four days over the usual 12-month guarantee period and ... ...with O2. I chose the Nokia 6230i as the free phone with the contract, although there were others available (Sony 750i, Motorola RAZR etc.)
The 6230i is a similar size and shape to the other Nokia 6000 series of phones. I like these as I think they strike the balance between being small enough to be easily portable (dropped into a jeans pocket) and large enough that usability isn't compromised. The phone comes with a hefty manual, a CD of software ...

Advantages: Multi-media wonderland Disadvantages: It's a bit ugly, but aren't we all?!
...on my latest contraption the Nokia 6230i.
The greatest compliment that I can offer this phone is that if any inanimate object on earth could give me brain cancer via pulses of radiation it would be this. I am a bit of a technophile but yet I know nothing of the logistics or how these things develop so quickly. This is less a phone than a portable multi media contraption with an added bonus of being able to communicate with various people despite ... ...well as optimism. The Nokia 6320i comes with a rather meagre 32mb memory card, which is enough to support a couple of songs in mp3 format as well as a good number of photographs and other such niceties. However since it's inception on the world market cunning science types have been slowly introducing a number of different sized chips. In my haste I bought a 512mb chip, but of course now with the weight of microtechnological progression chips of ...

...a very big fan of Nokia phones, and since ownership have one have not been tempted to steer away to another mobile manufacturer ... mobile provider .. yes ... mobile manufacturer ... most definitely not !
I have found other manufactuers phones to be difficult to naviagte around and much less user friendly than Nokia, and for those simple reasons, along with the fact I am quite simply well versed with the set up of Nokia's now, I wouldn't intend ... ...apologies in that instance.
Nokia quite simlpy make using a mobile TELEPHONE, well ... simple ... straightforward .. . easy ... and ... just like using a TELEPHONE i.e. you can quickly make calls or send texts without having to read through a 57 page booklet, which you won't understand because it's either in Japanese, Swedish, or nano-talk and the translation to English is broken English at best...... Advantages: grips the phone firmly on the dash Disadvantages: Instruction manual can be slightly confusing but just requires some common sense
i purchased this product after seeing it here on ciao.co.uk. I perchased it because i only had a cheapo holder for my nokia6230i in my car and it was very annoying when the phone kept poping out of the holder and rolling around the floor of the car, come on it's happened to all of us. How annoying is it?!
After i received this, it was all self explanitory pretty much, only needing to glance at the instructions to see how the thing clipped onto the car air vents but after that, it was all plain sailing. I can not securely clip my phone to the adjustable holder and it fits in there nice and snug, and it's SOLID! Even when driving down bumpy country lanes, this neat little holder keeps my phone there on the dash solid as a rock, not even the slightest movement!
I am extremely happy with this and i would deffinately recommend it to ...
Advantages: Bluetooth Connection, Easy Installation, Excellent Call Quality Disadvantages: Lots of wiring to hide and might not fit in with your car interior!
This is the newer version of the Nokia CARK-112 wireless handsfree kit. The main improvements are the call quality and adaptability towards being utilised for more of the newer Nokia mobile phone range.
Since getting this kit I have made many calls both recieving and dialing. Both seem very good and with my phone the Nokia6230I have found that the call quality is excellent, the speaker is loud and the microphone picks up very well with the caller never complaining of road noise both town driving at on the motorway.
Voice activated dialing helps to call out as I do not mount my phone in a holder, prefering to keep it in my pocket. Connection is automatic (bluetooth paired devices) as I get into the vehicle which is excellent if the phone rings you will hear it through the speaker.
I believe that you can attach an external ...
Advantages: Easy to use, good size buttons, colour screen Disadvantages: Picture quality of camera
This is quite simply the best phone I have owned. Prior to this phone I have owned a Samsung E700 (was glad to see the back of it), a Nokia 7210 (I loved that phone and it was prettier than this one but no integrated camera) a Nokia 3310 (I like Nokias!) and a very old Phillips C55 which was excellent in its day.
I got my phone on contract from Orange online last December. 500 texts, 200 anytime minutes for £30 a month. Not bad really.
This phone is so easy to use because the keys are a resonable size (suitable for men) and the screen is a good size and colour. You can choose how to see the menu (either as a grid so you can see all the functions at once or individually).
The navigator button is very easy to use and feels more secure than those on Sony Ecricsson phones. It can take you either to the calendar, camera ...
