...had my eye on the Nokia 6300 for a while and a couple of weeks ago managed to get one free from Orange as part of a contract renewal.
The phone is visually very appealing. Its a a realivelty small phone (10.5cm x 4.5cm x 1.5cm) but is heavier than its looks suggest at 91 grams. About half of the front of the phone is occupied by the screen which is very bright and clear, the screen itself and the 4 way (joy stick type) button the 4 seperate menu ... ...classy looking black plastic as is the top 3rd of the back of the phone in which is the 2MP camera. The rest of the enclosure is actual metal which not only looks good but gives the phone a quality feel.
Before looking at the features of the phone it is worth briefly covering the user interface, which to me is one of Nokias assets as it is intuitive, user friendly and consistent across the range of phones. The menus are accessed via the 4 way joypad ...

...if you have had a Nokia before they do not differ a lot making it even easier. There is lots of information in the instruction book/user manual about how to use all the features your phone has so you can get the best out of your phone.
It's easy to make phone calls and has lots of really useful shortcut buttons to get to what feature you want even faster.
Looks & Style
Unlike the normal Nokia 6300 this version has a white front and bit on ... ...will definitely be having another Nokia as I feel this is the brand I am comfortable with and always have some of the best mobile phones on the market. I got my new Nokia 6300 just over a month ago so I feel its enough time of using it to write a review.
I had been due an upgrade of my phone but hadn't really seen anything I fancied until I saw someone who had this phone and I really like the design of it. I've had Nokia's for years (my last one was the 6230i) and so am able to find my way around them. I rang Vodafone and they said I could have it free on upgrade and so I jumped at it.
**The design ... ...you had never used a Nokia before you would find it easy to do the basics as everything is clearly labelled in the main menu - ie. Contacts, gallery, messaging etc.
When I first got the phone it was set up with a toolbar type navigation/menu across the top of the screen. Some people may find this useful for quick access to functions they use often, but as you have only to press the top left button to get a quick menu ("got to") up, or, for example, ...

...admit I am a dedicated Nokia fan. But that doesn't cloud my judgement - at Christmas I tried the Nokia N73, but found this a bit too big and bulky and found some of the keys a bit uncomfortable to use. My previous models have been the 6230 & 6230i. I tried out a Samsung E900 last month, but couldn't adapt to that and vowed to stick to my faithful Nokia's...

The Nokia 6300 looks fantastic. Most of the casing is stainless steel and there is a good sized screen, which is nice and bright. The buttons are easy to use, but I guess they could be a bit small if you have big fingers! I send a lot of texts and have had no problems with them. It feels durable and strong, and being stainless steel, hopefully will be ok if dropped! I'm going to get a screen protector for mine as the screen is quite ...

...This is my favourite Nokia phone for a long time. It really is beautiful - quality just oozes out of the phone when you pick it up. The metallic finish completes the look, although this may show scratches if not treated carefully.
The cost of this phone is now ranging fron £50 -£110
