Rated by Nokia - Up to 17 Days Standby - that's 408 hours!
- Up 7 ½ hours Talk time
Personally I had about 10 days standby time with this phone, although this is while using the phone daily for occasional phone calls and text messages. So I can entirely believe Nokia's estimation of 17 Days. As for talk time I don't think I have ever been on the phone for 7 hours straight! So I can't comment.
Hi, thanks for reading my review about this phone. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful. If you did please rate and it leave comments etc. as i like reading them!
Out of the Box *************** This phone comes professionally boxed in a rectangle cardboard box with a picture of the phone on the outside and some other graphics. Inside the box is fairly standard with all Nokia phones; there is the phone itself (with the battery), a wired hands free kit (basically a headphone and a wire), a standard Nokia mains charger and a comprehensive instruction manual.
Nokia recommend that this phone be charged for 14 hours prior to use to maximise long term battery life of the phone, and this I feel is worth doing. The included instruction manual is useful however does not need to be read from front to back cover as most aspects of the phone are self explanatory. However if you want to while the phone is having its initial charge this is a good time to do it!
A quick guide to getting the phone turned on and working for the first time; - Remove the battery from the phone - Place the supplied or other sim-card into the available slot under the battery - Replace the battery on to the phone - Charge for 14 hours - Press the little red button on the top of the phone and watch it turn on
Using it for The First Time ***************************** When the phone first turn on it will ask you to fill in the time and date, this is worth doing correctly as it is displayed on the main screen of the phone and is used if you set alarms or reminders etc. to fill it in jus press the correct numbers as it flashes on the screen. For example it will flash HH:MM, if the time is 8.39pm, you will type 2039 on the keypad.
Once this information has been input you will see the phones main screen, on the left will be a bar showing the current signal strength (out of 7) and on the right a similar bar showing battery life (also out of 7). At the top of the screen it shows the current time and the middle of the screen shows the network you are connected to (Vodafone, O2) and finally at the bottom of the screen it shows the two available options that the phone can do (on the main screen it will be menu and contacts).
Other buttons on the phone include; - Up/Down buttons, these are pretty simple and are used for navigating through menu's on the phone itself - Red/Green buttons, these are primarily used for making and receiving phone calls, red to put down the phone and green to pick up or make a call when a contact is selected. In addition to this the red button can be used to make the phone go back to the main screen at anytime when using the phone.
The two 'hot keys' on the phone are buttons that have a different function depending on which part of the phone you are using. This may sound complicated although on the screen directly above each button it tells you what pressing this button will do at any time!
One other note is that to lock the phones keypad you have to press the menu key, followed quickly by the star key. This stops buttons being pressed accidentally on the keypad if it is in your pocket or bag. To unlock the phone simply press menu and star again.
Features ********** All of the features of this phone are accessible from the menu of the phone, by entering the menu and either pressing the up or down keys on the phone to scroll through all of the available options.
*Contacts* - There is room in this phone for up to 500 contacts which is more than enough for the majority of people and there is the option to add multiple bits of information for each person e.g. email address, home phone, mobile phone. Once a contact is selected jus press the green button to ring them.
*Messaging* - The phone can store about 150 text messages combined between sent and received messages which is similar to most mobile phones. But it does depend on how much information is in each message. The phone also has the ability to send small black and white pictures that are included on the phone. Predictive text ability is included in this phone.
The phone can also apparently send e-mail messages although I've never gotten this feature to work.
*Bluetooth* - This phone has Bluetooth but to a limited functionality, it is as far as I am aware one of the first phones with Bluetooth capabilities. It cannot send files over Bluetooth (e.g. pictures or sounds) although works effectively at connecting to Bluetooth headsets which is very useful for driving.
*Games* - The phone comes bundled with 3 different games; these are Snake II, Space Impact, Bumper. Snake II is a game where you control a snake and you have to eat the food without bumping into walls or your tail. And space impact is a side scrolling shooter game where you have to shoot or dodge enemies that fly towards you.
Although these games are enjoyable for the odd 5 minutes while you are stuck at a bus stop, they are not the best ever and I would not purchase this phone because of them!
*Customisable Profiles* - The phone has the ability to select between 5 different sound profiles (from loud to vibrate only to silent) which are easily changeable by pressing the on/off button once quickly. The vibrate function is also good for quiet places.
*Other Functions* - The phone also includes many small but useful features that you may well find beneficial. GPRS, which offers basic internet features such as finding out the latest news and sport results. A wallet, for keeping secure information. Clock, Alarm Clock, Calculator, Currency Converter, Stopwatch, countdown timer, Voice Recorder, computer synchronisation and infrared are also included with the phone.
Technical Stuff ***************** Weight: 111g Size: 129 x 47 x 17-21 mm
*MEMORY* - Calendar notes (up to 250 entries) - To-do list (up to 30 entries) - WAP cache (up to 20 entries) - WAP bookmarks (up to 25 entries) - WAP security cache and certificates (up to 20 entries) - Java™ applications (space for up to 178 KB of Java applications) - Wallet notes (up to 30 entries)
- Phonebook (up to 500 entries, depending on number of characters per entry) - SMS (up to 150 text messages or 50 picture messages) - Voice recording (2 minutes) - Voice name tags (10 places) - Voice commands (5 predefined) - Ringing tones (35 preset, five variable)
TRI-BAND OPERATION - EGSM 900, GSM 1800, and GSM 1900 networks in Europe, Africa, Asia, North, and South America; automatic switching between bands
*BATTERY LIFE*
Rated by Nokia - Up to 17 Days Standby - that's 408 hours!
This battery life is much better than all new modern, colour phones that seem to last between 1 and 3 days of standby time.
Final Thoughts **************** In addition to this I would like to add this phone is almost indestructible. As with all old Nokia mobile phones they were built to resist and although may pick up the odd scratch here and there they do not suddenly break like a lot of new phones. Mine is about 4 years old and still works brilliantly with similar battery life to when I first purchased it.
These phones can be picked up very cheaply now for around £50 and probably cheaper second hand by searching places such as eBay.
If you travel, drive and spend a lot of time away from home and you want a no frills phone that just does the job then this phone is definitely for you! It is a lightweight, professional looking phone with all the vital features with the addition of Bluetooth.
It does however lack some of the features that people now expect from a mobile phone, one major feature that I feel it lacks is a loud speaker for making phone calls without having to hold the phone to your ear.
In addition to this many new features are not in this phone such as a camera, video recorder or music player. But on the other hand this is not who this phone is aimed it, as that is the case I have awarded this product 5 stars because what it is designed for, it does brilliantly and I cannot fault it! This is very hard to say about many new products that are coming to the market.
Summary *********** Here I will make a short list of the main advantages and disadvantages of the phone to give you a clear summary of what to expect from this phone in what I feel is priority order.
*Advantages* - Outstanding Battery Life - Bluetooth - Very Durable - Tri-Band - Easy to Use - Nokia
*Disadvantages* - Lack of a Loudspeaker - Black and White Screen - Being picky, it's not the lightest phone, although most of it is taken up by the huge battery.

...the fifth review of a Nokia handset that I’ve written for this site. Despite the fact that everyone probably thinks I change my phone like most people change their underwear, I’m not that fickle, and I must confess to being party to some good deals and discounts that mean changing handset doesn’t need to be restricted to an annual event. Following my adventures with the 5510, I decided that the 6210 was probably the best handset ... ...to own yet another little Nokia companion. I don’t really want to write this review as a comparison to the 6210, because although there are many parallels, if you haven’t owned a 6210 previously, it won’t mean a lot to you.
LOOKS AND FEEL
The 6310 is without a doubt one of the most attractive handsets currently offered by Nokia. Sleek, slender, and stylish are just three of the words that I would use to describe it. The handset ...

Having had my Nokia 6310i for 3 months now, and having resisted the temptation to share my latest mobile phone with a review up until now I have finally succumbed, having been chastised for my op on the 3410 that I bought at the same time for a friend to use, and of course for consumer purposes thought I ought to play test. Having parted with EUR 99 and 4500 One For Me points (the rewards scheme from One, the mobile operator that I use in Austria), I got the 6310i, ...

Nokia's replacement for the 6210, imaginatively called the 6310 has been out for a few weeks now (and I can't believe this is the first review!)
Before I start, my phone is on Orange & has replaced my old 6210 a week ago.
So, a week on, how am I getting on with my new mobile. Pretty fan-dabby-dozy really. I'll start with the looks.
The phone comes in 3 colour schemes, the Silver/Chrome, black and the horrible bronze(yuck). I've yet to see the ... ...The phone is almost exactly the same size as the 6210 and uses the same accessories as it, useful if you already have a 6210 car kit etc. As expected, it has the usual buttons and the 2 "option select" buttons & green (answer) red (hang up). There's also the up/down select button, however it's been chopped in 2 (why?) and is no so user friendly, tut tut Mr Nokia.
The phone comes with an attractive blue background light to it, which looks v.cool. ...

...it in preference to the Nokia 3310 which came as standard with my mobile phone tariff.
The main advantage of this phone is its ability to store a large number of text messages - I've had up to 100 messages in both the inbox and outbox at the same time. I have heard the design of this phone being criticised for being too large and outdated. As I carry my phone in a handbag though, I found the increased bulk made it easier to find. It should be noted ... ...long battery life of the phone is also an advantage, on a normal day I would send a couple of text messages and make/receive one or two short calls, as a result I need to recharge the phone once a week.

The main disadvantage I have found with this handset if that the ...

A business user phone! This is an excellent phone, as it provides sheer class, with looks, and also, he features on this phone are excellent. It allows the user to carry a phone, that provides features such as calendar, Bluetooth, infrared, which are required. Data communication between laptops and the nokia6310i are excellent. I have had this phone for a long time now, and even though it is old now, it still is good. Compared to other phones, this phone is really good. Information loads up quickly, unlike other phones which take around 1-2minutes to start up.
This phone is excellent price wise too, as you can purchase an almost new model for around £40, which is really good. A lot of car kits also support this phone, and as it is an easy phone to use, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quality phone, that is easy to ...

Advantages: It looks attractive and has bluetooth Disadvantages: A bit on the expensive side
The Nokia6310i looks as if it would be a business phone, used by high class office managers and barristers. Yes, this phone is quite expensive, however it does carry out all the basic functions with that little bit extra. For example it can show up to six lines of text on the screen and contains 35 differnt ringtones with 5 spaces for more. It can also take java aplications and very importantly nowadays Bluetooth.
I feel this phone looks physicly atractive but the price can put people off, and this is why I have given it only 3 stars. Nokia clearly see this phone as a business phone and have priced it acordingly.
I would reomend this to a 25+ year old who is looking for a good quality phone with good extra features. I would not recomend it to someone in their teens or early twntys as I would feel that it completley isn't up ...

This is a great ?business man? phone with Bluetooth ,WAP/GPRS,infrared, Which make it a phone that is worth the retail price but the size of it lets it down a bit because it a whopping 129mm long and quite ?fat? around the speaker. Still with monophonic ring tones rather than polyphonic like the Sony CMD-J5 released two years before but that didn?t Bluetooth infrared ect.so the nokia for me has been a reliable and durable phone for me as it can keep charge for a long time and it quick and simple to use. It was handed down to me after my dad and brother had both used it and had been happy with it. It has good Bluetooth signal and picks up network signal when newer phones don?t (nokia 3410).while using it as a phone e.g. talking to someone you can control the speaker volume with a small button on the side which naturally your fingers are ...
