Well a few months ago my phone contract came up for renewal. I have been a customer of O2 for a long time and so I know that I can always get myself a good deal on a contract. I also wanted a new phone as part of the deal as my old phone was looking a bit old and scratched etc. I rang up O2 and managed to get myself a great deal as usual and they asked what new phone I would like. I had seen the Nokia 6500 Classic on a few websites and quite liked the look of it so asked for it. They were able to give me the phone I wanted which was great and I haven't been disappointed.
When I look for a phone I want something that is simple to use and attractive at the same time. I have had slide phones and flip phones before and although they are quite attractive and small as well I found that I actually preferred just a straightforward phone with everything on the front with easy access for you to use. Therefore I really like the style of this phone. The screen is on the front so if you are getting calls etc you can immediately see who is calling. The screen size is a reasonable size, which is big enough to view pictures etc on but not too big. The buttons are simple and also a reasonable size. There are the number buttons and also some control buttons at the top and a central button that is used quite a lot to select items in the menu. My favourite thing about my particular phone, which has nothing to do with how it works, is the fact that it is pink. I am a girly girl and like having pink accessories. I think it just brightens up an otherwise quite average looking item. This phone is available in black as well.
I found it a little difficult to start with taking the battery out and inserting the sim card as it is quite fiddly but I eventually managed to do it and I am fine with it now. There is also space in the back for a memory card, I ahven't used this though.
The phone itself is fairly easy to use, which is one the reasons that I like Nokia so much. They do have their more complex phones but they also do basic phones for people who just want a simple gadget. Once you have got the hang of moving around it is quite easy to use. I find that different phones can have the same button that does something different so it can take you a while to get used to it. As I said earlier the phone has a largish screen that you can amend to have a different background. This can either be one of theirs or a picture you have taken yourself.
As with most phones it has a menu which I think is quite straightforward and easy to use. There are nine sections to choose from including contacts, messaging, settings and organiser. On some phones it can get confusing which part had what in it, but on this phone I think it is quite logical. The only bit I can get confused about is the gallery and media part. For some reason I always seem to go into gallery when I want to take a picture when in fact it is in the media part. This is probably me just getting confused though!
The phone has got a camera and video options. I haven't really used the video option but I find that the camera is quite good. It isn't the best camera phone in the world but it does take good clear pictures and it easy to send them or save them once you have taken them. It has a flash as well, which is obviously great for taking pictures in the dark! The gallery is also good to flick through your photos and have a look at them all.
The phone also has a music player but I haven't used this mainly because I have an i-pod and listen to my music on this. There is the option though and I guess this is where a memory card would come in useful.
It is possible to access the internet but again this isn't something that I have used. I think if you were looking to do this a lot you would probably be better off choosing a different phone but at least the option is there if you want it.
I find that the phone manages to stay charged for quite a while which is always good. It usually lasts me a couple of days unless I use it a lot. It is always good having a Nokia as well as when you have left your charger at home , someone usually has a Nokia charger as they are such popular phones.
You can get this phone on most networks, either as pay as you go which will cost you around £100. You can also get it on contract, where you will probably get it free with your line rental.
Overall it is a simple to use phone that has some good features
Advantages: Nice looking and light weight.. Disadvantages: Poor battery life and technical problems
...good and as its a Nokia is incredibly easy to use - the layout is quite similar to many of their newer models. You cant fault the look of the phone at all allthough i should imagine the plastic could be quite easy to scratch if you werent careful with it. It doesnt have any unnecessary buttons along its side like some phones so you dont find yourself doing anything you shouldnt be! It comes with the usual nokia classic snake game and also suduko ... ...internet though it is not included in the contract and so I am yet to see how it works.
The Cons: Although this phone looks amazing it does have some hefty downsides; The battery life is awful even though a lot of the time i dont even use the features such as the camera which you would presume would make it run out. The speaker seems to be a bit tempremental which is a problem I have heard it quite common with this handset - sometimes it can be ...

Advantages: Stylish, good standby time, sleek menu, Disadvantages: Quite delicate, not as up-to-date with features, average camera, little memory.
...well as fashionable. The standard nokia menu is updated with a screen background that allows you to make notes to yourself visible in the background, the option of a calendar, music player displaying what you're listening to as well as a quick menu bar with shortcuts customisable to the internet, messages or whatever you wish.
With only one port for usb-pc cable, phone to charger or hands free kit there are both pros and cons. The main one being ... ...Usability-wise: This phone uses standard nokia menus and buttons, only the severely technophobic will not be able to use this. Even text messaging using multimedia and attatchments is made easy, with the options of adding photos or media places under the text box whilst writing a message. The LCD screen is good, but not amazing. As is the camera. Those of you looking for a higher quality camera but the same looks/features would be more suited to ...

Advantages: functions, appearance Disadvantages: screen, battery and charging problems
This is the fifth Nokia phone I have purchased and I have to say it is the worse. In the last few years I feel the quality of Nokia Mobile Phones has decreased and I have experienced many problems with my last two phones.
I bought this phone because I thought it would be easy to use and it is. The design and functutions of the phone are good and it easy to make call and sent texts as well as more complicated operations such as take photos and access ... ...charged at least £50 each time.
This is a good phone for functions and appearance but due to the problems I have had with it, and I have friends with the same phone and similar problems, I would not recommend it and I wont be buying another Nokia phone. ...

Advantages: light weight and easy to use Disadvantages: Too small, poor quality, varied reception
...got on really well with Nokia phones before and so was estatic to be given this as for simplicity Nokia's are always easy to use. As always with all my other Nokia's it is simple and easy to do great coloured screen and lots to do, however, the camera is of very poor quality although I am aware it is of only 2 megapixels any photo I have taken is awful.
I thought that having a slim phone would be excellent as it would fit well into my pocket and ... ...it consistently falls out of my pockets and has many scrapes and scratches all over it now but it is light-weight.
Reception quality is varied even in my room at home that usually has high reception I can go from full bars to none by taking two steps.
The battery life is reasonable lasting probably a maximum of 6 days although that is if you don't use your phone that much.
I believe you can buy this phone on pay-as-you go and contract and am not ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Nokia 6500 classic"
After using my Nokia 6300 for around a year I decided to upgrade. I had the choice of a number of phones however opted to go for the Nokia6500 Slide. I can see where some confusion can come from when it comes to the Nokia6500:
The Nokia6500Classic and Nokia6500 Slide are two quite different phones. The classic came first and has a more traditional mobile phone layout and boasts a medicore 2.0MP camera. The slide on the other hand is the upgrade to the Classic and boasts an ultra sleek slide design with a pretty good 3.2MP camera with flash. It also comes with a front facing camera however unfortunately it can only be used while making 3G video calls and not just to take pictures.
Although the phone looks very sleek and well built. I have had the phone for around a month and when I press the buttons it sometimes does not ...

The Nokia6500 slide is a slider phone released in early 2008. It was announced in 2007 as part of the Nokia6500Series - which also includes the Nokia6500classic which has slightly less features. The 6500 series with its stainless steel design proved to be a success, and led to the 6600 series (consisting of the 6600 classic and the 6600 slide) and the as yet unreleased 6600i series.
