Hi, I am the Mekon, I am a young technology enthusiast and archer, my reviews will mainly be on technology as it is a passion of mine but I will basically write a review of anything that has made an impression on me, good or bad.
The battery life is excellent, I actually don't need to carry my laptop everywhere anymore, this little device is great for instant messaging, watching youtube or just browsing the internet, I can spend an evening using the wifi to do the above and all while listening to music, a truly usable phone. On a related note, those of you who like instant messaging I recommend installing "Fring" on this phone, it allows you to use MSN, Yahoo, Skype, AIM, GoogleTalk and more all at the same time, and with MSN and Skype you can make calls and transfer files, something not seen on many programs for mobiles.
Screen - The screen has excellent sharpness and colour rendition and this is the first phone I have had in a LONG time that is truly usable outdoors without being unpleasant.
Wifi - very easy to use and very strong signal, easily as good at picking up signal as the Atheros card in my laptop.
Media - for watching youtube and general videos realplayer comes preinstalled and is adequate however it on the limit of the phone capabilities and in some videos you do get a bit of artefacting where the phone hasn't been able to keep up. But do bear in mind this is a business phone not an entertainment handset.
Processing power - aside from the odd video stuttering I havent experienced any problems, everything opens quickly and runs smoothly, more than once I have looked at the running programs and found a suprising amount of them still open in the background yet not noticed any performance defecit, multitasking is definitely one of the strengths of this phone.
Battery - quite a few times I have spent the evening chatting on MSN over the wifi and the battery lasts quite well, you can get an easy 6 hours of MSN and youtube over wifi and still have plenty of battery left.
Phone - a sometimes forgotten about feature in this day of multipurpose gadgetry! The audio is crystal clear both ways, and the signal is excellent, at my friends woods where both my samsung and Ipaq had no signal this phone gets between half and full signal a genuinely great bit of kit.
Camera - 2 megapixels, fixed focus, its no leica or nikon but for the odd snap here and there for wallpapers its more than adequate, the lack of flash or light is a shame tho and the video is not brilliant, but what do you expect from a business phone?
Case - stainless steel, ive landed on it a few times when riding me bike, seems to stand up to knocks very well, even had a motorbike land on me and i was on the phone, still works which speaks volumes for the build quality.
Little mentioned fact, I haven't seen advertised is that this handset is warrantied for 24 months, unlike the usual 12, obviously nokia are confident it will last well.
*update* 2 days ago the phone slid out of my shirt pocket and into a bowl of water!!!! the phone was fully submerged for a few seconds, I grabbed the phone, turned it off, pulled the battery and sim out, left the back cover off and left it all in a warm room to dry off, put it back together and IT LIVES!!!! This phone has been crushed several times whilst in my pocket doing motorcross, dropped more times than i care to remember on concrete AND now dropped in a bowl of water!
