Great phone. I got it 2nd-hand on ebay and it is my best phone to date.
PROs: ------------------------------------------ I write lots of SMSs and emails, so the qwert keyboard is extremely useful for me. Screen and resolution are great.
I use it as a personal phone, with Blackberry connect set on my personal email, and it works just fine.
I easily sync all my contacts and calendar to the PC
Battery life is great: it lasts from 2-3 days (very intense usage) to 7 (moderate usage).
Size is great: it is wide (of course it is, with that excellent screen and werty keyboard) but very thin. I find it more convenient and comfortable to carry in my pocket a phone that's wide but thin rather than one that's less wide but thicker. Especially if you're wearing a suit or smart trousers, on which a bulky phone looks so awful.
Camera: the lack of camera is actually an advantage for me, as it reduces size and weight. I wouldn't use it anyway.
Add-on software: lots of 3rd party software available (rarely free, though).
Connectivity: smoothly works either if you set it up as a Blackberry or if you just connect to your provider when you specifically request it.
Multimedia: I added a miniSD card on which I saved a bunch of MP3s. The smartphone also happens to be a great music player, and battery life is very good even when using it as a player.
CONs: ------------------------------------------- Speed could be improved. Sometimes you have to wait quite a few seconds before a command is executed or a screen is shown.
When alarms go off (for meetings or to-do notes), it would be nice to set up a snooze time (e.g. remind me again in 5, 10 or 30 mins etc). Currently, you can only snooze at a predefined interval of 5 mins, and just for calendar meetings, not for to-do-notes
Emails: HTML email is not supported. HTML source code is usually displayed, making it quite hard to read such emails
Copying and pasting: it'd be great if I could copy and paste text from an email/sms elsewhere. Currently, this is not supported, or at least I didn't manage to find an explanation on how to do it.
Software: unlike other Nokias, it has no count down timer, no stopwatch, and no "wallet" (an utility to encrypt sensitive data like passwords)>
Comparisons: ------------------------------------------ Fo r work I have a Palm Treo 750v, and it is so much worse than the Nokia 9see my full review). Just to name one, standby time (just standy, no usage) is less than 24 hours, as opposed to Nokia's whole week! I'd be very curious about comparing it to a Blackberry, which I never got my hands on.
Not perfect, but an excellent phone. Certainly the best smartphone I ever tried. Given my experience with both Nokias and Windows Mobile, I think I will never leave Nokia for a Windows-based smartphone.
It does most of the things an Ipod does, but for a fraction of the cost and with the benefit of a QWERTY keyboard - huge advantage, at least for me
