~ About ~ The Nokia HDB-5 Boom Headset is very trendy looking and rather useful. Simply plug it into your Nokia phone and you're away! A single wire goes from a phones hands-free/headphone socket up to the earpiece. Shaped to fit round the ear and stay in place, this hands-free solution is great for a busy business people who don't have the time to waste faffing around with their phone or the wire.
~ Features ~ - One button which controls;
> Answering a call > Ending a call > Voice dialling > Flicking through preset radio stations (if the phone has a radio)
~ Description ~ The headset it's self is mostly hard plastic but there is a certain part of it that is rubber. The 'boom' part that goes closer to the mouth is hard plastic and the earpiece in incorporated into the plastic design.
It is not exclusively for one ear since the actual earpiece is double sided therefore you can switch between ears with no alterations to make to the actual headset.
Whilst it doesn't go fully out to the mouth is does go most of the way and will generally pick up your speech.
The wire isn't as long as other wired hands-free kits like the Nokia Dual Headset HDD-1, which has a longer wire.
The actual microphone sits on the very end of the boom therefore is exposed to any wind which hits it -- so don't use this when it's windy.
The earpiece sits slightly into your ear and allows you to hear the other person but would also allow anyone else sitting next to you to hear it to (depending on which side you wear the earpiece). If you wear it on the left hand side then anyone sitting on that side will hear and vice versa for the right hand side.
~ Cost ~ Costs can really vary depending on where you go. Some places sell this cheap whilst others are more expensive. Ciao has picked up a price of under £10 which I suggest going for since it's the best price I've seen.
~ Notes ~ On the headset there is a rubber bit that's connected to the hard plastic bit and the rubber bit on my headset has actually kind of broken and makes the headset somewhat unusable. For this reason, I wouldn't suggest not buying this but I would suggest taking great care of it.
This product really is perfect for the busy / high flying city people or even if you're sitting in an office and want a really cool looking hands-free kit for a phone call.
Advantages: Stylish and Trendy with a generously long wire Disadvantages: Are there any?
I also brought this headset for use with my Nokia 8310 mobile phone (as well as NokiaHDB-5 Boom Headset).
~ About ~
The Nokia HDD-1 Dual Headset / Stereo Headphones is a very trendy looking and rather useful hands-free accessory. Simply plug it into your Nokia phone and you're away! A single wire goes from a phones hands-free/headphone socket up to the white 'triangle' (as shown in the image) then two separate wires run from the same white triangle to the actual earpieces.
Not only useful for listening to the FM radio (if your phone has it) in stereo sound this can also be used during a call but allows for both earpieces to be used, therefore providing a higher sound level .. it's as if they were standing right in front of you.
The actual white triangle has a rubber(ish) inside area and allows you to store the earpieces in ...
Advantages: Small, Lightweight, Ease of use Disadvantages: Seems to break too quickly
I got this phone back in 2003 so I've had it for long enough to review.
Well then .... where to start?
~Features~
FM Radio, WAP / GPRS, Games, Infrared, Calculator, Calendar.
The FM radio on this is easily workable. It allows for 20 presets which is generous. The only real drawback is that the aerial is the wire from the phone to the earpiece ... which normally means you have to have the wire hanging around outside your clothes -- I've broken a headset because of this when a wire got caught and totally broken.
Saying this, the normal radio headset (Nokia Dual Headset HDD-1) is great since it not only allows for full radio listening in both ears but you can use it for calls therefore utilising both earpieces which makes for a better conversation. If you want simplicity or style then use the Nokia Boom HeadsetHDB-5 ...
