INTRODUCTION

I am a total mobile maniac. I love to keep switching mobile phones, to explore each of them, compare and arrive at a conclusion so that I can help people to choose the right phone they are looking for.

I had an android phone of a famous brand previously. I suddenly felt it was time to switch to a new(better) phone and begin my exploration. As I was browsing for tha latest introductions in the market, I came across the New The Nokia Lumia 800. The moment I saw its picture, I got the feel that it was for me. So I exchanged my previous phone and bought Nokia Lumia 800 in the next one week. Trust me, no regrets til now!

ABOUT THE PHONE

The Nokia Lumia 800 is incredibly well designed, offers a powerful feature set , sports some great custom applications, and brings a premium feel to Windows Phone. With Nokia's strong track record in wireless and carrier history and Nokia could make a comeback in the US market.

I've been using the Lumia 800 for a couple of months now, and for the most part, I'm really impressed. Much like HTC and Android, I feel as if Nokia and Microsoft can work together to take a platform that's still very much in its infancy to the next level.

MY OPINION

It is known that Windows Phones aren't as wide ranged as Android smart phones interfaces, but Nokia has a variety of additional apps and a great design. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz single-core CPU and zips around pretty easily. Though this windows phone is not as system heavy as many other operating systems, it handles everything, from casual web browsing to highly graphic-intensive apps like Nokia Maps with ease.

I personally feel that Lumia 800 is a stunningly stylish phone. It seems similar to the N9 in design but still it exudes a high-end feel, from the polycarbonate body to the curved display to the soft, rounded sides.

The microSIM card slot and microUSB charging port are located on the top of the phone and hidden behind plastic flaps, and the buttons are all located on the right side. It may be too small for some, but Lumia's 3.7-inch AMOLED display features Nokia's ClearBlack display technology, and looks great as well.

I felt that the Picture quality is awesome. But for the absence of the front-facing camera, I thought the it was fantastic.

The touch is very sensitive and I have been able to type with ease and comfort without much of an effort. That is fantastic !

Initially, I had the feeling that the software appeared to be a typical build of Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango), but Nokia has added a few goodies. Nokia Drive, Nokia Music, and Nokia Maps are all preinstalled and are free. Windows Phone was in desperate need of navigation apps and this is certainly a good start.

And now about the sad part. I am not very impressed with the 8-megapixel camera. Nokia listed this as one of the best features of the phone. Unfortunately, I personally don't see it anywhere close to iphone4s. I feel the latter gives better quality images.

In Lumia 800 Images appear fuzzy and a bit distorted, even with an adequate amount of light.

The lack of a front-facing camera is very disappointing to me. I don't understand why Nokia ignored this feature, though its niche.

As I mentioned earlier, I have been using with this phone for a couple of months now and battery seems to be as good as the other smart phones in the market. With casual use including calling, text messaging, downloading some apps, browsing the web, and taking a few pictures, I made it about nine hours before the low battery warning flashed on the display. With a little less usage, the battery stays even for a couple of days.

CONCLUSION

As far as Windows Phones go, the Nokia Lumia 800 is a beautiful mobile device that's designed well, despite its lack of a front-facing camera. I have used many mobile phones and the Lumia 800 certainly stands out. It's a great start on Nokia's long road to recovery. I would surely recommend this phone as it is indeed worth the money and I am sure you would love to explore this phone as well!
