Since receiving my nokia n900 through the door 9 months ago i have had the pleasure of using a phone that has the basic functions every normal phone should have but with the added use of a handset that is a scaled down internet tablet. From my own experiences the internet has been very quick when looking on flash sites as well as downloading files. The original reason i brought this phone was so i could have a touchscreen phone but with a keyboard for backup when writing long emails and texts for work. I have found the keyboard to be very easy to use and although at first it seemed small, after a few days, was plenty big enough. The touch screen is fairly responsive however i would however i would recommend having some type of plastic screen over the top,as once it gets dirty it can become very slow. The camera on the phone is average at best and the playback on the video camera leaves a lot to be desired, however that being said this is not one of the features on the phone i was really looking for. To summarize the phone is great for what i use it for with work however for those looking to purchase a phone they can enjoy for everyday use i would say have a look at the new HTC handsets or the I-Phone. A little more to do and also nicer looking handsets.
It's crystal clear by now that the Nokia N900 has almost nothing to do with the ... more
traditional Nseries values. The full QWERTY side-slider may look similar to its double-digit mates but the Maemo experience is completely different. However, the N900 is not there for the mere sake of difference - a tablet and a phone, it tries to get the best of both worlds. These are worlds though where Nokia feels at home. The internet tablet genes are strong in the Nokia N900 so connectivity and web-browsing are its greatest virtues. The large high-res display and great typing skills are the right kind of backup but we've seen plenty of similar packages already. We told you though - the N900 is different. It's a Maemo-powered phone with Mozilla browsing and all-you-can-eat connectivity. Call it good news, call it a good start or just call it good. Let's see if it calls back.
