The Nokia n95 was first released on sale in the UK at the beginning of 2007. It was one of the most advanced phones available at this time. It has a lot to offer the owner. First of all, the display is a 240 x 360TFT display with ambient light detector and up to 16million different colours to take your fancy. The display is quite clear with not a lot of icons to clutter up the space.
The signal and battery levels are illustrated in the top corners of the screen split either side of the time and the profile selection, e.g. silent, general, and meeting. Beneath this we have the main tabs showing from left to right; the contacts list, radio DJ, bluetooth, web, gallery and maps. The calendar is hidden below this and can be opened to view dates and set reminders for birthdays etc. These reminders appear on the main
display screen which is very helpful to me.
What most impressed me when I first bought this phone was the quality of the 5mp camera on the back. The resolution of pictures and videos are great quality. I found this one of the most advantageous features as it means I did not need to buy a digital camera to carry around as well, as the n95 camera proves sufficient enough for taking digital photos. There are many other fantastic features about this phone. It has GPS capabilities if certain add-ons are installed. There is also a voice recorder, wireless keyboard application, adobe PDF, a secondary camera on the front of the phone for use in 3G phone calls, internet access and an mp3 player installed on this device.
I have had this phone for just over a year now and the numerous applications have proven very helpful. I especially like the ability to access the internet wherever I go via the vodafone live tool which will vary depending on which contract you have. However, I found there to be a couple of downfalls with this phone, nothing serious but a few mild annoyances. For example; my back button occasionally fails to work meaning I have to use the end call button to exit whatever I am doing. This is quite irritating if I just want to go back to the previous page as opposed to quitting the whole application I am looking at. Also the shutter slide on the camera is a good feature although it can quite easily catch on your clothing when you take your phone out of your pocket, causing it to switch to the camera mode. Finally, I found that the battery life is very short-lived, and if you use your mobile as frequently as me then you will find yourself with a dead phone after about 24hours. This is not too much of a problem as long as you are able to charge your phone frequently, but if you go away for a weekend and forget your phone charger you are going to know about it!
Below I have posted a full list of specifications for this phone, hope this helps.
