as a owner and user of the nokia n97 i can say i am overall very happy with the improvements that nokia have made on previous models i.e N96 and N95. Lets face it all of us who went from owning an N95 to what nokia seem to believe was a better model (N96) were extremely dissapointed as although looking good on paper the N96 failed to meet the standards of its pre- deccesor but i am glad to say nokia have redeemed themselves on the launch of the N97. There have been many improvements made on previous models i.e the processor is alot faster and the slow transitions between menus has been completely iradicated due to the massive 32Gb memory which can still be increased to a huge 48GB by the handy memory slot tucked away under the rear cover of the phone. Another improvement on previous models is the slider mechanism after a few minor issues of dirt sand etc getting caught in both the N95 and N96 mechanism causing its smooth slide to become a thing of the past but the new "slide up" mechanism is something rather impressive that we havent seen another phone manufacturer come up with anything quite like this especially with such a strong build of the mechanism very unlikely to break or fall apart as many users have experienced with the N96. as with previous models the N97 boasts a 5MP camera with carl zeiss optics lens and also for you video callers out there there is of course a camera on the front of the phone. and finally the part youve all been waiting for has nokia created something that can match up to the all powerful i-phone well the answer is unfotunately not although this is by far the best phone nokia have produced, the apps are all excellent although still few and far between they all work well on the phone and very easy to download and install. The widgets are very useul to have on this phone and as a loyal nokia user appreciated the benefits of these but once again there is limited space for widgets on the home screen so this restricts the many benefits having widgets creates. The touchscreen is surprisingly good for a capacitive screen as these have been known to need a firm touch to get a reaction, this isnt needed as much with the N97 but once again the iphone with its mere "tickle sensitive" touchscreen still remains to be the number one touchscreen on the market and with the new i-phone 3gs out adding video facilties to the phone it is currently by far still at the top of the market but as a commitednokia user and i know there are many of us out there the N97 is a worthwhile phone to own and i would certainly not swap it for anything else.
