Norfrost C4AES

...I decided to purchase the Norfrost C4AES chest freezer for the following reasons.
1. It is silver to match my new fridge/freezer and comes complete with two baskets.
2. It has a 'MAINS ON' green light on the front, rather than on the side which a lot of models seem to have. (I prefer to be able to see at a glance that it is operating properly).
3. It also has an amber 'BOOST' switch which you can set to 'ON' when you're puting ...
...you run on 'BOOST' setting for 8 hours minimum. This is only necessary if you're freezing a lot of fresh food, (not required for already frozen food). If freezing small quantities of fresh food, I always put it in between already frozen food and its always been fine. I haven't had this freezer long enough to have to defrost it but it is recommended that you carefully scrape away the frost once it gets to around 1/4 inch thick using a wooden or plastic ... more

Well, my story goes like this....early December 06 my fridge freezer started to make all sorts of weird noises and the alarm light would come on at all hours of the day. (The alarm should normally only come on twice a day for a short time). As Christmas was fast approaching and I knew I'd be stocking up my freezer with all sorts of goodies, I was becoming increasingly anxious as to whether it would make it through Christmas so off I went to our local Comet and Currys to do some price comparisons. I opted for a large standard fridge/freezer (not frost-free) and a chest freezer which gives me DOUBLE the freezer space of a frost-free fridge freezer of the same value!

I decided to purchase the Norfrost C4AES chest freezer for the following reasons.

This is only necessary if you're freezing a lot of fresh food, (not required for already frozen food). If freezing small quantities of fresh food, I always put it in between already frozen food and its always been fine. I haven't had this freezer long enough to have to defrost it but it is recommended that you carefully scrape away the frost once it gets to around 1/4 inch thick using a wooden or plastic scraper but NEVER with anything metal as you will damage the surface. (Two months of use and still no build up so I'm guessing you might have to do this maybe three times a year maximum).
4. It has a temperature regulator dial on the front so you can alter the setting if need be. (Not all chest freezers have this function).
5. There is a storage guide on underside of lid to keep you right on storage times for different foods. The lid is also counterbalanced so it wont land on your head as you dig deep in your freezer!!

I'm absolutely delighted with my chest freezer which I paid £119.99 for at Currys. It has made such a difference to our freezer storage problems as we never seemed to have enough room before. I wish I'd bought one years ago!

We were able to take it home on day of purchase as we have a small hatchback car. It is not a heavy item so two people could manage it easily. You must let it stand for 12 hours to allow the refrigerant to settle. Like most freezers etc, it does make a noise from time to time but I consider it to be very quiet and certainly not loud enough to disturb or annoy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to anyone. It's been money well spent for us! I hope my review has been helpful for you.
