The Nortel Networks Access Stack Node (ASN) is a stackable router architecture providing cost-effective solutions for enterprise network centers. Nortel Networks Switched Internetworking Services (BaySIS) operating in the ASN provides features for today's evolving Internetworks with migration to the future of switched intra- and internetworking. The ASN provides seamless integration of multiple units stacked together for management as a single router. This architecture eases the management of a growing network because adding interfaces beyond a unit's capacity does not require replacement of routers - or additional complexity - in the network. The ASN maximizes connectivity and enhances interoperability by supporting all major network and bridging protocols, wide area services, and IBM standards. Additionally, the ASN's fault-resilient system software ensures high network availability. The ASN uses a highly scalable architecture, which provides cost-effective, growth-oriented solutions for enterprise network centers.
Advantages: Can hook up a few computers to it,can have a password Disadvantages: slow transfer of big files between computers
...The last review was very good but I thought I would give one more about the product itself.
After purchasing a laptop it became apparent that I wouldnt want to run a cable from my broadband box to my laptop in order to use the internet especially when this is already plugged into my PC. The next logical step? By a wireless router and i'm assuming that if your are reading this then you will either be in this position or just cant be bothered with having cables all around your house anymore.
As the title says this is a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch. Fore this router to work you need to make sure that your broadband has an ETHERNET port otherwise you will need to find another router as you plug your broadband into this router via an ethernet cable in order for it to be able to send out the signal...

...(which is very good for information actually) as I believe it will be of use to some of you, I have put this at the end of my review so that it does not get mixed in with my own views/opinions.
" WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK). WPA means Wireless Protected Access. WPA/WPA2-Personal PSK is a recent standards-based security technique where each packet of information is encrypted with a different code, or key. Since the key is constantly changing, WPA/WPA2 is very secure. The encryption key is generated automatically from a string of characters called the Pass Phrase or the Pre-shared Key (PSK). Obviously the biggest security risk in WPA is if someone finds out your Pass Phrase.
Authentication - Select the method supported by all clients.
WPA-PSK uses TKIP encryption.
WPA2-PSK uses AES encryption.
WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK allows...

...DRAYTEK VIGOR 2950 ENTERPRISE FIREWALL
The Draytek Vigor 2950 Enterprise Firewall is a hardware firewall and router aimed at medium sized to large businesses. I’ve set up and am using six of these routers at a certain company with offices around London and have been using them for a few years now and was done as an upgrade from the Draytek Vigor 2600 and 2800 routers that were previously in use. The reason for the upgrade to the 2950 was due to the VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection being slow with the previous models. This was probably due to the processor in the router not being powerful enough to encrypt and decrypt the data more quickly. The 2950 has a dedicated co-processor just for the VPN, so performance would be better. It costs around £320 but price varies from supplier to supplier.
