This would have to be my favourite of the stand alone Nora Roberts books. I thoroughly enjoyed her description of the Alaskan landscape. Her main female character in this book is a wonderfully independent and feisty lady. The main male character is new to this environment, and seeking to forget out a bad experience.
There is a good element of mystery interwoven into the background, and intriguingly written through a series of flashbacks. The suspense mounts beautifully, and as always with her books, you are left guessing as to who did it.
I really enjoyed the layers of detail that were added to this book - you begin to feel what it is like to live through an Alaskan winter. I have already reread this book several times as I enjoyed it so much!
