So, why buy 2005 if you have 2004, I honestly couldnt tell you that, because you can just keep your 2004 up to date and stay just as protected.
Having said that, I would suggest if you dont have any, then you need to seriously think about getting norton 2005.
If you have an old pc then your booting time can be seriously affected by the loading of the antivirus and the personal firewall.
What do you get for your hard earned cash?
Probably one of the most well known antivirus software out there, which you can automatically update via the internet, which is essential as new virus' are produced on a daily basis. As with previous versions you get a one year subscription for the free updates.
You get a firewall to stop your PC from being attacked from the outside and stops malicious software from sending information out. The Firewall will ask you first, what you want to do, and you can permit or block. If you do get attacked then the firewall will log the I.P address of the intruder, block them, and provides you with a basic tracking facility.
If you are a worried about the kids looking at questionable content on the Web, then the parental controls will aid you in the fight, sites with particular content can be blocked and individual sites can be blocked too.
Your E-Mail is spam filtered and will block certain emails and can be shown as spam in the recieved list for ones that you can decide on.
You get a spyware checker but I would suggest the use of an extra spyware and adware checker and removal tool, there are many free ones for download out there. The reason I say this is because, unfortunately Norton is not as good at finding such things as it should be, I would suggest the names of the ones I use, but I am not sure if I am allowed too in this review (If someone out there tells me I can, Then I will edit my review).
In conclusion:
A good all round package that will keep your PC virus free, and help give you a little peace of mind.
In response to the comments, I paid £35 from an independent high street retailer.
