Advantages: It is alright at finding and removing viruses. Disadvantages: Slows computer down, difficult and time consuming installation, sometimes misses viruses
...I've had Norton on my computer for many years. This is one of the versions I have used. However, my opinion remains the same for all of the Norton Antivirus software-
I don't like it. I have a couple aquaintances who use other antiviruses that are much cheaper and are a lot more convenient.
Norton Antivirus slows down your startup of your computer especially if it is an older one. It takes up a lot of space on your computer, saying it is "necessary" to download certain things when you honestly can go without them.
The only thing I've found that doesn't totally disappoint me is that it can find viruses fairly well. However, it has let a couple into our computer.
We have also had various problems with downloading newer versions as well. We've had trouble finding the downloads, and had trouble understanding certain instructions...

Advantages: Easy to use, customizable, very competent and thorough virus protection. Disadvantages: Doesn't work in conjunction with some other antivirus softwares - but that's okay.

Now that I've gone and told you how important it is to remember to use virus software, let me tell you exactly why I trust Symantec's program so much. (But, because I did not install it...

Advantages: None. Disadvantages: Made my normally low blood pressure soar.
...I use Norton every day at work, and I have to say it's one of the worst and most enfuriating computer programmes I've ever used! Exageration? No. I've waisted precious hours of my life trying to get Norton to actually do a scan, or finish a scan, or have any kind of meaningful dialogue with me.
What makes it even more annoying is that I'm totally blind, and I find that there are other products out there which are much more accessible for me, and work with my screen-reader software. AVG Antivirus is fine, and I know there are others. But Norton has a big thumbs down from me. I'm not normally one who will moan and groan about software, and I can normally see the good as well as the bad. But Norton has given me nothing but problems from the very first.
I have friends who have sight, and they also have problems with Norton...
