Even with this great virus protection program. New Viruses are always being created so Symantec have created a Live Update program that allows you to update and enhance the range of protection this program can give. This requires the internet and connection speed is not an issue, because most of the updates are relativeley small (about 10-500kb).
Norton Internet Security runs on the task bar and it doesnt take up much ram and the minimum requirements are quite low. The minimum requirements vary for each Operating system.

If you don't know the speed of your processor or the size of your RAM you can find out by clicking on the start menu, click on run, type in "dxdiag" and it will display your computers information on screen (this only works if you have direct x on your computer, all computers should have it installed anyway).
Norton Internet Security is a great and essential program for you computer and is certainly something you should invest in. The bundle costs £29.99 but prices vary. You can buy this from and good pc/computer shop. I got this from pc world for £29.99. I highly suggest you buy this and you will not regret getting it.
The only con of the Norton Antivirus family is that in the box you only get one years subscription to the antivirus program and after this you have to either re-subscribe or buy the new version which will be 2005.
Advantages: Antivirus + firewall all in one Disadvantages: Copyright protection built in that can frustrate the honest consumer

If you can play a cd on your hi-fi you will have no problem installing NIC 2004. IMPORTANT -- You must uninstall all previous virus / firewall products and disable Windows own firewall.
( This software can als be purchased as a download online but would advise you to get the cd rom as I have had problems before ... ...occur with other Norton products. If you want to install older versions of the software problems can easily arise in the registry.
You get a detailed manual but you do not need it as all the same information can be found in the help menues in the program. ...

...internet security 2004 from the Norton website. The whole process was easy and quick. No problems. Although you now have to register and activate the product which you didn't have to in the past. Obvious reasons because people are downloading the software illegally for their own use without paying.
It has an excellent anti spam incorporated along with web filtering tools and easy to use privacy and parental controls. Which if couse is an excellent ... ...you child could potentially access Norton and take that website off the list. However Norton Password Manager is available to purchase quite cheaply or if you wanted to go for the Norton Systemworks bundle 2004 it is included. You can set up your own rules in respect of email addresses that you wish to block. Plus it allows you to preadvise which emails should always reach your email inbox.
