Viruses are constantly being flooded onto the web daily; in fact viruses have never been such a problem. Some viruses are so powerful that they can permanently damage your computer. It’s this very reason that you need a very reliable anti virus software to protect your computer from the constant release of new and old viruses. You don’t even have to download a program off the web to get a virus, all I takes is going to the wrong website at the wrong time, getting yourself attacked by a nasty virus.
Norton has always been the leading developer in virus software, being the first to come up with ideas such as virus scans over email or instant messaging etc. It’s Norton’s reputation why many customers choose to buy its software over other brand names.
Norton only takes up around 100 to 200mb depending on your operating system which in comparison is very small to other software you may install such as the average computer game being 5 times as big in mass. You don’t have to be a genius to customise through the installation options, the default settings provide almost perfect security, never the less, Norton provides the option to customise which files to install and which options to enable for those more confident and advanced users.
The most impressive feature for me in this program that separates it from the competition, is its real time virus scanner, which is activated when your in the middle of downloading a file contaminated with a virus, deletes it, and lets you carry on downloading, making the file harmless and safe for the user. This generates yet another layer of protection for your pc and adds a great convenience, removing the annoyance of having to delete the file after finding out it has a virus in.
Norton has also proved it’s the best all rounder by including anti spyware and hacking tools that could be hiding around in your computer. However programs such as Adware 6.0 (free to download) seem to a better job of this, so Norton isn’t perfect in this segment but it’s the first anti virus software to include this function so of course it will take time to improve, but with 15 months free updates, this will not be a problem.
The only area that Norton is let down in is its customer support section where calls cost around a pound per minute and there is no online support help. However it has to be said that people have rarely needed to contact Norton since its reliability has overshadowed any small complaints they may have received.
Overall I would say this is an awesome and innovative piece of software which should be bought to enable full security. I would defiantly recommend this over rivals such as McAfee and AVG. I used both programs in the past and their performance and performance times cannot compare.
