The 2006 edition is great if you're a bit low on money and can't afford the new 2007 edition. 2006 still has all the features, works without bothering you, is thorough and effective, and is so easy to use I have never had to check the manual that came with it.
When you insert the installation disk Norton takes over and guides you through set up, offering you options on various levels of protection for your system. Finally it updates itself on-line, then it just seems to disappear into the background and carries on with its job while you carry on with your work. Since installing Norton I have not had a single virus or suspicious email. The cost of this program, particularly through sites such as ebay is easily affordable, and for new packages will always include the 1 year subscription to updates which is renewable. The program clearly shows how many days are left on its front page, as well as giving you quick and easy access to all of its functions. The program features an excellent firewall, norton antispam which integrates with your email client (such as outlook) to scan all incoming and outgoing mail, I found it to be very effective at this, much more so than mcafee which sent 50% of my friends emails to the spam folder, even after a year of using it, where as norton seems to "learn" very quickly. There are parental controls, to set what your kids can view online, privacy control to safeguard any private information stored on your pc. It also has instant messenger scanning to make sure nothing gets through via that facility. The Intrusion Prevention is highly effective at detecting and blocking online attacks and keeping your pc safe. Whilst running in the background, the program will update itself automatically, and will create new rules for each new program you add, in terms of how that program connects to the internet.
All in all, it is a fairly fool proof program that has done an amazing job of protecting my computer and information that I will be using for many years to come. The rest have been tested and don't even come close. If you want something that does its job, does it well and doesn't get in the way while it is working then this is the one for you. If you want it to be simple to use yet full of features, then this is the one for you. If you want an all-in-one security package that takes away all your online worries and makes you forget there was ever anything to worry about online then this is the one for you!

Norton is popular for the easy handling, that's what I had heard before buying this and sure enough installation is made very easy for everyone, you answer a few simple questions, register and off you go. The auto-update-feature downloads the newest software- and virus-updates and performs a scan on first start and that's basically it. Even the firewall isn't hard to set up, which was the biggest surprise to me because ... ...have to take Firewalls 101 before being able to configure it for my system;). In fact the firewall "learns" your online-behaviour and adjusts to it, so after some time the warnings you get become fewer. There's even an invisibility-mode so no one will be "watching" you while you're surfing on the internet. The virus-protection is also very solid and comes with integrated anti-spyware features. ...was running a version of Norton Anti-Virus, a Sygate firewall but little else. I needed a complete package at a good price.
A quick visit to Amazon offered the 2006 version of the Norton Security Suite for a touch under £25. I've always found Norton products easy enough to use and generally well supported. Price wise it was the best on offer and I felt safe with a brand that's well known.
I received the software today; you certainly can't mistake ... ...installed and then popped in Norton 2006. The software boots itself up and the installation is pretty easy to follow, in fact you can just sit back and just make a few clicks along the way - it does the rest.
After installation, the software needs an Internet connection to update with the latest virus threats. I found the update extremely quick on a 1mb connection and again it done it all itself without any real effort required.

Quick review of Norton Internet Security 2006
I found Norton incompatible with other software so when I moved to another provider six moths ago I cancelled my cover. Since then my credit card have been twice illegally debited by the firm (once for an add on I did not require or request and, a few weeks ago, for another years subscription). I am going to have to get a new credit card to fend off this firm so be warned - once they have got your card, they have got you. ...

wilst i have used this product since 2002 with no problems,
till i downgraded to this , a virus go through and deactived it
, even when reactivted and a complete scan was completed it
still reported no viruses , then the visus deactived the product again. after seven times it said i had used my activations and to call customer sevices, i was treated like it was my fault , it took 7 days to get the product reactivated. due to the poor standard ...

because I have written to you now about my Router which really{actually} does not admit many security settings, I will anyway write to you about the security program which I on my notebook computer has installed. It concerns, on this occasion, the program NortonInternetSecurity in 2006.
How have I arrived{come to that}??? When my friend and me purchased to us the notebook computers, 90 days of test version of NortonInternetSecurity were present{involved} in 2006. However, these 90 days passed like in the flight, and then, therefore, I have purchased to myself the full version, because I was persuaded of this program immediately, and the opinion I was the full version must have.

So did I when my years subscription decreased to 90 days IN ONE DAY!!!!!
I just renewed my norton subscription and got a free update to the new 2009 package. AMAZING!!! couldnt have asked for better service, 10 out of 10!!!
I had just rebooted my computer and when I turned it on again my Norton subscription had only 90 days left even though i had just renewed it for a year. I spoke to a member of the Symantac Technical team who requested that i allow him access to my computer to fix it himself which i did. WOW!!! soo fast! I just sat back and observed as he did all the work! He uninstalled the my new, older, 2006 version of NortonInternetSecurity and Installed the complete brand new 2009 package with no extra cost to myself!!!!!

of your current protection status through large green and red icons on the left hand side. Unfortunately, for me anyway, the interface feels rather rushed and unfinished. NortonInternetSecurity2006 had a marvelous user interface which felt a joy to use whereas 2007 has the opposite effect on me.
At the end of the day however, it's not the looks that make the product, it's what it can do for you. Symantec's Norton AntiVirus plays a key role in this suite and offers fantastic anti-virus protection all year round. You can carry out scans if and when you like as well as schedule scans and it's also possible to scan individual files, compressed archives and folders at any time too. The results are given to you in a clear and concise manner and make removal quite simple.
Norton Personal Firewall is also present here and it's not bad at all ...
