Advantages: Makes a lovely Snowball Disadvantages: Not very versatile?
...No, I don't know what it means either..but Advocaat is apparently basically egg nog with a dash of some sort of alcohol. People seem to love it or hate it or associate it with granny's drinks cupboard! Personally I have phases of liking it.
It comes in a standard size bottle (75cl) for about £6 and is instantly recognisable by it's somewhat egg-yolky yellow colour - I've only ever seen it made by Warninks although there may well be some supermarket brands out there. The bottle has a 'classic' label which hasn't changed for as long as I can remember! It is a very thick looking, slow pouring, somewhat unappealing in appearance drink but if, like me, you have a penchant for Snowballs, you'll like it!
Ah yes! Snowballs, sickly but very drinkable, especially for "the ladies". This drink consists of a measure of Advocaat, a dash of lime...

Advantages: tasty Disadvantages: gets a bit much after a while
...Whoever first pitched this idea must have had a hard sell on their hands: “Alcoholic egg juice? An unsual drink, certainly, but it does us all good to stare into the abyss now and again, and shun the mundanity of our everyday tipples. Why, if nobody ever tried new things, we’d still all be drinking mead or something, and be heartily sick of it.
Advocaat, as already discussed, is basically egg nog with some alcohol in it. It’s 20% ABV and costs around...

Advantages: A good solid example of a Mild. Disadvantages: Not as tasty as some beer styles and not easy to find outside Nottingham.
...As May is officially designated Mild Month in CAMRA (CAMpaign for Real Ale) circles, as a dedicated member I am spending the month sampling new Mild ales (and also revisiting old ones). For this reason I found myself trying a Mild I hadn’t had in a while, during a trip to the Plough Inn at Radford (near Nottingham). This Mild was Rock Mild, brewed by Nottingham Brewery.
~~~THE BREWERY.
Nottingham Brewery was set up in October 2001 by Niven Balfour and Phil Darby. It is based behind the Plough pub in Radford and can be found in the outbuildings. Although the brewery is popular and successful they aim to stay a small local micro-brewery and only sell their products in a limited number of places – they can be found in some pubs nationwide and also at beer festivals. The majority of pubs that sell their beers are in and around...
