Review of "Nou Camp - Barcelona F.C., Barcelona"
The one thing I would advise is that you should go for a reasonably big match - the one against Real Madrid being one of the biggest in the World. You'd be lucky to get tickets for this, though. I say this because when I went, we went to a match against 'ickle' Numancia and so, although it was pretty much a full team for 'Barca', there wasn't much passion in the game and the stadium was only half full. As a result it wasn't a great game and the crowd was a bit quiet as they watched Barcelona sputter along to a 1-1 draw with the Primera Liga minnows.Whatever the match, though, it's got to be worth it just to experience being in such a massive stadium. Unless you've been in La Maracana in Brazil, you won't have ever seen anything like it.
Depending on the importance of the game, you may be able to buy tickets on the day of the match, but it's advisable to book ahead to ensure a seat. Matches kick off at 8:00 as far as I remember and the stadium is easily accessible by foot from the underground. Don't attempt to drive unless you have a lot of patience or nerves of steel or preferably both! The Barcelona FC museum is also worth a look if you're likely to be interested in that sort of thing - it really is pretty amazing to see the number of world-class players they've had at the club. Right from Lineker and Hughes to Figo, Kluivert and Ronaldo.
For us, the museum had an added bonus of allowing us to catch a glimpse of the players that had been called in for extra training due to the poor result the night before! It's very hard to get close, though - a plethora of guards make it nigh-on impossible to sneak round like we tried!
