"Home of Barcelona FC"

Budding footballers will surely want to visit the home of F. C. Barcelona - the Camp Nou stadium. It's easy to get to by metro and from the station you take a short walk to the stadium that is very reminiscent of Wembley Way. It is exciting to visit a stadium that has so much history and you can almost feel the passion as you approach.

There is a small complex around the 98,000-seater stadium that offers a cafe, training school and museum. The cafe is a pretty dull affair selling bland food at very inflated prices - a burger and chips will set you back almost ten Euros, so I'd absolutely give it a wide berth - not hard considering the inexplicable swarms of people that always seem to be hovering in and around it.

Depending on what you want, there are varying priced tickets for the stadium tour and the attached museum. For a rather steep twenty Euros per person, you can tour the stadium taking in the changing rooms and the dugout where you are able to see the pitch at eye-line. At a more reasonable eight Euros is entry to the museum which has a brief history of the club, details of the players, collections on the other sports teams that are based here and, of course, the glittering trophy room where'll you find all the major trophies.

Interestingly, I enquired with the ticket seller, whether or not you could see the pitch from the tour of the museum and he said no, I would have to pay for the stadium tour. However, in the museum there is an entry in the stadium seating area on the second tier that affords fabulous views of the pitch - so don't be fooled! Unless you are really keen to see the inside of the changing rooms and the like, I'd strongly recommend the second, cheaper option. I know we went for this and so am biased, but I thought that it offered a much better opportunity to take pictures of the pitch since you could look down on it rather than being on the same level.

There is also a club shop where you can get every kind of souvenir of Barcelona FC you can imagine, even (as we were astounded to see) Barcelona FC dog perfume! The prices are exactly as you would imagine - not cheap, but fans will love the choice and there are smaller items that pocket money can be spent on.

As a football fan, I enjoyed the tour and visit, but I think that even non-football fans will enjoy the magnitude of the place and also the interesting displays about other sports that are played here. So, I have to say that it is a place that should be on most people's must see list and righly so!
