Advantages: Fun. Easy to play. It'll run on bottom of the range PCs (by today's standards) Disadvantages: Multi-player is awful.
Nox is yet another disaster for those of us who still try to get people to play on-line, textual RPGs or old fashioned RPGs.
Why?
Nox is a disaster for the old style of games because as a computer role playing game it works very well! Here I am, writing as someone who appreciates plot, intrigue and drama who is about to wax lyrical about a game that could be described as a dungeon crawl. I had better explain.
For a start, the story line behind ... ...The game engine behind Nox is sweet. It allows for a very complex game world and some wonderful graphical effects.
o) True Line of Sight. This takes some getting used to but it really is cool. What your character can see - you can see. What your character can’t see - you can’t see. So, for example, if you run your character around a pillar then you’ll be able to watch this huge black “shadow” sweep around the screen… because as you run in a circle ...

Advantages: Funny, cool multiplayer Disadvantages: not as good as diablo or baldurs gate
...first thing I noticed about Nox is its semi-subtle humor coupled with high production values. The opening sequence plays out like the very best in B cinema, with good graphics and voice acting telling the tale of poor Jack Mower. Jack's just an ordinary guy in a Florida trailer park. How ordinary? According to the manual, he'd "crush aluminum cans on his forehead to impress his girlfriend." When the evil sorceress Hecubah opens a wormhole to the ... ...get whacked. So Nox is also an action game, a fact which is played out in its multiplayer aspect. No cooperative RPG'ing here: it's all about bloodletting. Various game styles are available, including capture the flag, arena, elimination, and the innovative flag ball. In this last, you're charged with hitting the opposing team's flag with a ball. It's like soccer with weapons, magic, and any number of beasts summoned by conjurers. The plain-old deathmatching ...

Advantages: Lots of action, atmospheric music, strangely addictive Disadvantages: Repetitive
The reason I bought this game is because I'm a great fan of fantasy style roleplaying games and the specs looked pretty attractive. After watching the intro, you would think it will be like Ultima but the similarity stops there. It is more like Diablo. It is a simplistic game where the action is in a slash'em up and spell'em up style. This is how it continues throughout the game for whichever character you play with, Warrior, Conjourer or Wizard. ... ...better weapons, Wizard has better spells and the Conjourer is 50/50 between strength and magic. The game follows the form where your character enters a town, gets given tasks/missions, goes out into the woods, caves, buildings, kills lots of monsters, solves a few puzzles, retrieves an object then is given the next task/mission. Weopons can be picked up and dropped and even sold when you enter a shop. The ideas aren't exactly original but it is quite ...

Advantages: quick and easy to play Disadvantages: multiplayer mode is a let down
NOX is a faced paced easy to use game. It has great graphics, although i do reccomend having a decent system to run it. A friend of mine had a pentium 233 mmx and it really struggled.
The game is set in the world we all know as fantasy dungeons and dragons, this tireless genre always captures the hearts of most hard core RPG fans. Having said that, this game is so easy for newcommers to RPG to pick up and play. This is a great plus point for NOX ... ...The only main downfall of the game is the multiplayer mode, once you have navigated through all the updates you have to download before you even get to play. you find yourself surrounded by mega hard killing machine AKA other online gamers, They for some reasone are intent on wiping you off the face of the planet. This for me is not ROLE PLAYING!!! and was bitterly dissapointed. ...
