Advantages: Portable, dries laundry, filters air, multiple settings, cheap to run.
Disadvantages: Slightly awkward for emptying if you have long nails :)

We had a serious problem with dampness and an equally serious problem with the cost of electricity and the continual wet weather. With no radiators to help dry clothes, the tumble dryer was eating into the household budget. That's when I found out about dehumidifiers and how economical these can be, plus, they can be beneficial to your health. After much research, I settled for the Amcor DC800 Dehumidifier & Air Purifier in one. I got mine for less than £80 including P&P and it has been the best purchase I've made in 2008! Mine uses about 1 unit of electricity per day and I'm amazed at how quickly it got rid of the musty, damp smell in the house, plus it's great for sitting under the 'pulley' or next to the clothes airer. Bionaire BAP242 Compact Air Purifier with Ioniser.

Advantages: Remove dust and unpleasant smells from rooms. EXCELLENT.
Disadvantages: Filters are difficult to purchase, but not impossible.

I bought the Bionaire BAP242 Compact Air Purifier with Ioniser in 2005, and I have just bought another which is why I am writing this review. It's an excellent product, and serves it's purpose brilliantly. After a few hours of use, you can feel the difference in the quality of the air. I find that it works best in a room where the door is closed. There are many reviews which state that the air purifier does not do what it's supposed to do, I beg to differ. It just needs to be used correctly (that is, in the correct area of the room, etc). The filters, which need to be replaced every 6-12 months, can be purchased over the telephone (the number is in the instruction guide), or from various sites online. Highly recommended product. ...

Clean air?

Advantages: it does work.
Disadvantages: replacement filters, breakdowns.

The idea of an air purifier for home use is a good one. You will need to be able to quickly and easily replace any filtration units and have a machine that is not too obtrusive for any domestic use. Way back in January 2006 I bought 4 of these air purifier units. I am a smoker but I like to keep my smoking to only one room of my house and I wanted to try to keep this from going into all the other rooms. This was not the only reason as both my wife and myself seem to suffer a bit with hay fever. I wanted to get a filter into several rooms of the house. My wife wanted a unit that had a HEPA filter, I just wanted something that could keep the room air somewhat clean and be easy to use.
