Advantages: plays all speeds and is easy to use Disadvantages: Bulky and not very attractive/ sound quality if using built in speaker

This device is self-sufficient. I must confess to not having used it battery operated so can't comment on that but from the mains it works well. It has a built in speaker and is already earthed so you don't ... ...so you can plug it in if you wish). This is obviously ideal for travel. The sound quality out of it's speaker is not great but depending on your requirements is ample. Word of warning: watch out that you have it turned to zero if you are plugging into a hi-fi otherwise you will get double playback.

This device is self-sufficient. I must confess to not having used it battery operated so can't comment on that but from the mains it works well. It has a built in speaker and is already earthed so you don't need a hi-fi (although it does also have an output so you can plug it in if you wish). This is obviously ideal for travel. The sound quality out of it's speaker is not great but depending on your requirements is ample. What I really like about this is that it can play all records speeds that means, whereas many other turntables on the market won't, this can play 78 RPM vinyl too.
The downside is that although portable it is still quite bulky with a cumbersome big black lid and is not particularly elegant. Imagine an oversized school kids lunchbox and that's about what you have here. That's just a niggle though as otherwise it works a treat.
Portable turntables seem to be all the rage today! The PT01 has a solid plastic casing with removable lid as well as 3 speed settings and pitch control. The whole thing only measures 12" diagonaly accross.
