I had a Dyson - what more can I say? (read my other review)
After months of tolerating the Dyson I finally cut my losses and looked for a new vaccuum cleaner. I am so glad I did!!
My friend, who is a fanatical cleaner, recommended Numatic Henry and his pals. Numatic design for industry, so their machines are no nonsense, robust and easy to use. They come with a 2 year guarantee which says something for the manufacturer's confidence in their product.
Henry Hound is one of the Henry range of cleaners which are designed to meet a variety of needs. He has an Odourtex filter which extracts doggy (and other) smells from the carpet as he cleans. This really works too.
His other main difference from the standard Henry is a turbo head (the brushes go round). You can buy a turbo head for a standard Henry, but the one that comes with Henry Hound has an integral power supply which runs neatly down the inside of the tube. The turbo head can be easily switched on and off from the handle.
Henry Hound is basically a cylinder cleaner, He has a long flexible hose at the start, and then a rigid tube which comes into 3 parts to allow you to make the length you require. The parts click together easily.
He has the usual set of extra tools, plus a huge extra head for large smooth floors. I would have liked the tools to be stored on board the machine, but he did come with a lovely smiley red bag, which is ideal to keep them all together. And actually how often do we use most of the tools?
Henry has good suction. It may not be as powerful as a Dyson, but I did find that to be overpowerful. Henry has a happy medium, and I have no problems with his suction. He also has the standard switch to adjust the suction when less is needed.
His head and hose are well designed to allow easy access to all the nooks and crannies. At last I can hoover under the cupboards with ease. His flex is so long I can do the whole downstairs from one plug. And it is easy to wind the flex back into the machine after use.
He has a round body, so no snagging on corners, and comes on 2 fixed back wheels and two rotating front wheels which allow him to be moved around easily.
Changing Henry's bag is easy and clean to do. I don't have to do it very often as the bag is quite big. It has a flexible collar so there is a good seal onto the machine, and this means that the dust stays in the bag rather than messing the floor.
Henry has a friendly face. I love to see him peeping round the corner of the door - whoever designed eyes for a hoover should be given a knighthood!
Even my dogs love him, He is so much quieter than the Dyson. More of a pet.......
I am glad I got Henry Hound. Cleaning my floors has never been such fun. I would recommend him to anyone.
